Our self built house is light, airy and open plan, with a feature staircase built around a 200 yr old ships mast. Semi rural, 2 miles from sea. Country buses to Whitstable, Canterbury and Faversham. Fabulous views and walks over hills, fields, and coast. Day trips to London and France.
Downstairs is an open plan kitchen/ dining/ sitting room/ garden room with lots of oak beams and full length windows. Also a cloakroom and toilet. Upstairs is a large master bedroom with en suite, a guest bathroom, a 2nd double room, and a children's room with twin or bunk beds. Outside there is a large parking area, and a garden with lawn, flowers and veg. Our house is all (solar) electric, no gas, with underfloor heating downstairs and a log burner in the main room. (Wood provided)

All of the property is included in the let, except the garage, which is where we store our stuff. The garden is securely fenced and gated. The ground floor and toilet has disabled access, but not the stairs. We are adjacent to a Woodland Trust park, with miles of spectacular walks.

We will hopefully be staying nearby, and look forward to welcoming you, but if not, a member of our close family will be on hand to let you in, and answer any queries or problems.
Outras coisas a ter em conta
We built this house ourselves over 4 years, as a retirement project, with a bit of help here and there from oak framers, electricians etc. Other than solar heating and power, we also included rainwater harvesting, heat recovery ventilation, filtered drinking water on tap, softened water at source, a central vacuum system and an induction hob.
There is a side garden of lawn, flowers and vegetables, and a patio area for eating and socialising on warm evenings, (we provide a small BBQ) The back garden has been keeping us busy this summer, and is almost finished for you to enjoy, but it's an ongoing project!
Note: Our open plan staircase would be very difficult to fit with a secure stair gate for adventurous toddlers.
Most importantly, relax and enjoy the house, and yourselves!
Any provisions left in the kitchen and freezer are there to share if needed, just leave a list of whatever you use and a donation towards replacement.
No smoking anywhere in the house please.
If you want to bring your dog, let's talk about it before you book!

We are active and recently retired, have lots of grandchildren and enjoy being out in the fresh air walking, sailing and cycling. We built our house over the last 5 years, and enjoyed learning all the new skills we needed. We are looking forward to meeting our guests.
