Conveniently located 1 mile to downtown, 10 minutes driving to Duke, and 15 minutes to RTP, this is a great base to explore Durham. This newly renovated 1933 home in a diverse neighborhood is bright and cozy.
Built in the 1930s, this 1,100 sq ft house has historic charm: refinished original hardwood floors, high exposed pine ceilings, and decorative fireplaces. You are free to use all the condiments and such in the fridge door, the spices, honey, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, laundry detergent, etc.
Two bedrooms have queen beds, desks, and dressers; if needed, the third bedroom is ideal for kids with a bunk-bed with a twin on the top and a futon sofa on the bottom that folds out in to a full bed. Normally this room is a TV room, with the futon set up as a sofa. There is a smart TV but there is no Cable and no TV channels, you can watch Netflix or YouTube on it with my accounts, or you can log in to your own Amazon Prime or Hulu account - don't forget to log out again when you leave. There is a Netflix Kids channel. There is also a pack and play you can use and some kids/baby toys.
The bedroom closest to the street has a noise machine for light sleepers who will be bothered by the sound of traffic (thank you to those guests who recommended this!)
Large windows offer lots of light throughout the house! There is central heat/air, and the home is newly remodeled in 2015. There is one bathroom.
There is a front-loading washer/dryer in the kitchen, a good-sized backyard, and plenty of space to park three cars end-to-end in the driveway, as well as free street parking. The large front porch and porch swing are good for relaxing in the evenings.
The home is only one mile from the where downtown begins on the eastern side (Old Havana, Ponysaurus, etc.) and 1.5 miles to the more western parts, such as Beyu Caffe/Five Points. It is 3 miles from Duke East Campus and 3.5-5 miles from West campus, depending on if you're driving or walking.
Acesso de hóspedes
You'll have access to the entire house, including kitchen, living room, porch, yard, three bedrooms, and the bathroom. The only spaces you won't have access to are the crawlspace and attic.

I will be around and available in person or by email/phone for questions or recommendations for things to do in Durham. Please remember that checkout time is 11am and checkin time is 3pm -- I can be a little flexible often if you need it, but usually have to get it ready for the next guest in between!
Outras coisas a ter em conta
While I allow pets, I can't allow any kitties because so many other guests have severe allergies. Please do check in with me about your pets if you have them, hopefully before booking if you think there might be concern.
I expect guests to respect the space and my home and treat it as their own. Please do not walk in the front yard other than on the path. Be considerate of your noise level for the neighbors.
You may not host parties at this house. This includes family reunions, weddings, etc. A few more folks than are staying at the house is fine!
Please do not take my stuff. Unfortunately this must be said because it keeps happening :( This is a home we are sharing, not a hotel. Please leave my towels, extra toilet paper, toiletries, etc., where you found them when you leave. Thanks!
Please pick up your dog's poop and try not to spill large quantities of substances on the sheets. I can give you a pro tip that inside the pillow case is not the place to store half eaten lollipops at night, contrary to some people's beliefs ;)
Please no smoking inside and proper disposal of cigarette butts in the large trash can if smoking outside. FAQ on "proper disposal of butts": Is it OK if I bring one of your bowls outside and fill it with cigarette butts? No, don't put cigarette butts on any of my stuff please. Can I put them in your watering can? No. Everyone, please stop using my watering can for this purpose! Can I throw them in your front yard or driveway? Zero butts may be thrown on my property, thank you!
