Set in a small peaceful village by the tidal river Kent Estuary. The Cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside and woodlands or just walk a few hundred yards out of the door and you can walk for miles along the beach, the scenery is stunning!

O Espaço

Beautiful traditional cottage With wood burning stoves/fires in the lounge and dining room plus full gas central heating, this cottage is very cosy. It has lots of charm, traditional style range cooker and wooden/stone floors. Has a fully equipped kitchen dishwasher etc. and washing machine in the small utility room. It is ideally situated for country walks in this designated area of outstanding natural beauty. The sea front is only 250 yards away and there is a great Pub The Ship Inn a similar distance.

The small village of Storth occupies a pleasant position on the estuary of the River Kent, and is situated on the border between Lancashire and Cumbria. The name Storth derives from the old Norse word meaning 'a woody place'. In the seventeenth century, Storth was a small hamlet with a few scattered farms in the outlying area. The main industries in the area were sheep farming, fishing and the gathering of cockles and mussels. Storth Sea Bank was built about 1776 along the lower part of the Kent Estuary.

The Kent Estuary is a haven for bird life, green shanks, golden plovers, mergansers and goosanders, oyster catchers and lapwings can all be seen along its shores.

There are some great walks near by - Beetham fairy steps is a lovely walk from the cottage, Arnside Knott with its stunning views of Morecambe bay and the lake district mountains with Arnside Tower Keep behind.

Or you can walk through the grounds of the beautiful Dallam Tower Estate.

With beautiful views all around this designated area of outstanding natural beauty there is much to see and enjoy just walking out of the door you can be in beautiful woodlands or walk along the stunning sands to Arnside and Silverdale.

Fantastic, charming and cosy cottage! Close to Arnside, great for walks, especially up to the Arnside Knott. Also not far from Kendal for a day visit to. The host was brilliant and always got back to us quickly. Cottage was perfect for chilling out with friends and well equipped with anything you need!

Can't fault this place - we had a great time in a lovely location and beautiful house. We had some great days walking. Arnside is a very short drive away and there are great walks right from the door. There is space for a car at the side of the cottage. If you have more than one car, you might have to hunt around a bit for a second parking space, but it didn't cause us a problem (we had two cars). There are a couple of steps down to the (lovely) upstairs bathroom - worth knowing if you are going with older relatives or very young children.

John's cottage is lovely and comfortable for a family up to 6. The location is relaxingly tranquil, yet still relatively close to many main tourist attractions - particularly the likes of Arnside (6 mins by car), Windermere (25 mins by car) and Grasmere (around 50 mins). The cottage was immaculate upon arrival and it offered all the facilities for a very pleasant stay. On other notes: there's a lovely chippy in Arnside as John will recommend. There's also a very handy vehicle repairs shop close by (E & R autos LTD) which we used as our brake lights played up. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone.

Lovely cottage in a very beautiful, quiet and peaceful part of the world. Good place to be in touch with Nature. Lots of good walks in local area, places to visit such as the nature reserve at Leighton Moss, Holker Hall and Lake District not far away. Host provided good local information and was easy to contact.

John was a great host, the house was very comfortable and situated in a lovely quiet village. There are plenty of walks in and around Arnside and it's also a great base for the Lake District. We would recommend this area for a nice relaxing break.

We enjoyed our stay in Sea View. It's cosy and well equipped. The weather is also noticeably better than in the Lakes on the other side of the estuary! We self catered mostly - the local Booth's is an excellent supermarket, and there are very good butchers and farm stalls nearby - but enjoyed several drinks at the Ship in Sandside and the Albion in Arnside. From the Ship, if you are lucky and at the right time of year (we were), you can see the ospreys from Foulshaw Moss patrolling the estuary on the hunt for fish. Recommended.

Both me and my wife have refurbished this cottage whilst enjoying holidays there ourselves with our three children. They’ve grown up now so we have decided to let the cottage out for other holidaymakers I am a builder/gas and electrical engineer and my wife works for the NHS
