Able to accommodate up to 30 persons, we have a huge living room, an even larger dining/social room and a seriously immense (commercial) kitchen - just ideal for get-togethers with friends or family! Its very private ....and very safe !

O espaço
Formerly the "Hotel de La Paix" in the beautiful riverine village of La Trimouille in country France - "Le Logis Alexandra " has been totally renovated into a charming lodge ideal for long stayers wanting to explore this marvellously diverse region and is especially suitable for large groups.
The building is more than 300 years old but the improvements are new (we opened in late summer of 2013 after more than three years of renovations).

From the hotel's 18 original bedrooms we have created 3 apartment-style suites (two with kitchenette facilities) and 5 ensuite bedrooms - a total of 12 bedrooms and 9 1/2 bathrooms - to accommodate up to 30* persons.

Note: Two of the family suites have sofas that can convert into double beds * which have been included in this number bringing the total number of Double beds to 11 - OR - 13 if 2 Super King beds are created from the 4 Super King Singles in Bedroom No's 2 & 7.

Downstairs are extensive social and entertainment areas - the living room (50 s.m.), dining room (45 s.m.) and a huge commercial kitchen (45 s.m.); there are also toilet facilities on the ground floor (2) and on the first floor landing.

We have high speed broadband wifi (free) throughout, TV (including English & American channels) ; central heating & secure lockup for bicycles/motor bikes with ample, and safe, parking on either side of us.

Located just off the village square (behind the Mairie) we are seconds away from the Bakery, the Sports Bar (with Billiard table), Cinema, Doctors' Surgery & Post Office; three minute's walk down to the river you will find another Doctors' Surgery, Bank w/ATM, Stationer's (also w/ATM), Pharmacy and Convenience Store and, wonder of wonders, an electric car charge station. Across the bridge is our local Bar/Restaurant (offering both Moroccan & French cuisines) a picnic area with pétanque green, tennis courts and, in the camping ground opposite, a children's play area.

We are ideally sited being less than 3 1/2hrs from Paris by car (half way between Paris and Bordeaux/Toulouse OR Lyon to La Rochelle) and just 4 ½ hrs from St Malo, 5 hrs from Dieppe & 6 hrs from Calais for travellers from England.

Getting here from the UK is easy on the Eurostar - London to Lille Europe (1 hr 20 mins), 9 minutes walk to the Lille Flandres Train Station where you will board the TGV to Poitiers (3 hrs 30 mins) and then the regional train to Montmorillon (3/4hr).....easy peasy!

Montmorillon is our closest town (12 minutes drive) where you can rent a car (Panda Fiat) for the incredible price of just 6€/ day (plus 0.12centimes/ klm).

And if you don't want to drive, arrangements can be made to drive you around to all of the attractions in the area.

We have have a 7-seater MPV and there are other MPV's available in the village for large groups.

For walkers and cyclists the area is fantastic with well marked paths and trails throughout the commune (bicycles can be hired).

Within 15 minutes (by car) you can see 10th century frescos, a Unesco World Heritage Site, Romanesque Abbeys, Chateaux, incredibly picturesque Medieval Villages, Bio farms, Open-air Food Markets, Fêtes and Exhibitions and ancient grain and textile mills straddling rivers - sights that will remain in your memory forever.

You can kayak, shoot rapids, go fishing, deer stalking or hunt for wild boar; you can play golf, take therapeutic thermal spas, have the best facial ever, get your chi realigned by a brilliant Cambodian acupuncturist or attend mediation classes in a Buddhist retreat or even visit a Kundalini Yoga Temple.

This is country France - where life continues in much the same way as it did over the past centuries.

Quiet, gentle, unhurried and safe; where the air is clean, the produce fresh, the traditions time-honoured - a rural region still with unspoiled places to explore and remarkable sights to see.

Welcome to the heartland of rural France - "La France Profonde"!

Le Logis Alexandra is available for rental on a group basis for up to 30 persons starting at 715€ /night for two night's minimum stay (approx. €23 per person per night); or 3,900€ for the week ( c. €18.00 per person per week). This price increases to 850€/night in the summer season, on national (bank) holidays, feast days and, of course, Easter and the Christmas/New Year holiday season.

Onde estará

La Trimouille, Vienne, Poitou-Charentes, Poitou-Charentes, França

OUR VILLAGE - Its gentle. Its safe. Its kind, Its courteous. And its tolerant.

La Trimouille itself is really rather beautiful in an understated way - no artifice, no contrivances.

It is an authentic, non-touristic, living village in the heartland of France - where the bakery is the centre of the universe and everyone knows everyone!

There's no noise, no pollution, no nasties of any kind (the occasional dog poop in the street but then, this IS France!).

You can play tennis right here in the village, fish along the banks of the Benaize, or just ramble through woods following the overgrown train tracks of yesteryear. You can go further afield and visit medieval villages, 10th-12th century churches and abbeys, and one of the most beautiful villages in France. The opportunities for sightseeing are endless whether you are interested in visiting natural animal reserves, chateaux, or Futuroscope (less than an hour away)

La Trimouille is sited strategically in a region which offers an incredible array of sights, sites and activities.....for a start it is less than 3 hrs from Paris (by train) ; a little over 2 hrs to La Rochelle on the coast, 3 hrs to the Dordogne, Bordeaux or Toulouse and in within half an hour you can see amazing living examples of 10th -14th architecture, Merovingian remains and even a few sacred pagan monuments ( just 3,000 years old) scattered about in the woods and fields.

Absolutely Amazing to an Antipodean!!

Well, if you tell me what you are interested in I think can really be of help ... and I'd love to show you around if you wanted....

I am a New Zealand born Australian citizen, ex antique dealer, ex lots of other things, and a committed francophile which is why I purchased this old hotel at the end of 2009. Since then I've been involved on a massive renovation programme (although it didn't start out that way!) with the accommodation part of the old Hotel de la Paix now finished. Its been fraught with difficulties, especially as I came to France BEFORE being able to speak French ( I don't know why but I thought by being here (through some sort of osmosis I guess) I would become fluent - I'd often heard the process referred to as "immersion". ……….well it didn't work for me and despite having had hundreds of lessons over the past number of years, I 'm still pretty hopeless. But I absolutely love being here in France, particularly in this region of west/central France - the scenery, the changing seasons, that special light ever present in autumn, the animals (I just love the black faced sheep, the goats and the Poitevine donkeys "les Baudet du Poitou" with their full length shaggy hair) - even the clouds look different. Then of course there are the weekly fresh food markets - really, what a marvellous way to buy one's food, while from spring through autumn we have this mad frenzy of Sunday brocantes (giant flea markets and car boot sales held in villages and fields throughout France) where the brocanteurs seem to have as much fun socialising with their fellow vendors as we, the devotees have in our endless quest for that serendipitous find. Above all I love the sense of history that pervades throughout the countryside - particularly in this region where every village has a 10th or 12th century church, where the most fantastic frescos hide within crypts in tiny little unmarked chapels, where you chance upon the most amazing sights - a romanesque abbey in second position to a working farmyard, a merovingian graveyard nestled below the funnels of a nuclear power station, the remains of a fortified medieval city perched precariously on a rocky outcrop, those Gothic and Roman bridges you come across as you meander through the countryside with your GPS switched to "shortest" routes. In fact I turn on my GPS as soon as I get in the car as, in its perversity, I am often taken a totally different route to the same destination and get to chance upon yet another chateau, abbey, hamlet or village that I never knew existed. I find every day just plain exciting! The other thing is that here (this village, this region, this area) one feels totally safe - in the nearly four years I have lived here I have never ever felt unsafe, insecure or concerned for my personal safety or concerned about security in any way whatsoever. This is "la France profonde" where life goes on the way it used to - except of course the people are missing - such a high percentage having made their move to the big cities over the past 30 years! Though we're half way between Paris and Toulouse or Paris and Bordeaux you don't see streams of tourists blocking your vistas; you can drive down the country roads and not see another soul for miles and miles; there are no traffic jams and there is no litter. No graffiti, no (Website hidden by Airbnb) fact no nasties whatsoever and the "ados" (the teenagers) are courteous and well mannered - Quelle surprise! Walking is a pleasure, cycling a delight and boating of any sort a great way to spend a weekend. Here we are surrounded by walking paths - some through woods, some across pastures, some along the riversides and many along the old disused railway lines (all clearly marked); our little commune has itself, more than 100 km of riverbank to explore. This is a fantastic place to visit if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life (and yes, we do have broadband internet in the village) and even if you are not a culture vulture or a diehard rambler you will find stacks of things to do here - we are surrounded by animal reserves, have a famous thermal spa just up the road and for science enthusiasts Futuroscope is less than an hour away. Plus we have white river rafting, kayaking, tree climbing via wires, horse riding, mountain bike and car racing circuits - you can even take flying lessons (from an English instructor) just 15 minutes drive southbound. Or you can have painting lessons, cooking lessons and dare I say it, French lessons here. Please refer to the links showing areas of interest at Le Logis B and B France - you'll be amazed at what you can do here! I hope you will be able to come and visit this region one day and see for yourself how magical it it! My very best, Alexandra
