We appreciate the very nicely written, thorough and mostly favorable review Rachel wrote and are of course delighted that Rachel and Molly had a mostly enjoyable time. We totally know that Rachel and Molly were exemplary guests.
Before guests arrive, in our "welcome" message on the Airbnb message thread, we make it a point to repeat key info, also offered but frequently not read, as part of the directions/check-in info, once a reservation is confirmed - we repeat this to make sure guests have this. After reading Rachel's review, I once again checked the message thread and did see that the "walking at night" helpful tips were there in my message to her and other important details were also in the Airbnb message thread.
We are hoping that future guests actually do read, especially, this "welcome" or intro message we send before arrival, as it has key information. Or, with any questions or issues, contact us, as we often have the answer. Unfortunately, we also noted in checking the message thread to Rachel that, again, many key words, regarding valuable check-in info, had been blocked out by Airbnb, even though she was a confirmed guest. This is something which we will address yet again with Airbnb, as it has the absence of this info has caused check-in problems in the past and it is crucial that these key details get imparted to our guests.
Also, we have gotten complaints before that these details, our THOROUGH explanations, somehow don't come through on the Airbnb phone APP and are simply not available for guests to read.
So, HERE is the information discussed above which can also be read by confirmed guests and in several places - if guests are concerned about the road, we ask them to use the below grade, off-the-road bridal path (on the opposite side of the road) to walk on, especially at night, or if there is a concern, simply pay 60 pesos for a taxi ride home.
Regarding town water - outages are now rare. In this instance, there was a problem with the pump which sends water to our area. We are so sorry that any guest should experience this outage and do apologize, although we were on the phone diligently with the town water people right away and happy the situation got resolved fairly quickly. Rachel's praise of Guadalupe and her family is well placed and well deserved.
