Annabel's Room is located at the home and studio of Judith Davis, a sculptor.

We welcome people from all cultural backgrounds.

O Espaço

Our home is a also a gallery of the art which guests enjoy seeing and talking about with Judith.

Acesso de hóspedes

Guests are welcome to enjoy eating breakfast or relaxing on the deck behind the house where there is a table and chairs and two love seats with cushions and pillows.
NOTE: While the bathroom is shared with the hosts, there is another bathroom which can also be used. The hosts plan their showers so that they are taken when the guests are not home. The hosts use the other bathroom when the guests are home. Guests report that they are not even aware that they are "sharing" a bathroom.

Outras coisas a ter em conta

Judith has a "hearing dog", Annabel, who is friendly and well-behaved. We also have 3 cats who are also friendly. We do NOT let any of the animals in Annabel's room, even when guests are not here.

Judith and John were the most lovely, kind and fun people. We have a fabulous experience staying at their home. The pictures and posting are 100% percent accurate. The bed was VERY comfortable which is a big deal! Sharing a bathroom with them was like not sharing a bathroom at all. The pets were friendly yet gave you space if you wanted it. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast every morning and were in heaven eating Judith's decadent homemade coffee cake. The backyard was quiet and peaceful - we enjoyed relaxing on the porch and playing cornhole! The restaurants on either side of their home were absolutely delicious, including the ice cream shop next to Anna D's. I highly recommend the pulled pork taco's at Fieldstones. Judith truly is a superhost!!! She went out of her way to ensure our comfort and happiness. We wanted to go to the beach but weren't prepared so Judith gave us a tote with towels and chairs!! She made sure we had everything we needed for our 6 mos old baby as well and even played with him so we could eat breakfast in peace. Judith's place was a home away from home.

Judith,It was a pleasure meeting you. And it is certainly a pleasure to say how wonderful our stay at your home was. It turned out to be even better than advertised. The room was clean, comfortable and the breakfast was super yummy. It was my boyfriends first time doing Airbnb and he was a bit apprehensive. I’m glad to say he was so impressed with the experience and Judith that he wants to make our trip a yearly tradition! All was spotlessly clean and the linens and towels generously supplied. The apartment could not be better located (just a short drive to downtown Newport). It was nice to come sleep at a quiet room after the bustling day spent in new port. If you have a chance to come to the area I would definitely recommend staying with Judith! My only regret is that our stay was far too short!

Judith and John are caring people. Great comfortable bed. Cold bottled water at all times Simple continental breakfast that included hard boiled eggs to our delight. The bathroom is shared with the hosts as stated and there were no resulting inconveniences. Their home is filled with Judith’s art to which my wife enjoyed conversing with Judith over the details and I focused on John’s artisan workmanship. The home is also shared by their friendly dog and 3 cats.

Judith's place was a great stay for my girlfriend and me while exploring Newport for the weekend. It is a great place for guests wanting interaction with residents as Judith was so helpful with suggesting places and even had breakfast for us in the morning! Can't wait to come back to the Newport area!

Judith and John are exceptional, warm, caring people. Their home is filled with wonderful art, much by Judith herself. The room that we stayed in was perfect. Great comfortable bed. Cold bottled water at all times and plenty of space for our things. We shared a bath with them which Judith had organized so we knew exactly what towels, soap etc was ours to use. The great plus besides getting to know them was the breakfast that Judith prepared each morning for us. The other wonderful addition was their suggestions for things to do and places to eat. We so enjoyed our stay and would love to return one day.

We love B&B travel ourselves and enjoy meeting and chatting with people if they so choose.
We also have been mailing future guests a copy of the Newport County Magazine which comes out annually and talks about "everything there is to know, see and do" here.

Sobre Judith

JUDITH DAVIS (Wheatley)

In 2001, Judith Davis retired from a successful career as an executive in the high tech industry. A month after retiring, she “unplugged” from that world, left her laptop and cell phone at home, and took a self-imposed five-month sabbatical to an island off the coast of Fiji. Known worldwide for their capacity to nurture, the Fijians recognized Judith’s need to guard her privacy while she slowly recovered from the relentless demands of the ever-changing world of communication dictated by the internet. Sleeping, writing , and swimming in the South Pacific Ocean gradually washed away the remnants of that rat race. What emerged was the desire for a more contemplative, introspective, and creative life.

At the risk of being dubbed eccentric, Judith describes her emergence as an artist as a “Tsunami of the Soul”. Her life as a sculptor began while rummaging around antique barns where she found herself mysteriously drawn to the sculptural beauty and patina of discarded rusty metal. Secretive about the origins of the various elements of her work, she swears that these found objects tell her what they want to be, reflecting what matters most to her – the arts, culture wars, politics, and family. Inspired by her fascination with Carl Jung’s archetypal shadow work, what emerges are captivating works whose beauty is illuminated and intensified by shadows.

Over the years, Judith has come to think of her sculptures as her “voice”. “A Song for Newtown” honors the lives lost in the massacre at Sandy Hook. “Civil Discourse” encourages respectful political debate. “Upward Spiral” celebrates recovery from addiction. “Ode to the Dalai Lama” is a call for peace. You can see all of her sculptures on

Judith grew up in Winchester, Massachusetts. She earned a BA, an MBA, and was awarded the distinction of Presidential Scholar. She spent a year studying in Paris with a group of twenty students and a professor who drove them all over France, visiting the great cathedrals and museums. She attributes her love for art to having been fortunate enough to visit the private studios of Picasso, Matisse, and Winslow Homer, and to her years as an executive, travelling to cities at home and abroad, where she always made time to visit art galleries and museums. She lives with her husband and artisan, John, their three cats and her beloved hearing dog, Annabel. Judith makes both her home and studio on Aquidneck Island, in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, six miles from Newport, where she is represented by Jessica Hagen of the Jessica Hagen Gallery.
