Welcome to Aquila Cottage which is directly on the Hadrians Wall Path, Pennine Way and Cycleway Route 72. The cottage is in an unparallelled location just 150 yards from "the best bit" of Hadrians Wall at Walltown Crags and directly opposite the Roman Army Museum. There is a bus stop right (services include AD122) outside. We are perfectly located for walking, visiting the sites along Hadrians Wall, stargazing events at Walltown & Twice Brewed as well as visiting the lakes & Scottish Borders

Stonecrop is a much loved cottage and enjoys a tranquil setting with a large, attractive garden, situated in a stunning part of Northumberland. Guests are welcome to wander through our adjoining field to reach the banks of the river South Tyne. It was built in 1760 and has retained its original character whilst benefiting from all mod cons. Many guests return year after year and dogs are welcome too. Stonecrop is within easy reach of Hadrian’s Wall, the Yorkshire Dales, the Borders and Lakes.

All just minutes from Hadrian's Wall. Explore wonderful Northumberland, the Lake District to the West is an easy drive as is the Pennines to the South and Scotland to the North.

Windy Hall is somewhere very special. High in the Pennines it offers one of the finest views in England. You may want to stay and enjoy the views & seclusion, but we are also ideally placed for day trips to the Lake District, the magnificent cathedral city of Durham, and Hadrian's Wall. Limited parking and access at the house means parking is a steep 240m from the house so we will give you and your luggage a lift up on arrival. We also have a smaller cottage next door, which is listed separately on Airbnb, if you have a large party of guests wishing to get away from it all! About 1.5 miles from Hadrians Wall and around 4 miles from the local town of Haltwhistle which is merited with being the Centre of Britain. We are a fully working farm, around a 1000 acres, and have cows and sheep.
