Northcourt is a Grade II-listed Jacobean manor house on the edge of the picturesque village of Shorwell on the Isle of Wight. The ‘north wing’ of the manor provides accommodation for up to 20 people (in 9 bedrooms with 8 bathrooms).
The property is conveniently situated in rural south-west Wight, close to beaches with easy access to many of the Islands attractions and wonderful walking up on the Downs. Furnished in a traditional style with modern conveniences, the ‘north wing’ of the manor provides accommodation for up to 20 people (in 9 bedrooms with 8 bathrooms), with grand, often regal rooms on the ground and first floor, with further quality accommodation on the second floor. The house benefits from a new large kitchen, external dining terrace, and 32 foot function room with grand piano as formal dining room seating 50+.
For special celebratory occasions, the adjoining west wing can also be rented, along with five further bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms in adjoined or separate parts of the manor providing a total of 21 bedrooms with 20 bathrooms comfortably accommodating 40+ people.

The house and kitchens are perfect for celebratory dinner parties and we can pass on details of local caterers and their teams to entertain you. We will happily recommend a variety of local activities and attractions to interest all manner of guests making your stay on the Island even more enjoyable. We are able to offer discounted ferry travel booked through our trade account on crossings from Southampton, Portsmouth or Yarmouth.
We can help organise deliveries of bread and pastries, meat, fish, fruit and vegetables all fresh from local growers/retailers as well as daily newspapers from our village shop.
We work with a local spa company who can offer on site treatments.
Hot tubs can be hired from a local supplier.
The Crown Inn located within 5 minutes walk through the garden is a welcome distraction for those wanting to have a night off cooking, or fancy a pint of local Goddards ale.
The property includes a grand piano, table tennis tables, snooker table, and a number of TV’s, DVD players, and docking stations with CD players/DAB radio. A full size snooker table and grass tennis court may be available for use with prior permission. High speed fibre broadband is available via wi-fi in large parts of the house.
The 32 foot function room can be used as a formal dining room to seat 50+; and/or as games room with table tennis; and/or as music room with grand piano for entertaining and dances.
Linen is provided throughout the property, with fresh bed sheets, bath towels and hand towels. The fires are pre-laid with paper, kindling and logs, with a complimentary basket of logs provided for guests (mid October – mid-May).
Our new biomass boiler provides central heating throughout making the house wonderfully cosy.
Guests may be staying in the adjoining west and/ or east wing so we ask guests to act respectfully.
No smoking. Up to two dogs only in Little Northcourt (the west wing).
Arrival from 4pm, departure 10am with some flexibility depending on time of the year. Late departure available on weekend booking (Sunday departure).
Minimum 2 night stay over weekend (from Friday). Minimum 4 night stay or equivalent cost thereof for mid-week stays (from Monday).
