Bring your tent and set up camp in our lovely woodland in West Dorset. You will be alone with the stars at night and wake up to birdsong in the morning. Make use of nearby facilities at our roundwood barn, including outdoor sink, compost loo, fire circle and outdoor hot shower. We offer complete seclusion as we only have one camping group at a time. Maximum 6 people (well-behaved dog allowed).
On arrival, you drive 300m along a woodland track to a gate and into a private area of our woodland (no walkers). You park by our barn which is set in a lovely secluded woodland clearing. You walk a few metres through the trees to a flat camping space that overlooks a gully (site of nature conservation interest) and put up your tent (or tents). Then it's just you, your family/friends, the stars and the woodland creatures. We occasionally use the area around the barn for a Forest School session and we may be working there during the day. Other than that (and always at evenings/night/early mornings) you will have the woodland to yourselves. It is a sublime experience!

You are welcome to use the outside sink and outdoor hot shower at the barn and there is a basic forest loo nearby (long-drop). Although the barn will be locked, you can shelter/eat in the large open-sided area of the barn if it rains. There is also a large fire circle in the clearing, which is great for campfire cooking.

We do not live on site - we live in nearby town of Beaminster.
We will be available to help with anything but will leave you in peace to enjoy the woodland.
Firewood (at £5 per bag) and local charcoal is available to buy from us.
Outras coisas a ter em conta
This is wild-ish camping for self-sufficient campers! Bring your own tent (or tents) and everything you need.
There is hot and cold water to outdoor sink and outdoor shower (heated by a calor gas boiler, which can be temperamental but we are available to sort it out, if necessary!). Water is mains water so is drinkable.
There is NO electricity so no lighting (great for star gazing!). Don't forget torches/camping lights!
We wish to protect the site and facilities from over-use and have set a limit of 6 people at a time camping (including children). We would consider allowing a dog but not one who will keep disappearing to worry wildlife. We want to protect the beauty and serenity of the place!
PLEASE NOTE: You may leave bottles for us to recycle and vegetable peelings for compost but all rubbish must be taken with you when you leave.
Please respect nature and leave no trace.
I have travelled to lots of countries but I love living in West Dorset. It is truly beautiful here - if you haven't visited yet, then you should! I have never seen anything worldwide that compares to the golden cliffs at West Bay, near Bridport. I like walking and swimming in the sea (when the weather allows!). I live with my partner and cat and work locally in education, including Forest School. A few years ago I did a solo walk from here to Exmouth along the coastal path staying at various b & bs along the way. It's nice to get away on your own sometimes and the garden room listing is for those who like the idea of doing so. We also own a woodland in the nearby village of Netherbury. We love to camp there and are now offering the chance for private camping for one tent (up to 6 people). Immersed in nature with only the stars and woodland creatures for company - it doesn't get better than that!
