We will cook for you a fantastic breakfast. If you are interested in Yoga then you can get a free yoga class in the morning if Olga is not traveling with her lectures about Healing Architecture.
Outras coisas a ter em conta
Nature around Charles Town is totally beautiful!
I would recommend for several local restaurants in Town:
1. Alfredo's Mediterranean Cafe - free very tasty appetizer, authentic Mediterranean dining and very lively atmosphere - walking distance.
2. La Meza Luna - authentic Italian cuisine - 5 min. driving
In Shepherdstown - 25 min drive - to discover little boutiques and restaurants: check on-line about those (they are great too):
1. Restaurant Cazu - sushi and Thai dishes
2. Press Room - more upscale for special occasions
3. Blue Moon Cafe - great sitting outside next to the stream of water, very relaxed atmosphere.
4. Domestic - contemporary interior and great food.
My favorite boutique in Shepherdstown is THE GOOD SHOP! (Open till 5 pm) - try it Saturday. :)
There is a bicycle trail that runs along the Potomac. The C&O canal trail. It is not an asphalt road so not suitable for race bikes but all other bikes are fine. A good location to get onto the trail in Shepherdstown. On the Maryland side of the river across from Shepherdstown is a parking area where you have easy access to the trail. you could bike all the way to Harpers Ferry and back but count on 3-4 hours for that. In case it rains to much for doing outdoor activities, you can visit Shepherdstown, a quaint little town with restaurants and stores. O'Hurleys general store is definitely worth a visit. Nearby is the Antietam Battlefield Park with a visitors center. you can drive around the battlefield by car. If you go there you will pass through Sharpsburg where you can stop at Nutters Ice Cream and sample probably the cheapest ice cream you ever bought. You can visit the Racetrack and Casino in Charles Town and near by in Hillsboro (Loudoun County) are a few wineries with tasting rooms. Breaux vineyards is a very large vineyard. Hillsboro vineyard has a smaller intimate tasting room. Just outside Charles Town is the Bloomery plantation distillery, where you can sample some local "moonshine".
Best wishes! Olga
We appreciate our guests to be respectful to the house rules and to the environment.
Born in St. Petersburg, Russia. I always wanted to see the world and have international friends. This desire led me to the US. I married a Dutchman and we share our love to nature, traveling and meeting new people. We traveled many times to India, Mexico, and Canada, and all over Europe. Over all I am attracted to the ancient civilizations and their architecture. I graduated from the Architectural University of St. Petersburg, Russia, and I am fascinated by old architecture, and design in general. My second degree is in interior design. I also lecture internationally with yoga centers on the topic of "Vaastu Shastra - Creating Healing Space at Home". I study Indian philosophy of Advaita | Vedanta.
Both Henk and I like old houses. We purchased this 1897 French Provincial style house, which has a real romantic charm. It has even a wooden elevator!
I like practicing yoga and Henk likes kayaking. We have a small Zen garden for contemplation and meditation. The scenic Shenandoah and Potomac rivers are nearby, with our canoe or kayak you can gently float the rivers for those who like being on the water. We are located within a short beautiful drive to several vineyards in Loudoun County such as Breaux vineyard and our favourite Hillsboro vineyard. Henk loves his garden where he spends time planting new varieties of roses and unique species of trees. Our two acres in the heart of the historic Charles Town are true romantic hideaway. We even have “Living” Water Garden table.
We are both interested in art and enjoy watching documentaries on travel, foreign and ancient cultures. Our favorite cuisine is Thai.
