Brags - as discussed, we feel this is a matter of differences in taste. You rented our rustic cabin in the woods and 10 tents. The entire place was spotless -- it took 17 man-hours to make sure of this in preparation for your arrival -- other than a new stain on one of the 12 rugs that wouldn't come out. This is an incredibly safe and secure area, so we do not have locks for our tents, and it's actually very hard to find a new door knob on a Sunday in Pemberton. Sorry; the previous night's guests broke that, but the lock still worked perfectly as it was not connected to the knob. The junk you're referring -- a rug that was too dirty from the previous rental to not be replaced with a backup, and a damaged foamie -- were tucked away in our maintenance area, which nobody should have ventured over to anyway. It would have been great to get those off the property before your arrival, or to have had the opportunity to drive up there and get them myself had you let me know that they were bothering you. I appreciate your feedback on that and my caretaker followed up with the fellow who was supposed to have removed them that day. They are gone now. That maintenance area totals about 100 sq ft on an 810,000 square foot property, all of which is pristine, so we are all surprised that you were not able to focus on the beautiful views and the lovely gathering space instead of spending time way in the back of the property looking at that stuff. Our rate is based on the full facility sleeping 25-27 people, which is exceptionally good value in this area. Guests should understand that this is an outdoor adventure experience and have a look at our photos with natural vegetation in a mountain meadow. We have a patio large enough for 30 people to sit at tables for meals, a large area around the fire pit with no grass (it's mulch) and the rest is pathways through 12" tall grass to each of the tents, to provide a natural mountain meadow look and feel. We do not have a manicured lawn. The property is not fenced in. And the mosquitos are almost all gone for the season. Sorry -- you did come right at dusk when they were at their worst and this was a bad year for mosquitos, so I can understand why that may have set a negative tone for your arrival. Typically they are only bad in early June, but we had a lot of rain this year. All of the tents are completely sealed off to bugs and all of our other guests during the 6 weeks before your trip, and the 3 weeks since have absolutely loved sleeping in them. Our guests from the night before you loved it so much they wanted to extend their stay but of course I honoured my commitment to you. Aside from the mosquitos, which would be have an issue anywhere in this area during early July, we are surprised that your complaint about one stained rug has turned into a review saying the whole place was not clean, and we are very disappointed that you did not give us the chance to solve these problems for you before you decided to leave. I would hope that anybody considering booking our place in the future would A) be prepared to honour their commitment to us and B) give us the opportunity to rectify any minor problems like those you encountered, and C) read the listing and look at the photos to establish appropriate expectations. This is our home when it is not being used for events, and we are not super fancy people, but I can assure you, we are used to a pretty high standard of cleanliness and tidiness and I'd hate to see a couple of weeks of bad mosquitos at dusk cause concern about the quality of their work, or prevent more people from having the time of their life at our place.
