A 33 m2 self-contained first floor flat within a manor house belonging to a singer and a writer where artist residencies take place during the summer.
Chateau de Sacy is a “maison bourgeoise,” situated in the middle of a large organic garden and surrounded by many tall trees. It stands at the entrance of a charming village of 500 inhabitants, and the Chateau has retained many of its original features from the 18th century. It is right next to the village church and easy to find.
The Armistice clearing and the Chateaux of Chantilly and Compiègne are all within 20km. Trains to Paris take only 35 minutes, and a 7 km taxi or bus ride. There is a lovely walk through the woods - with a chapel where Joan of Arc is believed to have prayed - to the next village. Bicycles may be lent. For basics such as bread, cheese, and other things, there are nearby shops and markets only 2 km away in the next village. There is also a nearby farmer where one can buy fresh eggs and milk and vegetables. There are bread and wine deliveries to the manor, and an excellent charcuterie (butcher) in town. In the nearby town, there is an outdoor market twice a week, and in the springtime there is a brocante (flea market) every weekend.
The flat is available all year round except June and July. It has a double bed in an alcove in the main room with a chimney, walk-in closet and wi-fi connection. In the quaint room, there is a writing desk in front of a window which looks out over the chateau’s lawn and trees and part of the village. There is a roomy connected bathroom, which has a shower and w.c. Also attached is a small but fully-equipped kitchen where one can prepare and eat meals.
All bedding and towels provided; there is access to the washing machine and the bath (if desired).
