I like to provide you with general information and make sure you have everything you need when you settle in. After that its up to you to come and enjoy all the amazing Hudson River valley
Poughkeepsie, and the greater Hudson Valley area is a perfect place to getaway for a long weekend. 'The Valley' is known for spectacular views, beautiful apple orchards, and the Shawangunk mountain range. Our studio is centrally located between Marist and Vassar Colleges, walking distance to Vassar Hospital, and a few minute drive to The Walkway Over the Hudson. The Walkway which is the tallest, and longest pedestrian bridge in the country, towers over the scenic Hudson River and Mid-Hudson Bridge. This combination creates a breathtaking backdrop that changes with every season.
We have also been hard at work finishing the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, a 26 mile paved path that connects to the Walkway on both sides. The Rail Trail winds through the wooded Hudson Valley and can take you from Hopewell to New Paltz.
Of great importance...food! The Culinary Institute of America, nestled on a beautiful campus just 10 minutes from the apartment, ensures good eats every night of the week! Due to the location many of the restaurants in Poughkeepsie feature a kitchen full of culinary grads. (We have a couple recommendations to point you in the right direction).
Other historic attractions in the area include Locust Groove (Samuel B. Morris's Home), The Children's Museum, and (within 15 min car ride) the Franklin D. Roosevelt Estate, Vanderbilt Mansion, Mills Mansion, and Eleanor Roosevelt's hide away, Val-kill.
Not into history? Check out The Millhouse or Blue Collar Breweries for a localy brewed cold one, Tuttletown Distillery, Dutchess County Fairgrounds, and MANY vineyards that are home to some of New York's best wines! Come check it out, its truly a great place to stay!
It is easiest to get around town by car. Cabs are only a phone call away, and if your out late call safe ride. (a free cab ride home from the bars).
