Hi Beccy. I am glad that you had a good stay. I must just point out a couple of things to you though.
The local shop/post office is a five minute walk away or less than 3 minutes by car It is also a newsagents/post office and you can take out money instead of searching for an ATM. The local pub is temporarily closed awaiting reopening but there is a great pub, The Two Sawyers which is a 5/6 minute drive away and has a good restaurant. Also 4 minutes drive away is the brilliant well stocked farm shop with terrific fruit and farm grown vegetables, meat, cheeses et etc. I think that maybe you missed all of this because you came down by train and shared your friends’ car. There is also a lovely tea shop 5 minutes away in
On the subject of my studio, I have never advertised The Guesthouse as having a living area because it has always been advertised as 3 self contained en suite rooms with their own entrances, never as a (Website hidden by Airbnb) was after a bad accident, when I was not able to walk or work that the idea of letting out my own personal space as a communal space for three sets of friends or a family came up. I do not have it available all the time to let out as I have clients for photography so cannot offer it as a standard. However, I try to book my appointments to avoid the studio being unavailable to Guesthouse guests if they would like to book it..
I HAVE NEVER CHARGED A FEE FOR ALLOWING GUESTS TO USE MY STUDIO AS A COMMUNAL SPACE. However, each changeover from photography working space to a communal space and again in reverse has to have 2 people to move out and store all the light stands, lights, backgrounds, equipment, framed images etc to allow the space to be set up with sofa, table, chairs etc that are needed for the guests and I have to pay someone £20 before and again after use to do this. I do not make money on doing that at all.
With a brand new roof the studio is warm and dry. I am sorry that there was a bit of dripping water but the truth is that we had just had a monsoon like day and night before with inches of rain in a very short space of time, giving us a soaking for the first time in weeks. It was unfortunate that it happened just before you arrived. As you know, a builder came to fix that the next morning so I apologise for the weather.
