Good day Nicola. Thank you for your generally positive feedback. It is however important for me to point out that Cape Town level 6 water restrictions were announced on Decemb (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) days AFTER you confirmed your booking. The drought we are suffering is a natural disaster the likes of which has not been witnessed in living history. Any inconvenience that you might have suffered as an inconvenience is regretted. However, you will surely appreciate beyond all of our control. It took home owners a moment to understand the implications of the new restriction level and I informed you with my AirBnB message dated 15.12, 9 days later and 14 days prior to your arrival: Quote "WATER CRISIS: The City of Cape Town has strict water restrictions in place which I ask you to stick to as best as you can.
1. Zuki will take a water meter reading with you on Saturday;
2. She will show you how to read it;
3. Daily allowance per household is 350 litres;
Please check after 24 hours what your consumption was so you have a feeling for it. I have more info in the house. Locals take 2 minute showers :).
4. I would much appreciate if you could collect your shower water in the plastic basin and use it to flush the toilet in the main bathroom;
5. Don't panic, there are rumors about "Day Zero" = taps will be switched off completely coming soon. It won't be before February. I have an emergency 1000 liter tank in the garden."
As you can note from the above, the water restrictions should have not impacted on your stay at all. All I did was encourage you to collect the shower water in 1 of 2 bathrooms and pour it into the toilet cistern of 1 of 3 toilets. Your review should have read "toilet", not :"toilets". If this was problematic for you, all you needed to do is close the cistern lid and open the water tap again. Excess water usage would have had no consequences for you. I have at all times been prepared to pay the water usage related fines. The pool water quality is closely related, it is against the law at present to do a pool water backwash and extremely hard to keep the water quality 100%. My staff and pool service, who were trying their best, sent me daily photos of the pool and I do understand the 2 days of murky water were not inviting to swim. I have therefore reimbursed you for 1 of 6 days rental. I trust this meets with your approval.
