Thank you for your review, we appreciate it as we are always looking to provide best available service to our guests. We are sorry about the smell, previous guests violated our house rules stated on Airbnb property page and inside the apartment. Smoking is allowed in the furnished outside area, but clearly not inside. Even though we came to clean and spray it when you informed us, it can be hard to get out because of the wooden interior and we realise that you were bothered by it.
Regarding the tower, even though it is recently renovated using latest technologies, it is still a 257 year old windmill with spirally shaped stairs, which can be seen in many of 79 property photos verified by Airbnb. It is definitely not for everyone given the mobility challenges, but we don't think it can be surprising because of all the information available on the listing page as well as in many of 160 property reviews. It is for the people who want a unique experience in this cultural monument, built in wood and stone. If you want to rent a traditional apartment, there are plenty of them in Hvar.
About the outside construction works, they are allowed in the town of Hvar until 15th of June by city decision. If you inform us, we can contact our neighbours and they will surely minimise the noises or try to work when you are not at home. Nonetheless, the tower is centrally located on the first Hvar's hill, so like most of the places in Hvar, it is not isolated without the potential of the construction works when they are allowed.
As stated in the property directions, the closest way is taking two sets of stairs until you reach our car road, but for the people with heavy luggage, we suggest taking one of two roads around the hill that are 7-8 minutes longer, but without steps, or taking the taxi from the bus station, which is located next to the main square and a few minutes away from the harbour (entrance with personal cars or taxis is not allowed in the main city area).
Hvar is built on many hills and our tower is located on the first one just above the harbour, so the stairs issue will be pretty much everywhere. When Lorenzo is available, we always offer his assistance and transport, but we hope you realise it is our good will, not an obligation.
