Thank you for your input. We're happy that the convenience of our location to your work site was appreciated. When I wrote to you before your arrival, I answered your questions about both breakfast and parking. (I'll paste that letter here at the end of this response.) We were very aware that having to replace a bathtub in a guest house would pose a temporary inconvenience for our guests. The second full bath in the house was indeed busy and we offered all of our guests a $25 rebate for their inconvenience. Your kind note when you declined that offer told me you understood that sometimes inconvenience can't be avoided and I appreciate that! Please do write back to me on the bed. You didn't mention while you were with us that the bed was uncomfortable. It is a firm mattress - was that the issue? All of our mattresses are barely a year old so we are surprised but hope you'll let us know if your personal preference is for a softer mattress. We might not be able to accommodate such a change but at least we can adjust our advertising here to indicate that our mattresses are firm. No one wants to be surprised when they travel and we've built our business around keeping that mission foremost in our minds when talking about our amenities. Your input is very important to us. Sincerely, Linda and Tom (Here's a copy of our earlier correspondence.)
Good morning Kate,
Your room will be ready for your arrival on August 31! When a guest pays our daily rate continental breakfast is included but our monthly rate does not include that meal. The good news is that , yes, our communal kitchen is fully supplies with gadgetry, pans, dishes, utensils, etc., and storage space for pantry items/ fridge and freezer items and a bit more can be found if you have special appliances like an espresso maker, etc. The basement laundry includes washer/ dryer/ folding table, iron and ironing board. Our communal living room has a comfy sofa and chairs and a big tv for watching Syracuse University sports. Your room has a flat screen TV and we offer all utilities, basic cable and WiFi.
Our concierge, Catherine, has a menu of fee for service options that many of our guests enjoy including: wash and fold service for linens and towels, personal laundry, personal housekeeping, meal planning, meal prep. She generally has a variety of healthy items for muffins, cookies and grab and go lunches. Her meals are a treat on those days when you're just too beat to do it yourself! She'll let you know how much advance notice she requires.
Our guests work all shifts and are respectful of each other's crazy schedules. We do ask for the general nicities when using the kitchen in the wee hours. And, we do ask that guests not use the laundry after 9pm.
Coffee, tea and filtered water are complementary. By all means, fill your mug before leaving in the morning! Parking is on street but not alternating so it's pretty easily managed and free!
Just ask if you can think of any more questions. We look forward to hosting your stay.
Linda and Tom
