Come stay in our cozy mother-in-law apartment while visiting Seattle. The apartment features a private entrance, bedroom with a queen bed, kitchen and bathroom. The apartment is on the main floor of our big farmhouse/craftsman style house that was built in 1910. The kitchen is stocked with breakfast foods, including organic fruit, locally baked bread, cereals, juice, milk, coffee, teas and, best of all, fresh eggs from our own flock of chickens. We have been hosting guests for many, many years, and while many of our guests come to see family, Ballard is a wonderful enclave in Seattle just waiting to be explored. We are located in a quiet residential neighborhood, but great food, bakeries and of course coffee shops are all within walking distance. We are blocks away from several different bus lines, so getting downtown couldn't be easier. If you have rented a car, there is off-street parking for you in our extra-long driveway. After a long day of visiting friends and family, or seeing the sights, feel free to come sit and relax in our nearly 1/2 acre yard. Guests are welcome to pick veggies and herbs in the garden, or see if any raspberries or blueberries are ripe. There are apple, cherry and pear trees as well, so come enjoy! Consider Browns House Guest Apartment your home-away-from home.
(Note: normally, there is a three night minimum, but if I only have two nights in a row available and you would like to book them, just send me a message and we can book you that way.)

The small apartment is at the back corner of our house on the main floor, but it is very private. Should you need anything, however, you can always call, text or knock on my door and ask. I'm happy to help with restaurant recommendations, directions, whatever it is you might need. My cell phone is always on!
There is no smoking in the room, but guests may smoke in the yard.
And while it's not a 'rule', I thought I would put in a word here about the pets I own. I have cats, but they have never, ever been allowed in the apartment. I clean the apartment with a very expensive hepa-filtered vacuum. I have had guests stay who have cat allergies and they were fine.
Raised here in Seattle, I'm definitely a Pacific Northwest girl! I love getting out to hike in the mountains, snow ski, raft, anything that gets me out enjoying all that Washington (and beyond) has to offer. My husband and I both like to garden, especially vegetable gardening. We have 3 kids - 2 in college - and taking care of the yard is a family affair. I like to cook and bake, especially pies. Pie baking is nearly a religion in this household. I live in a great neighborhood and enjoy visiting with my neighbors, especially on weekends, when we chat over coffee on somebody's porch. And being a true Seattleite, I love good coffee! I make my own every morning, but then usually find an excuse to go to the best coffee shop in the world (really!) for a cappuccino.
