Last year, the Rural Tourism Fund awarded 12 grants to projects across rural Ireland.From cycling tours on the Wild Atlantic Way to heritage parks in the Midlands and public art trails in West Cork, each project is helping develop the visitor experience, strengthen local communities and showcase the best of rural Ireland.Meet some of last year's winners and discover what the Fund has made possible.
Spanish Point Cycling Tours
Kevin and Aron run Spanish Point Cycling Tours, a family-run cycling business. The Fund helped them expand their fleet of e-bikes and welcome more visitors to discover the landscapes, heritage and hospitality of West Clare.
Dún na Sí Amenity & Heritage Park
Olive and Sean help manage Dún na Sí Amenity & Heritage Park, a much-loved visitor attraction & community hub in Moate, Co. Westmeath. The Fund helped them upgrade the park's signage, helping direct visitors to the site and creating an even more welcoming destination for visitors and the local community.
Skibbereen’s Painted Past
Katy leads the Skibbereen’s Painted Past initiative, using the Fund to bring this corner of West Cork's history to life through a public art trail that encourages visitors to explore more of the town and support local businesses.
