Yes, we have experienced a few bad situations in 4 seasons of renting the house. We also have an expensive property we have to protect. There is no other place like this on Bolivar for rent. If we don't go over the rules in detail and then something happens, we are faced with not telling our respective Tenants what is expected. The $200 cleaning fee only covers what we expect to clean when the house is returned to us. You and your family went beyond what we expected and appreciate the effort. Typical turn around time to clean the house if everything is done as asked is 12 hours. As you know, this is a large house with nothing but hard surfaces. We want anyone who stays here to feel like they are staying at a house no one else has even lived in. We strive to have it as clean as possible. Given the house is booked all summer, this is a challenge that we have to manage.
Air BNB does not allow us to send any type of document (rental contract) in advance. In fact, we are not even paid until our guest has stayed the first night. This home is typically rented out (90% of the time) via (Hidden by Airbnb) . With the (Hidden by Airbnb) site, we can send in advance the complete rental agreement, something we could not do with your rental due to Air BNB, thus the need for my Wife to spend the additional time with you at check-in. Sorry this created stress for you. This was certainly not our intention, but at the same time we have an expensive property we have to protect.
