This was our first bad experience with an Airbnb guest. Patrict had booked our unit for 6 guests for 4 days during which time he was attending a wedding. The 1st night Patrict arrived there were only 2 people? Upon check in Patrick expressed his complete satisfaction with the accommodations when he said "this is perfect & will work out great for our guests". This is the normal feedback we recive from our guests & what we are accustomed to hearing. Suddenly, the next morning he walked into the main part of the Inn which we run saying that he was leaving & handed me a note? I asked why & he said that the Apt/Suite was not clean? Astounded, both my wife & I asked him to show us. We went into the Apt. & there was no dust, none. Unable to produce any evidence, he then pointed to an antique doll carriage whose cover was slightly faded. I rubbed it proving that there was no dust. He pointed out some stainless steel screws in the shower & said they were rusty. Not true, Stainless does not rust He then tried to claim that the sheets & pillowcases were old? Once again not true. He then went on to point out a slightly loose dresser handle? At that point I had to intercede, & inform him that any of his complaints were a "strech at best" & that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the unit. He was clearly trying to scam us. Now keep in mind that the Apt is part of an upscale Inn with a full time housekeeper & handy person. Had there been anything wrong, which there wasn't, corrective measures could have taken place. He then left? My sense is that he had booked the unit for 6 people & that the others had decided to stay somewhere else, possibly for free, since they had relatives in the area? We never saw any of the other people? In an effort to get a refund, he then thought that he could file a false claim in an effort to get some of his money back. This is so dishonest on so many levels. During the entire process he had broken out in a cold sweat , knowing full well the level of dishonesty to which he had descended. To top it all off, he never cancelled his reservation with Airbnb causing us to be unable to relist the unit since his resevation was ongoing. My recommendation to anyone hosting on Airbnb, or otherwise, to never, ever accept Patrict as a guest. He was completely dishonest & fraudulent in attempting to scam us. Nobody needs this type of trouble. There are plenty of great people out there. We have a great property with a 100% approval rate as you can see by the overwhelmingly glowing reviews.
