Tucked away in a manzanita grove and perched on a cliff with the river below, the space offers privacy, views, and close access to the river. This little yurt packs a big punch: kitchenette, comfy lounge chairs, queen bed, table, wifi and ceiling fan. And rather than being a dreaded experience, the attached bathroom with epic views is one of the best features!

Exotic getaway in Sobrante hills

This is Mongolian traditional yurt when we married 40 years ago, our parents built it for us. It is located in our backyard about 90 feet from the street on the deck under pine trees. Path to the yurt has 12 steps and 15 degree up on some part of the deck. We have beautifully decorated, half around, eclectic full bathroom outside the yurt just 2 steps away. Yurt has low front door and low beds and seats. No tv, no wifi. It is out of your comfort zone! No human contact, self check in.

And yet town is only a 5 minute drive, allowing access to anything you might need during your stay. We consider our land a sacred, healing place. Before we built on this property we gave special homage to the Native peoples, and asked for blessings from the spirits to live here. We have discovered grinding rocks, shards of Chinese pottery, and ancient fire pits on the land.

Welcome to Camp Earnest, a 21 acre former summer camp tucked into the Sierras in northern California, about 140 miles east of SF. You'll be staying in one of our brand new cozy yurts, perched on the hillside over the lodge. Camp Earnest sits in a ponderosa, cedar and manzanita forest, with light snow in the winter and mild summers. We have a year round creek and hikes right off our property. Nearby are Dodge Ridge Ski Area, Pinecrest Lake, Calaveras Big Trees SP & Yosemite NP.
