Here you will find numerous playgrounds, restaurants and taverns, and you're only a few metres from the 'Heisser Brocken' crystal sauna thermal baths. The town and the surrounding area are very popular with hikers and cyclists. You have many daytrip options thanks to the central location: the Harz Witches Trail, the Brocken thermal baths, Europe's biggest herb park, Bad Herzburg (18 km), Clausthal-Zellerfeld (10 km), Wurmberg gondola lift, Braunlage (18 km), summer toboggan run in Sankt Andreasberg. The region is a great place to visit in winter as well, with multiple cross-country ski trails, ski lifts and sledding slopes.
