Swellendam is about two and a half hours drive from Cape Town on the N2, or two and a quarter on the N1, which is a very beautiful journey. We are surrounded by three national parks - Bontebok National Park, (you can drive through and see many species, including the endangered
Bontebok and Cape Mountain Zebra) Marloth Mountain Reserve, and De Hoop Nature reserve. Superb
beaches and the most southern point of Africa. In Swellendam itself there is the Drostdy Museum and Old Gaol complex, and some excellent restaurants. The nine-hole golf course is two minutes walk from the cottage, as is the 'world famous' Faerie Sanctuary! Nearby we have quad
biking, hot springs, horse riding, a zip wire slide, canoeing,
fishing, beautiful lakes and scenic walks, the Tradouw pass, and many superb wine farms. We can arrange exclusive tours of all of these and a special guide to the more interesting & experimental wine farms.
