This bright and cozy house offers a beautiful panorama view over rice fields. Located at the edge of a suburban village it is the perfect spot to relax in tropical nature and to explore the village life. Although in the countryside, it´s located only 15 min away from Jogja´s city center.

We are a German-Indonesian family that has been in love with this area for years. All day, there blows a soft, chill wind, the Sawah Breeze, that invites people to relax and forget about their everyday life.

O Espaço

Built of washed bricks, the house offers one cool and spacious room that is furnished with a wooden king size bed (180 x 200) and suits well to individuals and couples. Thanks to it´s panorama windows, the room is bright and provides a wonderful view over the front yard garden and the rice fields behind.

The house is surrounded by tropical nature. Birds chirp in the morning, a chill breeze blows all day, geckos crawl around and at night frogs are performing their concert in the fields.

Witness all this from a set of restored traditional chairs on the wooden terrace that invite to sit, relax and enjoy watching the tranquil life in the rice fields.

Attached to the house there is an semi-open-air bathroom that is beautifully designed using natural materials. The toilet and sink area, however, is covered with a transparent roof that makes sure that you stay dry during rain. In our unique jungle shower you can take a bath both with cool or hot water.

In our semi-open air kitchen you can make coffee or tea for free. It is equipped with a stove, basic kitchen utensils and a water dispenser - perfect to prepare snacks or a simple meal.

On request, we provide an extra bed (140x200, matrass on the floor) for up to 2 people.

FOOD
We serve breakfast with a choice of several dishes: Bread & egg, Muesli, Bubur (rice porridge with vegetable) or Nasi Goreng (fried rice) together with coffee, tea and fruits.

In walking distance in the nearby village and along the main road, there are several Warung (food stalls) serving local food during day and nighttime. A 10 min walk away, there are 2 small hotels that offer a choice of Western food.

Interação com hóspedes

We are Silke and Riyanto and are happy to welcome you in our weekend hideaway guesthouse. We live in one of the nearby villages and speak English, German, Indonesian and a little bit of Spanish, French and Russian. In case we are on the road ourselves, there will be an English-speaking friend that is helping you with checking in and answering questions.

Outras coisas a ter em conta

By building “Sawah Breeze” we wanted to create a place where we can both connect to the area around and enjoy privacy. We decided to not build any fences or walls with the aim to live in harmony with the people and the nature next to us. In case you need privacy, you always have the chance to close the door and rest inside.

You may see farmers working on the fields or tending sheep and they may look at you or greet you. In that case, we kindly ask you to just smile and greet back and contribute to the harmonic atmosphere that the people there are used to.

Our land is located in the middle of tropical nature. And of course, there are also other creatures living there. We do our best to separate their and our habitat but please consider this fact when making a booking.

CHILDREN
“Sawah Breeze” and the rice fields are a perfect natural playground for children – also for ours. However, we do not promote the place as kids friendly. Especially toddlers might not be completely safe due to the nearby stream as well as the ditches in the fields.

I feel so grateful to have met Silke & Riyanto and stay in their gorgeous place. The cabin is super beautiful with an unbeatable view and it's maybe 20 minutes outside the city's main attractions, but it's no problem to grab an online taxi for cheap. They're super communicative and caring and anyone would be lucky to stay at their place. A highlight of my two weeks in Indonesia for sure!

Silke has been great at communicating, trying to arrange the best of us. Unfortunately we were unable to meet him, we were greeted by Anis, his cousin. We were dropped off at a wrong location but Anis and her husband picked us up and sent us to the airbnb. The place is amazing, looks way better than the photos, this place is seriously underrated, great view of the paddy field, the breakfast over sunrise and purple orange skies at dawn. Anis and her husband is great, arranged our itinerary for 2 days and try to make the most of our time there. Thank you so much for everything, it will be a trip to remember.

This place really is beautiful. It's out of time and out of a space most city people are used to. The home is a small haven within an area surrounded by padi fields and trees. The porch is amazing to watch the sunrise from or have breakfast (that is provided if you ask) at. The area is really stunning. If you need to travel out of the area, Silke and Riyanto suggested a bike, rented. But we weren't as adventurous, we hired Narto, the driver. If you decide to stay in and your idea is to completely soak in the nature of it, this is the place for you. Silke or Riyanto check in on you every morning when breakfast comes, they give us useful trip advice. When I was ill, I was shown nothing but concern and Riyanto said he is only a phonecall away. It was really a kind gesture. Riyanto also owns a hand made ceramics establishment and the products are beautiful. One thing to note is really minor. The open air bathroom is really quite open air. Since this was the rainy season in Jogja, it would rain in the afternoon and early mornings. As I was unwell, I had to use the washroom frequently but it was not easy in the rain. Silke was very kind and did mention that there are plans to cover the top of the sink and the area with the toilet. Silke was obviously sorry about that and came over just to make sure we were fine. In the rainy season, the night is cool and you require no airconditioning or fan. But it does get warm between 10am to 3pm. Aside from that, you will enjoy your stay here. (:

Resposta de Silke & Riyanto:
Dear Sin, thank you for your kind review. Indeed, we were really concerned about you, seeing that you were suffering with your sickness. Nevertheless, we are happy that you liked staying in our house and we hope that you´ve become better already. By the way, we have added a transparent roof on top of the sink and toilet area. So, the bathroom is still light and natural, but dry in the rain. Only the shower is still uncovered - we believe that showering in the rain is a unique experience ;). Have a good time and all the best :)!

This is one of those rare finds - amazing place and wonderful hosts. For being so close to the city, it's nicely tucked away, so you can't hear the road and you have a fantastic view across the rice fields. The hosts are so helpful and friendly, I felt welcomed and at home. Looking forward so much to staying again.

We've been the first guests of Silke and Riyanto and we can only say the best about them and their accomondation! We've been picked up by Riyanto for free and he immediately organized a scooter for us (by the way one oft he best scooters we ever rented in south east asia). At the first evening he also brought us a fresh homemade passion fruit juice, which was very delicious. The cozy house is located near a small village, just a 15 minutes drive from the busy Jogja city center, with a beautiful and romantic view over the ricefields and the lovely small garden. The perfect place for relaxing after sightseeing. The pictures on airbnb are absolutely authentic and if you see the house, the garden and the fields in fact, everything is even much better. We were positively surprised, because the room is much bigger than we expected and there is also a small kitchen with a gas cooking station, a few cooking utensils and enough drinking water, coffee and tea. The room and the outdoor bathroom (with western toilet and hot shower) was decorated with flowers and everything was totally clean. The big bed was very comfy and had a mosquito net. There also was good working wifi. For breakfast we could choose between different dishes. The yoghurt for the muesli was homemade and you should try the rice porridge with vegetables!!! Everything was delicious and you get fresh fruits every day. We had a lot of interresting conversations with Silke about her life in Indonesia, the people and history and she gave us very good information about trips in Jogja and the surrounding areas. Silke took a lot of time helping us and was always reachable. We are so happy to be the first guests from Silke and Riyanto and we highly recommended their beautiful house to everyone. We felt very comftable and welcome and if we ever will be in Jogja again, we definitely will come back!!!

We are a German-Indonesian family with 2 princesses that lives in the suburbs of Yogyakarta Indonesia. Silke is a psychologist and works as an Intercultural Consultant, Riyanto is an artist and runs a ceramic and home design export company.
We have been in love with the area around our guesthouse since years. We love nature and the tranquility of village life there. Our daughters enjoy playing in the fields, looking for "golden beetles", running and cycling around and also sometimes getting very muddy ;).
We built our guesthouse to have a place to relax at the weekend, to welcome relatives and friends and - to provide a convenient spot for guests from all over the world that like being in nature and experience Indonesian rural life from up close.
