I never usually reply to reviews because it is extremely rare I get a bad review but
again I am really sad you reacted in such a way as to completely floor me over a very innocent comment.
I am an experienced Superhost and I have been doing this for 5 years and I have hosted nearly 500 guests and I send out the same message to everyone and it is only you that has taken such offence at my checkout message! All I say in my message is ....
To our lovely guests , we hope you have enjoyed your stay?
When you checkout before you leave please put rubbish in the wheelie bins and leave Maycroft clean and tidy ......
This is what you have reacted so badly too !
It is a very innocent comment and as I explained to you all guests can be very different in their respect for a property so we ask guests to leave a property clean and tidy as oppose to leaving it in a complete mess ! All we were asking is for you to do your own washing up and put your rubbish in the bins etc ,we were not asking for you to clean the oven , toilets, bathrooms , hoover and clean out the cupboards obviously! Nearly all hosts charge a cleaning charge on Airbnb and it is perfectly normal. This is a very small contribution towards all the bedding, towels and cleaning on a property that sleeps 5 people. This helps keep the price per night rate down and it is normal procedure. You had already paid that Roy and you certainly didn’t receive the checkout message on the day you arrived!
As for the dog thing Roy again you have completely taken it the wrong way. I manage lots of properties and I have very recently asked guests who want to bring a dog to stay to contribute towards their Dogs staying rather than owners having to pay for dogs to go into kennels which costs a fortune. If you had actually bought a dog then you would’ve received the appropriate message but as you didn’t bring the dog you didn’t get that message.
Again all I said was” if you have brought a doggie to stay them please clean up any mess ( I don’t expect my cleaners to have to pick up dog mess in the garden)
And leave a contribution most guests happily leave between £5 and £10 pdpn” I don’t think this is out of order at all and usually guests wanting to bring a dog ask me first so I obviously then explain the terms but as you were not bringing a dog I don’t quite know why you have reacted so badly to this.
If 499 guests are all happy with my checkout message and 1 person isn’t then there is a lot to be said in that !
I am a superhost and I have been this consistently for a very long time and this means I have gained a 5* rating by 88 % of guests who judge me on all sorts of things and one of them is communication.
I tried explaining everything to you and it is such a shame that the location , cleanliness, value and actual accommodation was all lovely for you but a very normal innocent comment caused you to react in such a very angry way. All other reviews surrounding your review are completely positive and most say great communication and great host and they all received exactly the same message!
You can’t please everybody all of the time but I’m so glad I do most of the time! : )
