Thank you Bob for all of your helpful tips although I do feel some of your (tips) to be a little distasteful and unfounded. I'm sorry if my reference to your beautiful Wife caused a question in your wife's mind. I only made the reference to her being beautiful because I was sure after hearing you speak of she and your family she must be a beautiful person on the inside and out.
Since we are a home AirBB and not a hotel our guest can be assured they will experience a more home feel rather than a cold hotel. With that being said we do try and offer as many convenience as a hotel setting has. We let all of our guest know that we have coffee, tea, and a water cooler available at all times for their convenience.
We have a swimming pool, outdoor kitchen and patio's our guest are welcome to use.
Currently we have central air and heat throughout our home and have since building it 17 1/2 years ago. Our first floor AC unit stopped working this past Monday and we have our AC man scheduled now to replace it. Each room has its own AC unit for each guest comfort.
The Air conditioner is available for the guest to adjust to their likes and dislikes. If you had taken the time to notice on the unit or hand control placed on the table beside the bed you would have seen that by the click of a finger you could have changed the setting on the AC unit . In doing so the unit wouldn't have gone off and on during the night interrupting your sleep.
While we do have guest that come in and stay in our rooms we also have family members that stay for long periods at a time so they do leave personal items in the wardrobe. However the closet in the room has plenty of space to hang your clothing and a shelf to place your suitcase. When I showed you to your room I did direct you to the bathroom and explained we had other guest that would be sharing the bath with you. As for your question of placement for your wet towel to hang and dry, on the wall beside the bed I have 5 pegs to hang a wet towel or wash cloth to dry. Each guest room has a basket of fresh clean towels and a new bar of soap sitting on the end of the bed or the chair for the guest to use. The towels hanging on the bathroom fixture are decorative only. As for the picture frame on the shelf you referenced in the bathroom, it was given to me last week by a guest. I haven't had a chance to get copies made of pictures small enough to place in the frame.
I'm sorry that the Bath and Body plugins caused you concern or breathing problems. I will make sure my future guest are made aware of them upon entry of our home. If at that time I need to remove the plug ins I will be more than happy to do so. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.
As I welcomed you to our home at the front door and introduced myself I told you to make yourself at home and feel free to sit in the room outside of your room or outdoor porches. I also sent you a text and offered the TV in the media room for you to watch and let you know my husband would be happy to help you become familiar with the controls. One thing we always like to do is make our guest feel at home and welcomed in any room of the house. I'm sorry we failed to do that with you.
I'm not sure why you couldn't open your window beside the AC unit. Both windows are easily unlocked and move smoothly up and down. The blinds I had just closed before you arrived so the late afternoon sun would not cause the room temp to get too hot. Just after reading your helpful list I did check both the blinds and windows and found them in working order.
Yes we do have working smoke alarms throughout the house as that is a requirement in the state of Florida when building a home.
The room you stayed in has 4 double electrical plugs and they all work. Ample electrical sockets for your iPad, laptops, phones and other electronics. As for the place to set your pocket items just across from the bed is a washstand with a 2 1-2 x 4 top to set your belongings on.
We do have other rooms for rent in our home that offers functional desk for working or writing letters. When you requested this particular room you didn't make the need for a desk known or I would have recommended a different room.
To set your mind at ease none of my precious deceased children ever slept in the room you stayed in so no worries. We lived in another home when they passed away.
My mother in law purchased the bear lamps and two bears in the room. I'm sorry they aren't to your taste but she loves them and that just happens to the room she chooses to stay in when she comes to visit us. I'm sure when you clicked on the picture to reserve the room the bears and lamps are in clear view as well as the height of the bed from the floor and the lack of a desk.
My my 5 ft 8inch 89 year old mother in love has never mentioned to me the degree of difficulty getting in and out of the bed. Please except my apologies for any problems that may have caused you. We prefer tile and wood floors over carpet. We find the carpet holds odor and stains that are much to hard to remove.
To my knowledge we've never had a guest unsure of place to park their car as we have a 450 ft driveway and space on either side to park. For Future guest I will install some parking signs. While I do have 3 gates to enter our home only the one that has a sidewalk leading to the home and is marked with the sign beside it that clearly says Welcome is the best one for our guest to enter. I will be sure to have my husband hang a sign on the gate that says Push to open so our guest don't have a problem entering the yard. As for the dogs getting out we keep them in our room or their kennels when we know our guest are arriving or leaving so as not to cause a problem. But I do want to thank you for being concerned for their well being. They are just as much a part of our family as our children and grandchildren.
Again Bob I do appreciate your tips and thank you for giving us a try. I apologize for any discomfort you experienced while staying with us over night. As with all of our experiences in life some are wonderful and some aren't. I'm so sorry we aren't a good fit for you. I pray you have nothing but great AirBB stays in the future.
May God Bless you and your family.
