If you want a large home, in a little town with much history and owners very proud of their history, this is the place for you. The town itself had only one very unique general store with a great owner. It was a stone’s throw from one of the best places to view glow worms in the …
The house is very clean, spacious and sunny and beds comfortable but the water pressure in the showers is very low The village is very quiet with no lighting so it is great for getting a good nights sleep. This is the place to come to get away from everything but don't expect mu…

hi sally, thanks for you review, we appreciate constructive feedback. yes, the water pressure is low, however it is possible to have a reasonably nice showers in one of the two showers in the house. there is also a lovely deep bath and, plenty of hot water. As I recall the wood basket in the lounge was full of wood, ready for you. it is not our policy to bring more wood in than the basket allows, as this would mean either putting wood on the hearth and extremely close to the source of heat, or, putting wood on the carpet. Neither of these options are practical. I am not sure where a person would expect to find wood, but in a wood shed. Our particular woodshed is about 15 meters from the back door of the house. Perhaps we could look at bringing a selection of wood closer to the front in future. The TV works. My daughter and her partner stayed in the house a few days prior to your arrival and watched TV with their kids. Mike actually said "Max says it does work and we wouldn't know how to get it going as we hate TV". Mike and I would have been of no use at all, as neither of us have owned a TV since before analogue was fazed out. I was dealing with 2 small children while cooking dinner as it was 6pm so was obviously not as sympathetic as I could have been. I have since talked to my daughter who says you have to transfer an auxiliary plug from the back, if the dvd player has been used. Perhaps I could have given her a call after I had settled the children, she doesn't live locally. I will get the instructions written down and added to the guest information. There is a small transistor radio in one of the drawers in the main bedroom. We are sorry that you felt we didn't have a caring attitude. We do care that our guests enjoy their stay, and a good deal of preparation goes in to making sure this happens. We feel that our lodge is extremely good value for money, we provide a clean, comfortable and relaxing place to stay. Not just a motel room, but we provide a fully operational house, with two forms of heating, heat pump and fireplace, including a copious amount of firewood, a variety of entertainment options, including TV, DVD, VHS, numerous games and a veritable library of books. We always like to greet our guests, are happy to provide local information, enjoy conversing with guests that want to engage in conversation and are usually on hand for emergencies. We generally find our guests to be self sufficient and appreciative of having their own space.

I have lived in Kakahi for 5 years. After meeting the lovely Mike, I left my corporate Auckland job, sold my house in the hills and embraced a life of peace and quiet in the beautiful countryside. I love it! I spend my time in my large gardens, making improvements to Mike's once …
