O espaço
Our home sits up on a hill and feels so private like your own tree house, yet close to everything. The guest suite is connected to our home on one end and has its own private, outside entrance. It’s a loft-like studio with 10' ceilings, and natural light throughout. Enjoy 500 square feet of living space with cable TV, WIFI and A/C. Everything in our guest suite is new as of 2018! The queen bed has 450 thread-count sateen sheets with a hypoallergenic mattress protector, down duvet and memory foam pillows. There's a tufted sofa that converts to a full size sleeper bed, coffee table, bistro table with chairs and sitting area with TV. The modern bathroom has a walk-in glass shower with large vanity mirror. All towels and fine linens are provided and are washed with hypoallergenic detergent. Liquid body soap, shampoo and conditioner are provided in the shower. In the morning enjoy a Keurig coffee maker provided with pods, cream & sugar. There is a mini fridge to keep anything you may need cold. Our shelves are stocked with coffee mugs, wine glasses & bottle opener, drinking glasses, plates, bowls & silverware in case you want to have a meal in. There’s a coat and luggage rack to put your things and a wall hook with hangers. A pack'n play is also available if needed.

We've traveled all over the world and have stayed in numerous Airbnb's. We know how it feels to arrive after a long day of travel to our destination. We provide snacks, a carafe of filtered water, and a complimentary cold beer / sparkling water in the fridge for each of our guests. There's also a basket with plenty of tourist information and the WNC Best of Lists, so you don't need to make a trip to the visitor center.

Acesso dos hóspedes
Guests will be given an access code and instructions on how to enter the guest suite. Parking and entrance is on the same level as home. There is a parking space in front of the guest suite and additional parking on the street.

Outras coisas a ter em conta
We live in the the home attached to the guest suite by one common wall. Extra sound insulation was added during our recent remodel to make sure guests have peace and quiet. We also have a little dog that is friendly, but very proud to guard our house. He may bark through the windows if they see guests outside. We never let him in the guest suite to protect others in case of allergies.

Our home is on a hill and the driveway leading to the parking space is steep. The space is on a slight incline and we recommend using your emergency break to park.

We live in the Appalachian mountains and there is wildlife in the surrounding area. There is a rare chance of black bear sightings on our property. They are docile, keep to themselves, and beautiful to see if you are lucky.

Localização

Asheville, Carolina do Norte, Estados Unidos

Biltmore Village is the best location to be on a visit to Asheville! The Biltmore Estate is a must-see on a visit to Asheville. Besides being the largest, privately owned house in the U.S. and built by the Vanderbilt family, there are so many things to do and see on the property besides touring the amazing home. The colorful gardens, Conservatory, serene Bass Pond Waterfall, walking paths along the French Broad River, winery and kids petting zoo are just some of the things that you can plan. Seeing the 7,000 acre grounds can take days to cover. The convenience of our home being a 1/2 mile from the Biltmore Estate entrance makes for a seamless visit.

Biltmore Village has so many wonderful restaurants and shops you can WALK to. One of our favorite spots is Well Bred Bakery - consistently receives #1 bakery in Asheville each year...and guests can walk five minutes to it! Opposite side of the street is Corner Kitchen with fresh farm to table meals. At the bottom of our hill is Fig Bistro - recommended by everyone for an intimate dining experience. Rezaz - our favorite mediterranean restaurant. Other great Biltmore Village restaurants that are all within walking distance: Red Stag Grill, Village Wayside, The Cantina, Ruths Chris, Moe's Original BBQ, Rise Above Deli, Zoe's Kitchen, Brueggers Bagels, Ichiban.

Asheville's brewery scene is incredible. There are four breweries in our neighborhood: Catawba Brewing is a three minute walk and friendly vibe, Hillman Beer is one of our favorite breweries, especially for families, with fantastic atmosphere in and outdoors (also serve food), French Brood River Brewery and TreeRock Social is a great Cider House. For other spirits there is Casablanca Bar, Wayside, Pour Taproom and The Wine & Oyster. Plenty of other chain restaurant options nearby, including Starbucks and TGI Fridays.

There are numerous art galleries in Biltmore Village featuring many local artisans work. Bon Vivant Co. is a fun place to check out that has an eclectic mix from different dealers and consignors. New Morning Gallery and Southern Highland Craft Guild are great places with locally and American-made pieces of all materials. Turner & Co. is a spa for true relaxing just a three minute walk away.

For boutique store shoppers there are many to choose from: Palm Village a Lilly Pulitzer Store, Lululemon, Oodles & Maggie, Bette Boutique, Nest Boutique, The Gardener's Cottage, Peace & Nice Boutique, White House Black Market, Porter & Prince, Chico's, Talbots, Monkee's, Williams Sonoma, Tervis and Southern Tide.

For families looking for a play area for their little ones we love walking to the Cathedral of All Souls mini replica playground. It is fenced in and a great place to sit and watch the kids get their wiggles out.

Once again, these are all within WALKING distance. There are so many other amazing restaurants, breweries and shops in other areas of Asheville. Grocery stores and gas stations are all within minutes of the home. All of these recommendations are in our information booklet we provide to you.

“Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life—and travel—leaves marks on you.” – Anthony Bourdain. We LIVE to travel! Heather spent many years working in the airline industry which allowed us to see 40+ countries. The Anthony Bourdain show “No Reservations” sums up our travel style. We tend to book the first night to recover from jet lag and then keep the rest of the trip open. We like to see where our travels want to take us. Seeking out the “undiscovered” places and truly connecting with locals is what we are all about. Some of our favorites: Luang Prabang / Bagan / Zanzibar / Bali / Colombia / Ronda (got engaged) / Samana, Dominican Republic (got married) / Chicago / Isla Holbox (shhhh, keep it a secret). Through many of these travels Airbnb has been a big piece of the puzzle. The two of us met in Aspen, CO. Heather is originally from Chicago and Mark from Virginia Beach. Although Heather loved city life her wanderlust brought her to Aspen for thirteen years. Mark had been living in Washington D.C. doing the daily grind as an architect and had heard about a firm in Aspen that was hiring. He jumped on the chance and never looked back! Aspen was a fantastic place to live and truly enjoy life. It taught us that you can live more simply and have a healthier quality of life. After a long stint out west and with a child on the way we decided it was time to be closer to family. We had a list of 30 towns all over the midwest and eastern U.S. which we either visited or did research on. After visiting Asheville we knew it was our next stop in life. Mark has opened his own office and Heather teaches at a creative arts center while studying interior design. Besides continuing to travel, we hike with our son and two dogs as often as possible and love checking out the awesome breweries and restaurants Asheville has to offer. We've also just begun hosting on Airbnb and really enjoy meeting fellow travelers and hosting them in our guest suite. We hope to inspire others to get out of their comfort zone and check out other places and people on this amazing planet!
