During the 1860's nearly every farmer had an apple orchard to use for the family and livestock. Because of the rich soil many of the farmers expanded their orchards and began selling apples as well as other produce. Today Pennsylvania is ranked as one of the largest apple growing states in the nation and our area has some of the largest orchards in PA.
