Winterwarm Cottage is the charming guest house of my mini-farm. Tucked away off of a quiet lane, it offers a cozy, comfortable getaway and a chance to meet and mingle with chickens, turkeys, geese, donkeys, a pig, a goat, a sulcata tortoise, and various animals that I foster, lately a cow and a sheep. A perfect home base while visiting North San Diego County attractions, centrally located between the beaches and Temecula Wine Country, both an easy 30 minute drive away.
Winterwarm Cottage is the guest house of my private and secluded Fallbrook home. Tucked away at the end of a long driveway off of a quiet lane, the property is a fenced and gated acre and a half that I share with an assortment of very friendly farm animals, many of whom are rescues. It offers a private and bucolic getaway just 2 hours from LA.
The cottage itself is a 500 sq. foot semi-detached studio with two private entrances. It features a well equipped kitchenette with a full sized refrigerator, a queen-sized Tempurpedic bed , wifi and a flat screen TV with Netflix. Please note, that though there may be in the future, at this time there is no AC. Fans are provided.
*Update from a guest who stayed during the recent hot spell (temps 95+ )
"the place was cool and comfortable".
There is a shady courtyard that is shared with the main house that is perfect for relaxing, or, for more privacy, a side yard with chairs and an umbrella and a gas grill.
I supply a selection of breakfast items such as farm fresh eggs, fruit, yogurt, english muffins and oatmeal, and other assorted snacks in case you don't have time to run into town for something to eat.
I offer discounts to active military and also to returning guests. (have had several already) If you are spontaneous and the calendar shows the cottage is not reserved 48 hours out, ask about last minute special pricing. I am also open to one night stays if booked the same week, just send me an inquiry.

I encourage my guests to feel as if this is their home away from home. You are welcome to all parts of the property; I find that a lot of the guests enjoy hanging out at the barn and visiting with the animals. Or, often, the animals may come up to the cottage and visit the guests...

I'm not sure who enjoys the experience the most; me, the guests, or the animals! I have met some of the most amazing and accomplished people and have had some wonderful visits. I work at home so am around a lot, but it's been very easy to share the property and I'm just as happy to visit as to leave guests to their privacy.
I enjoy all of my guests but I find I particularly like having single women to stay. I have ended up becoming friendly with several of them, so, as a single woman myself, I encourage any woman who is looking for a safe and friendly space to use as an artist's or writer's retreat, or simply as a getaway, to consider Winterwarm Cottage. Not that I have anything against single men ... : )
Outras coisas a ter em conta
I share my farm with a dog, 2 barn cats, horses (retired racehorses that I board for a racehorse rescue) 2 mini-donkeys, a potbellied pig, a mini goat, turkeys, geese, chickens, parakeets in an aviary and a sulfcata tortoise, in addition to various fosters that are here from time to time. It probably goes without saying that one should like animals if they stay here! My neighbor's chicken coop is within earshot of the guesthouse and her 2 roosters are early birds. I do supply earplugs and a radio, but please note, some of my personal guests have been bothered by this, but none of my Air BnB guests have considered it a problem. (and I ask) Also, though there may be some in the future, at this point there is no AC. A fan is provided. And, because of the barnyard atmosphere, flies and mosquitos can be a seasonal nuisance. Spray will be provided!
I don't like to have many rules, but I hope my guests would be quiet and respectful of the property. Because of all the animals, guest dogs probably won't work, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Pets will be evaluated on a case by case basis and are subject to a pet surcharge and additional security deposit. I appreciate a timely check-out of the cottage unless previous arrangements have been made. If there are no guests booked the following evening I can be open to a later check-out, just ask. Please note, this is my home. While the overwhelmingly vast majority of guests have been wonderful and respectful, it is not a place to party and drink excessively. If that is what you are looking for, neither I nor you will be comfortable.
I'm a sculptor, primarily equine, due to my many years spent in the horse racing business. I worked all over the world during those years and made friends far and wide. Now I am happily settled and feel very fortunate to combine my love of animals and art for a living. I'm also finding through hosting that I love introducing people and kids to animals that they may not normally have the opportunity to meet. (and vice versa, I'm actually quite proud of how nice and well behaved my critters are )) Turns out I'm running a petting zoo!
