Originally built as a fisherman's' cottage in '1896', the accommodation is steeped in history, it's where old meets contemporary in the heart of vibrant Hanover in Brighton!!

The two bedrooms beautifully furnished offers comfortable, contemporary, accommodation for up to a party of 5/6 persons. If you are looking for economy over comfort we can accommodate 6, where you can still relax and spend quality time with friends and family, perfect in summer, close to the hub of the city centre, as well as a 'cosy' perfect retreat in winter curled up in front of the York stone fire place, under the 'calm' of oak beams opened planned space and great for gathering with friends and family and business...

Brighton hotel accommodation can be expensive in peak season or holiday times, especially if you are staying for a short stay or holiday! So choose the airbnb alternative and get a whole house for less than a price of a room.

The accommodation comprises of two double bedrooms, with one spacious bathroom. comfortable double bed, the other with 2 single comfortable beds. Additionally, offering a double sofa bed down stairs that could sleep additional 2 persons comfortably.

If on business and seeking, try out comfortable accommodation with breakfast, The accommodation is really well located for walking into Brighton and provides evening and weekend parking provision. Please ask about guest parking permits.

Please note that the accommodation is set on two floors and may not be suitable inside or outside in the garden for unsupervised younger children.

The accommodation and the kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials including contemporary dinnerware for entertaining, a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer so that you can make the most of having that perfect time spent here in Brighton if eating out or eating in.

Accommodation has a fire alarm on both floors, and a carbon monoxide alarm for your safety.

The accommodation is offered on the basis that food provided may contain nuts, and guests book at their own risk, as we cannot be held responsible for any food intolerance. It is the responsibility of the guests for consuming, touching or checking for any nut products provided or otherwise while staying at the accommodation.

Accommodation will be provided with a complimentary 'welcome' breakfast hamper and a 'self serve' selection of breakfast options,'typically' consisting of of cereals, eggs, bread, spreads, milk, jams, fruit juices, yogurts and selection of seasonal fruit, tea and coffee to get your day off to a good start.... Should you prefer an alternative, please just ask?

If arriving late and you require additional food to be shopped or to be catered for with a hot meal, please do not hesitate to request this service.

If arriving late, the lock box code will be provided when arriving at the accommodation and will be texted directly to you with instructions to access the key to the accommodation. This is for your safety.

The accommodation is set back close to the beach and the Brighton Pier, Brighton Pavilion and to the heart of the buzzing city centre, the Lanes, and the popular North Laines - great for shopping, nightlife, great for attending gigs and concerts. Brigthon steeped in history and packed full of restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars, cinemas, high street and bespoke shops is not to be missed. Now is a Great time to plan to spend time at the ice skate rink in the beautiful Royal pavilion gardens, if only to have lunch and soak up the atmosphere of this wonderful attraction and the beautiful sunshine of Brighton. recommended !

When on foot you are virtually minutes away from the historic Royal Pavilion, the famous Brighton North Laines; the fabulous Brighton Eye, The Dome; (Where AbbA famously won the Euro-vision Song Contest.) The Theatre Royal, and many other concert venues and museums; shops, restaurants, beautiful Queens park with its lake, cafe and wild life, (recommended) or the park on the Level that hosts a cafe, skate park, and bank holiday events including farmer's markets, antique fairs, and fun fairs Seasonal, winter ice skating, not to be missed in the grounds in front of the romantic Royal Pavilion especially wonderful at Christmas.

During the festive season from late November, Thanksgiving onward the accommodation will be 'seasonally' decorated, finished with a beautifully decorated tree for Christmas completely ready for the holiday season.

The accommodation offers the luxury facility of street parking right outside the accommodation when available, or in close by adjacent streets. Guest permits for this facility can be bought for a nominal price. Please ask. However, the on street parking is free from 8pm in the evnings to 9am until the next morning so why not take advantage of this facility of parking.

There is however, 'free' on street parking five minutes walk away for weekend guests booking the accommodation, Friday evening through to Monday morning until 11am, with no restrictions. More information on enquiry or booking the accommodation.

Interesting 'themed' pubs with live music from local bands, and restaurants are located nearby on every corner of Hanover approximately a minute walk from the house. Buses run conveniently every few minutes to any centrally destination including Hove actually!

Hanover has it owns unique 'quintessential' seaside charm and your visit to Brighton will definitely start here. It is on a hill, but the hill if on foot can be avoided. Information provided on enquiry or booking the accommodation.

The pub, the Dover Castle at the end of the road, and other local pubs on Southover Street, such as the Geese and the Grays also provide frequent live music and open mikes nights especial at the weekends. Also many of the local pubs on Southover Street adjacently close to the accommodation serve delicious Sunday lunches and other interesting menus. You don't even have to venture into Brighton to have a good time!

Turn right out of the house onto Southover Street and turn right again across the road and a really useful inexpensive, convenient, local shop can be found recommended for its original organic produce and relative low prices!! No need to waste time going to supermarkets when only visiting for a short time...

There are 'two' local public swimming pools, within five to ten minutes walk of the accommodation plus concrete tennis courts close by in beautiful Victorian Queen's park with its beautiful clock tow and arched entrance - The secluded park itself offers a wonderful peaceful setting with a large pond and cafe close to the waters edge, good for a lazy afternoon or a picnic and great for children, perfect for watching wildlife that live there- recommended, which only the locals know of, (we are always amazed how lovely it is) and a world away from the famous busy tourist Brighton beach, but which again is only five minutes leisurely walk away if you want a complete quick change of scene down to the beach for a dip in the sea or a walk on the pier.

'Brighton Level' is also just on the doorstep. The vibrant park has excellent children’s adventure area, skate park, lovely cyclist’s cafe and Vegan cafe. Always a relaxing place to sit in the sun and watch the diverse people of Brighton in the summer months.

Brighton with its wonderful history and diversity, culture, and distinctive cosmopolitan feel, the city has something to simply offer everyone. Come see for yourself, you certainly won't be bored whatever the weather. There is plenty to do and see. Visitors always want to return again and again, and never want to leave

Alternatively, spend a day at the races - the accommodation conveniently close by to Brighton race course, with it panoramic views of the coast.
If considering a day at the races, please check dates and time of meetings to avoid disappointment. Ladies day is always fun!

Ten minutes from Brighton station, you can travel to London by train and be in the London within one hour by high speed rail. Alternatively, reach other Sussex coast seaside destinations also easy to access by train.

Should you have any 'additional' guest requests, we could facilitate, including flowers for an anniversary; delivery of your favourite daily newspaper; providing chocolates or a bottle of wine for that extra special celebration - please do not hesitate to ask.


Our mission and mission statement is to ensure that you have an exceptional ‘memorable’ time spent here in Brighton, and enjoy the accommodation and what is has to offer so hopefully you'll make a return visit or recommend our hospitality to others to enjoy.

The pretty patio style garden offered with 'outside living' on two tiers, with palms and seating areas unique to Hanover with its quirky design is definitely not suitable on the 'upper tier' for 'unsupervised' toddler age children due to the nature of the natural terrain.

The accommodation however, is strictly offered only on condition of a non smoking basis, and all we ask is that the accommodation should be vacated and left given back in the condition found 'courteously' for the next visitors to also enjoy.

The accommodation is popular, so your attention to leaving the accommodation as found is paramount and assists us greatly to give guests the best experience and the opportunity to check in early, when available.

Please note that the accommodation and the patio garden is set on two floors and may not be suitable for younger unsupervised children - young children should be supervised at all times.

On enquiry and subject to booking the accommodation, please can all guests advise of children's ages staying to discuss any child proofing and potential hazards. The accommodation may not be suitable for children under three years old.

Guests have access to the whole house and the patio garden, and are welcome to use all facilities.

Evening free on street parking available close to the accommodation. Free weekend parking five minutes walk from the house. Please also ask about guest on street, all day, parking permits which are available for a nominal price.

It is the responsibility of the main guest booking the accommodation to provide and facilitate to pass on all house rules and additional information to their fellow guests booked to stay at the accommodating. Key will be provided only to the main guest booking the accommodation.

Keys will only be provided to the guest making the reservation.

Reservations looking to secure accommodation for six people will be at the discretion of the owners.

We have a small library of books on local history which guests are welcome to peruse.

Dinner table can be extended to seat six comfortably .

Younger children must be supervised at all times on the stairs, living room fire and in the patio garden.

If there is anything we have forgotten, please don't hesitate to say so we have the opportunity to put it right.

On arrival provided is our complimentary 'welcome hamper' with essentials incle uding milk, tea, coffee, sugar and basic continental breakfast for your convenience.

On late arrival, the code to the lock box to access the key to the accommodation will be only provided on arrival to the accommodation for the safty of the accommodation and the guests.

On departing from the accommodation please place all used towels in readiness for washing in the washing machine and place all rubbish/recycle/trash in the relative bins outside.

We also ask that you kindly leave the accommodation clean, tidy and as found in readiness for future guests. Failure to do so may result in further charges being applied to your account. Cleaning charge is for linen refresh and for freshening up the accommodation.

Strictly no parties allowed at the accommodation.

Consideration for the neighbours and the neighbouring properties at all times of the day.

Please arrival and depart quietly from the accommodation, as neighbours maybe sleeping.

Everything is built on 'trust', in the Airbnb community so everybody is happy and everybody is treated with respect. Disregard of these rules lets the Airbnb community completely down.

If the property is not left as found and in clean reasonable order, then a £50 surcharge will be deducted from the deposit which includes the oven.

All breakages or damaged must be reported and will be deducted from your deposit, failure to do so will deprive the next guest of the accommodation facilitates and the best experience.

Little tip about parking in Brighton's narrow streets is to go in partially forward and then out of the space then reverse back into the space, this process will make parking far easier in tight spaces and it works!

As your hosts we pride ourselves on the accommodation we strive to provide and deliver, and it would not be in our interests to be rude to any guest, or cancel bookings other than in an 'unlikely' emergency situation or provide substandard, accommodation, otherwise we would not open the accommodation out to guests for their enjoyment. Our reputation hopefully goes before us..

If, in the unlikely event that we don't meet your expectation, please kindly let us know, so that we may have the opportunity to put things right for you while you are staying at the accommodation, not afterwards in the reviews.

It would not be in our interest to provide anything other than a positive experience, and any 'guest' pointing out 'petty' situations in reviews, 'like there was no shampoo', or something similar, who have not asked during their stay for this to be put right, then It was be disingenuous to the host to post this.

If shampoo is important, we suggest that you ensure you bring your own for your own hair type, or your own hairdryer as the shampoo we provide is only that of complimentary, and at the hosts discretion, and is provided for guest convenience, when shampoo when not available.

Brighton is a naturally hilly terrain, and Hanover is situated on the hill and the accommodation on the flat. However, when on foot, the hill can be avoided, which is explained in the welcome information to all our guests, prior to arrival. However some of you love a hilly walk and love the challenge! Let us know which you are.


Hanover, worth the hill, has its own unique 'vibrant' village atmosphere. There are at least 6 inexpensive, traditional English pubs and restaurants only a couple of minutes walk from the accommodation, which include The Geese, The Dover Castle; the 'Grays', the St Charles Napier where you can sample a traditional English Sunday Lunch/roasts and other weekday exciting menus, real ales and beers from local breweries and live music !!

Also remember to check out the newly refurbished Dover Castle pub right at the end of the street '' which features weekend 'live' entertainment of local Brighton bands right at the end of the street!

Additionally, Hanover caters numerous international style take-a-ways including Italian, Chinese, English fish and chips, Indian all within a convenient 5 minute walking distance from the accommodation.
Alternatively, phone and order, telephone numbers can be found in the welcome guide, and they will be delivered right to the door within minutes if you don't fancy venturing out...

Hanover has plenty to offer and experience the welcoming Hanover/Brighton night vibe with its many restaurants and pubs.

Please remember, however, to be mindful of your neighbours, when arriving at all hours of the day, and please strictly no smoking outside the accommodation as respect to your neighbours and we thank you for your attention to this.

Currently there is some loft building work in the neighbourhood, which may impact on your stay during the week days. However the work should be completed the second first week in March 2017 - should you require further information, if you are thinking about booking this space, please do not hesitate to ask so I can provide a futher update.

Hi, I am Joanna, my husband Chris and I have lived in Brighton for over 30 years. It's a wonderful place to live, visit and explore. Hospitality is our passions, and we personally love to look after our guests and try to hopefully make them feel welcomed and comfortable during their stay with us, Signposting guests in the right directions to their destinations while here in Brighton. We have hosted many, many visitors to Brighton My responsibilities are to all those who I look after - I am a Carer to my partner, Chris and my Mother and my two children and of course you, our special guests. My passions are interior design, hospitality, good food, nutrition, fine dining, food cultivation and our three cats. Chris' passion is Arsenal Football club and listening to music especially Brighton groups and new talent. I am always on the look out for inexpensive creative ideas and inspirations. Chris is always on the lookout for discovering the next new music talent. Previously, we have welcomed to our home many overseas students, at least over a hundred from all over the world, who have provided us, in return, with a wealth of knowledge regarding their countries and cultures - a very rewarding experience. In appreciation, we have now extended and opened up our holiday accommodation and distinct flavour of hospitality to all who wish to visit Brighton. Our first student 'Al', from Barcelona, twenty five years ago, wherever you are, was our first guest at the cottage. Please get in touch if you are reading this! We only live five minutes drive from the accommodation so can respond quickly to any additional requirements our visitors may have. I love changing the accommodation around, offering it slightly differently on each booking. The reason I love doing this is that we can offer a personal, inexpensive, luxury accommodation experience. Better hopefully than some hotels! When you have somebody taking the time to phone you from as far away as Spain, thanking you personally for looking after their beloved family member when they were ill, away from home, while in another country, and under your care, the feeling is absolutely wonderful and you know you did your job well when a family member takes the time to pick up the phone to a total stranger in a foreign language. We have our visitors book full of many accolades and memories given our hospitality from people all over the world, spanning many years, which we are very, very, proud of and hope to reconnect with as some point in time, as we have with many who have kept in touch. Also many of the local pubs on Southover Street serve Sunday lunches and other menus. Takeaways information can be found in the ‘welcome folder’. A frequent bus service also runs on Southover Street. The nearest Pharmacy can be found on Elm Grove. Supermarkets Morrisons on St James’ street going towards the seafront or Aldi, Sainsburys, Coop on London Road. We can be contactable by telephone found in the welcome folder should it be necessary. My life moto is be good to the people on their way up as you might meet them on your way down... On enquiry and subject to booking the accommodation, please can all guests advise of any children's ages staying to discuss any child proofing.
Check in time is generally from after 3.00pm onward guests will usually be greeted at the property at the pre-arranged time.

Please can all guests kindly advise of their approximate time of arrival, for us to meet you at the accommodation to provide further essential information you may need. Lockbox available for late check in.

If arriving early, there is a lovely pub at the end of the road which serves refreshments and a place to wait.

If you are early, there is a nice family pub at the end of the street, the Dover Castle that serves soft drinks, teas, coffee/alcoholic drinks etc, where you can wait conveniently to check in.

Should you require an early check in if for example your flight arrives in the morning, guests can also book and pay for this arrangement, if the day previous, however, is not booked out. Please check with us if you need this arrangement and we will facilitate your request where possible.

Dear Guests,

Thank you for your reservation and for choosing our Bijoux Cottage/Brighton Beach Hut, and welcome you to Brighton. The accommodation will be ready from 3pm onward. Please indicate prior to arrival should you require a parking space close to the accommodation, and will try to accommodate a space for you if possible.

All the accommodation information and all safety instructions are contained in the ‘welcome folder’ which can be found in the property. We kindly ask that you fill out our guest information on your arrival.

We politely ask that you vacate the house by 11.00am on your day of departure, unless otherwise arranged.

As already advised, we take the safety of our guest’s paramount, however the living room fire, the patio garden and the stairs are not child friendly and parental supervision is essential.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your party an enjoyable stay in Brighton and hope the accommodation meets all expectations.

A local inexpensive ‘convenient’ corner shop is situated at the end of the Road. Turn right out of the house to the end onto Southover Street and turn right again and the shop is just across the road. The pub/bar, the Dover Castle, at the end of the road, and other local pubs on Southover Street also provides live music and open mikes nights frequently, especially at the weekends. Also many of the local pubs on Southover Street serve Sunday and weekday lunches and other menus. Takeaways information can be found in the ‘welcome folder’. A frequent bus service, 37B also runs on Southover Street. The nearest Pharmacy can be found on Elm Grove. Supermarket Morrisons can be found on St James’ Street, going towards the seafront, or Aldi, Sainsburys and the Coop on London Road.
