ABOUT VILLAGE HUMAC
A unique example of well preserved rural architecture, formerly a pastoral village, Humac originated in the 17th century. At the height of 350 m above sea level, you have a magnificent panoramic view of all the surrounding places, coves, the island of Brač and Makarska’s coast. The charm of this village lies in its harmonious stone houses, courtyards, balconies, narrow streets and nature which all give an inspiring sight.

Humac is a very old village where man has been living for centuries. There are many simple houses made of stone in its surroundings called trim, built without binder in a way that they become narrower towards the top. Many of them have their original foundations from early Stone Age. Inhabitants of Humac have been occupied with cattle and wine growing for thousands years, and in around 1950 they started growing lavender. In the last few centuries people didn't live in Humac, but spent time in Humac during major agrarian works.

Beautiful location with great view. Very relaxing and with quiet family run restaurant nearby. Jelsa with shops and restaurants and port 10 minutes drive. Also many choices of beaches similar distance - some sand mostly pebbles so water amazingly clear. We were met at the property and had everything explained. Jacob told us the history of the village of Humac which is definitely .recommended

This is a perfect place to relax in between visiting larger towns. We couldn't have imagined a more quiet respite. Our stay was made better by an amazing thunderstorm - what a treat! The home was comfortable, clean and had all the amenities we needed. We would highly recommend it. Mario and Jakov were great hosts. Definitely eat at the local restaurant if it's open. The food was perfect and it has a great atmosphere.

A one of a kind experience. Beautiful views and an extremely relaxing environment. Loved the outdoor shower and hammock. The restaurant next door is five star. The only negatives were no air conditioning as it was very hot the first night and be ready to deal with a few critters.

Thank you so much to Mario and his brother for everything!!! We actually changed the course of our vacation in order to stay at this place because it looked so unique, and it was SO worth it. We did the typical Dalmatian coast experience of beautiful port towns, boats, and swimming in the gorgeous ocean on other days, and this place far up on the top of the island was a PERFECT compliment. This is a side of Croatia many people don't get to experience. It is easy to have the coast and boat experience. It is difficult to feel so connected to the farming and land history of the Adriatic islands. Mario's place, his family, the ruins that are right there, the ancient cave there, the restaurant there making everything the way they have for hundreds of years, the lilac fields and stone walls, the grapevines and fig trees and olive trees, the sounds of the cicadas while napping in the hammocks... Humac gives visitors that rich, meaningful connection to the history of the land. Also, Mario was fantastic at responding with information and advice, his brother helped set up dinner and the cave and distillery and ruins tour, they checked the bikes and gave us info on where to bike, and arranged our ride to the ferry. AND they are rich with wonderful information, so any time you spend with them you learn incredible things about what is around you. Oh, and everything smells incredible, whether it's the incredible food at the restaurant nearby or all the lavender in the house (which is gorgeous, and cool inside because of the thick stone walls). We couldn't have had a more perfect experience!!!
