Woodland suite is located in the small village of Backbarrow, in the Lake District National Park, near to the river leven at the foot of lake Windermere. Local towns include: Bowness on Windermere, Grange Over Sands, Ulverston and Kendal. All picturesque villages including Coniston, Hawkshead, Grasmere, Ambleside etc are all just a short drive away. There are 2 Pubs/restaurants in the village, Lakeland motor museum, steam railway (links with boats on windermere, Cafe ambio, and cliff hanger rooms.

Built in 2012, our slate and stone camping barns boast 6 single beds on the first floor. The ground floor space includes a dining area, kitchen area which includes a microwave, kettle, toaster, small fridge and a single electric hot plate. and a ground floor wet room. Bedding, towels, cutlery, crockery are all provided. Outside are stunning views, a picnic area and public footpaths through the farm. Breakfast is not provided can be requested at an additional cost.
With copious amounts of slate and wood, our camping barns are easy to move in and out of. Plenty of space for your belingings, with linen and towels provided. Bright and airy but with a woodburner including oven / hotplates.
Our neighbours are a good distance away. The nearby village of Oxen Park has a well-liked pub, The Manor, and an independent cinema, The Carthouse. A village store, chip shop, butcher and The Bakehouse bakery can be found in Greenodd.

O espaço é realmente simples, mas é agradável e aberto, limpo e moderno. Nós não ver os anfitriões, mas eles gentilmente nos deixou lenha extra no segundo dia que nos manteve nice e toasty e preparados para as rajadas da manhã.

    We fell in love with this place the moment we arrived. The peace of the area gave us a chance to relax in the beautiful surroundings. Close by, the lake, hills and mountains gave us the chance to have some adventures. Our Lake District cottage is one of four properties that were once the mill in Water Yeat. It has an open kitchen dining room which makes a great space to relax. The living room has a wood burning stove, vaulted ceiling and large windows with views over the hamlet and countryside.
    Our cottage has: An open kitchen diner with electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. A living room with two sofas, satellite TV, DVD and wood-burning stove. 1 double bedroom with king-size bed 1 double bedroom with double day bed Bathroom with bath and separate shower Hallway Parking for two vehicles Garden and patio
    We live in a small hamlet with lovely views and walks and cycle rides in all directions. Walk straight onto the nearby hills, down to the river or along to the lake Coniston Water. Nearby are the villages of Coniston and Hawkshead, the higher Lakeland mountains and Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin. A little further are Ambleside, Windermere, Langdale and Grasmere. The area has many great cafes and pubs serving local produce. For the more adventurous there is great mountain walking, climbing, mountain biking, canoeing and sailing close by, independently or with local adventure companies.

    Our home is in the hamlet where Arthur Ransome, author of 'Swallows & Amazons' spent his childhood holidays. Today it still retains its charm, even in high summer. We are a stone's throw from the lake, with woodlands & waterfalls on our doorstep.
    We have 2 lovely guest bedrooms, each with king-size beds, sharing a spacious bathroom. (We often only have one guest group at a time but on busy weekends you may have to share the facilities.) I provide fresh towels, shower & bath products, wifi access & tea/coffee making facilities in your room. You can enjoy your buffet breakfast either in the kitchen by the Aga, or outside if the weather is nice. You are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare your packed lunch or a simple evening meal though of course you may prefer to visit one of the local pubs or restaurants; the nearest pub is the Red Lion ( a gentle 2 mile walk away if you're feeling energetic!)
    If you want to leave the car behind, just step out of the door! Explore the small pebbled beaches and coves at the southern end of the lake by foot or on your bike. The lovely National Trust steam boat 'Gondola' plies the lake and you can have a leisurely cruise, or perhaps visit Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin for over 30 years. If you want to climb the fells, the Old Man of Coniston and other famous Lakeland peaks are just up the road.

    A stunning 200 year-old cottage located in the charming small village of Bouth in the Lake District, now a UNESCO world heritage region. Situated on a quiet country road and bounded on two sides by open fields, with grazing shire horses and Jersey cows, this is the idyllic country retreat. The cottage has been renovated to the highest standard whilst retaining all the charm of its period. The traditional village pub is a few metres away. Breathtaking natural scenery awaits you from the doorway.
    The architect-designed interior of this cottage has been exquisitely restored in the most beautiful quirky and contemporary style. The original fireplace, beams, and floorboards have been exposed and walls restored using traditional lime plaster. Solid oak handmade interior doors with beautiful ironmongery and a stunning white birch staircase have been added. Downstairs is a light and airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with rear access to a fabulous patio, where you can catch the sun for an alfresco breakfast and dine till late in the evening in the warmth of the sunset. The lounge area with comfy luxurious sofas, stone flooring and wood burner is the perfect spot for cosy relaxation after a long day. The dining area has a solid oak table with bench seating for four to enjoy a meal together and the light kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances, with an electronic oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, food processor, comprehensive kitchen utensils and washing machine. On the first floor, where the original A-frame beams are exposed to the apex of the roof, there is a spacious master bedroom with a king-size bed and a large, beautifully tiled shower and WC en-suite. There is also a second equally lovely en-suite WC. Outside the property is a private, raised patio with garden furniture, enclosed wildflower garden and shed for storing bikes. There is parking at the property, with an electric car charging option and space for two cars.
    The village offers a traditional pub a few metres from the cottage and a heritage farm where visitors can see traditional farming methods, even ride traction engines and enjoy a small cafe selling home-made ice cream, fresh milk and eggs. There are numerous walks of great unspoilt natural beauty from the cottage and quiet roads and tracks for cycling and mountain biking. The beautiful west coast of Cumbria with vast empty beaches is a 30 minute drive, whilst the Lakeland fells and lakes are accessible in all directions. Nearby, 15 minutes drive, is the quaint market town of Ulverston, with its narrow cobbled streets, where you can find good supermarkets, cafes and restaurants and charming craft shops. From the motorway there is a fast road without the traffic congestion of the tourist blackspots, giving efficient access to the cottage and from there to the rest of the Lake District National Park.

    This is a pretty, clean, quiet single room, 5 min from the centre of town, that looks out over the garden. Tea, coffee, herbal tea, kettle and toaster are provided. The bathroom suite is new and it has recently been retiled. A bit of work needs to be done to the wall. The hall way is well on its way, but needs a little bit of work also. . This work should be finished soon, but, if you need perfection, this room won't work for you. Its a pretty house though, with a lovely vibe.

    Ulverston is really pretty and atmospheric market town, which hold many festivals and music/art events throughout the year. Just outside of the National Park, it provides a great base from which to explore the Lake District, although it is not over-whelmed by tourists and retains a great community feel. It is the start of the Cumbrian Way, and the home of the Laurel and Hardy museum. There is a fabulous old cinema, which still has ice-cream intervals. There are lots of fabulous cafes, restaurants and pubs in the area. Although the house is only five minutes walk to the centre of town, it is located in a very quiet, pretty neighbourhood.

There are many wonderful walks and bike rides available right from the front door and some great gastropubs nearby - plus the 2 Michelin starred L'Enclume restaurant just a few miles away.

No smoking. . This terraced holiday cottage is a peaceful retreat and is part of an old farm that was converted some years ago. The cottage has a lovely woodburner, which gives the property a cosy country feel that makes it special. This is the perfect springboard to the Lakes, and if you like your walking, there are many walks from Hatherthwaite up to the Lakes and beyond. Many years ago you would have travelled to Haverthwaite to purchase gunpowder, nowadays you go there for peace and quiet! Haverthwaite is only a few minutes down the A590 from Backbarrow, 4 miles north of Cartmel, and has moved on from its days as an iron, steel, cotton and gunpowder-producing village to become a more tranquil getaway. Haverthwaite is famous the the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway. Running along the line that once transported gunpowder to the dockyards, the railway now carries tourists along the scenic route in traditional, heritage steam trains. Many of the old industrial buildings have been converted into flats or houses, whilst a number of beautiful holiday cottages have sprung up over the years to accommodate the large number of tourists who arrive in the village each year. The village’s history lives on in buildings like the old Gunpowder Works, with its ornate clock tower, and St Anne’s Church, which was built in 1824. A true taste of local life can be found at the local pub, which specialises in real ales, as well as putting on live music and quiz nights. Beach 3½ miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ¼mile.

    My place is good for couples, and families (with kids). Business people have also been happy to stay. One bedroom has two singles which can convert to a king size bed and the other room has a double bed. The shower room has a shower cubicle, toilet and washbasin. No washer in the cabin but guests are welcome to use mine. Country location, ten minutes from Coniston Water and twenty minutes from Windermere. Lots of tourist attractions in the area.
    Garden furniture on the veranda.
    Lowick is quite a scattered village, chippy and post office/store in Greenodd about five minutes drive. Ulverston, ten minutes drive is a quaint market town with small interesting shops as well as supermarkets. Fifteen minutes away is the peaceful Conishead Priory and Buddhist Temple.

The cottage sleeps up to 3 guests and the stylish accommodation has a single and a super king-size bed on a mezzanine floor above a snug living room area, around a wood burning stove and a very large open living space. Well placed to explore the Southern Lakes, with easy access to both Hawkshead and Coniston, as well as Windermere and Ambleside.
    The access, parking and gardens are shared with Waterside House.
    The Swan at Newby Bridge is lovely to stroll along to for a meal. The National Trust Fell Foot Park around the corner is worth a visit. You can take one of the Steamers on Lake Windermere from Lakeside up to Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside.

    The cottage has two double bedrooms with king size beds, the beds can be split into two small singles if this is required. There are two modern shower rooms one the first floor alongside the first bedroom and one in the wash house. The second bedroom is in the attic. Downstairs the open plan living area provides a fitted kitchen with a dining area and a lounge with a feature fire place and a wood burning stove. Gas, Electric and fuel for the stove is included in the price for the cottage. There is fast fibre internet connection and a Smart TV which gives guests access to the full range of catch up TV channels. Films are also available to guests who have an Amazon Prime or Netflix account.
    The cottage is close to Holker Hall and gardens, Cartmel Village, Coniston Water and Lake Windermere. The Haverthwaite Steam Railway and the Lakeside Steamers are only two miles from the cottage. There are some fascinating walks nearby along the Leven Estuary. For cyclists the National Cycle routes 70 (Walney to Wear) and 700 (Morecambe Bay) pass the front door of the cottage. Off road cyclists can access miles of tracks of varying difficulty nearby. The cottage owners can provide advice on suitable routes and can provide guided rides if this is preferred by guests. The nearby Coniston Fells and Grizedale Forest provide miles of varied walks for hill walking enthusiasts and families.

    Bank Cottage is a 'one off' experience of a stay. Once a bank, now a converted cottage. It still has many of the old, period features, including exposed beams and the original flagged floors. Bank Cottage is in the heart of the village of Greenodd, in the Lake District. It is the perfect stay for hikers and families alike. Just a stone throw from the local café, newsagents/post office, Fish and Chip Shop, The Porterage Co. and The Ship Inn means you have the village at your doorstep.
    The cottage itself is upside down! Entering through the front door brings you to the newly renovated kitchen which flows through to the sunroom, and the large living room. The living room is a L shaped space with space for seated dining as well as plenty of seats to gather round the wood burning fire on cold nights. Perfect for marshmallows! There is a large shower-room on this floor. The balcony extends off the sunroom and is partially covered and cannot be seen by the surrounding houses. Downstairs leads to the two large bedrooms and modern bathroom with a double walk in shower and a large bath. The master bedroom includes a king-sized bed and access to the laundry/boot room, if you require the facilities. The other bedroom is a spacious twin room with plenty of storage space for your stay.
    The house comes with free WI-FI though super-fast fibre internet, a washing machine, a smart TV that can be used to access a variety of streaming networks. There is also a log burning fire some initial fuel for the stove is included in the price for the cottage. There is fully fitted and furnished kitchen. There is also a travel cot and high-chair available to use for the younger adventurers. There are steps at the entrance of the property, however the doorways are very wide, due to its past life as a bank, however, the stairs in the house are narrow and curved.

    Ideally located within the Lake District National Park in the pretty village of Spark Bridge on the River Crake, you will find Hunters Moon. Stunning scenery surrounds us and the opportunity to see many of the wildlife that visit here. We offer self catering accommodation with own entrance and private walled garden area with seating. There are also a couple of paddocks should you be bringing your pooch to exercise, or sit on the hill and admire the surroundings.
    The apartment has a TV, DVD player (with a large selection of DVD's) sofa, table & chairs. The Kingsize comfortable bed can be made up as either a king size or two single beds. Please specify if requiring twin beds at time of booking. All our bedding is white cotton. We have secure bike storage and hose pipe. Private off road car parking in our car park at the rear of our home (can accommodate 3 cars, should you have visitors during your stay) We are happy for you to receive visitors, however we respectfully ask that they dont stay over night. Bedding and towels are provided. Hairdryer, iron and ironing board and clock radio are in the apartment. Basic cleaning products can be found under the sink and I also supply a few loo rolls along with tea, coffee and a pint of milk on arrival. We are very dog friendly. 2 large or 3 small/medium A car is advised unless you are planning to walk or cycle. Local public transport is very limited. NB: We no longer provide breakfast since converting to self catering accommodation
    We are located in South Lakeland in the Lake District National Park, close to both Coniston Water and Windermere lakes. You can take a boat out on the lake or hop onto one of the guided lake tours. There are plenty of walks from the door step of our home and we provide local maps and tourist information leaflets for you to use during your stay. There are 2 local pubs, both within walking distance (5 mins and 10 mins) serving great meals. Another good pub is about a half an hours walk into the picturesque village of Bouth. Ulverston is a 10 minute drive and offers a host of bars, restaurants and coffee/tea shops.

We are 10 minutes walk from the centre of this lovely market town with plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs, and cafes and a short drive from the National Park and walking distance from the station. O

    Ulverston is a small market town on the edge of the Lake District. It is a friendly, busy town with a variety of shopping opportunities covering all sort of goods and some very interesting local shops which cover local goods from food to pictures to clothes. We are situated on the edge of town so it's a nice quiet area with easy access to the Lake District e.g 20 mins to Windermere, but its only a 10 min walk to the town centre.

    The Lake District and our new one bedroom cottage is all you need for a perfect getaway and holiday. It has all the amenities you would require and is perfectly located to explore as much of the area as you desire. We are located in the quiet, rural area of the Rusland Valley within driving distance of all scenic areas including Grizedale, Coniston, Ambleside & Windermere, and are surrounded by fields and woodland providing a fantastic location for cycling and walking holidays.
    Our recently completed one bedroom cottage provides you with your own home-from-home experience. On the ground floor, there is an open plan kitchen and living room. The kitchen is fully equipped including a dishwasher, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, and all required dishes, pots/pans, cutlery, crockery and glassware. There is a breakfast bar to dine on. This will be setup along with a welcome gift for your arrival. We have provided a 2 person sofa and 40+" wall mounted TV with all British and German TV channels within the living room. Upstairs there is a bedroom with double bed and ample storage and wardrobe space, with both velux and front/rear windows to allow maximum light and views. Adjoined is an en-suite bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. The whole cottage has been designed to feel as warm, comfortable and space efficient as possible to give our guests a wonderful experience.
    Thwaite Head lies at the top of Rusland Valley, located just a few miles from the nearest attractions of the Lake District National Park. The 2nd floor Attic Flat (twin bedroom also available) is ideal for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers with entrance via owner's front door, hall and staircase.
    Whilst the apartment shines with modern light and brightness, the old beams remind us of the age and history of this house. More bedrooms are available on the first floor for extra guests in a party - price to be discussed on booking.
    There are excellent pubs, cafes and restaurants nearby, either in the local villages or in Ulverston which is lovely small town to explore. The entire Lake District is within easy access with all its varied activities, as well as the lesser known and travelled south-west Cumbrian coastline and fells. Without even getting in your car, footpaths from the house allow you to explore the Rusland Valley and beyond to Grizedale.

    Only five minutes from both Ulverston and Lake Windermere, this cottage is in the perfect spot for exploring the Lake District. It is set in a peaceful lofty village, overlooking Morecambe bay to one side and the Mountains, lakes and forest to another. Built in the 1800s and still with original features but recently renovated, the cottage is equipped with everything you might need for a perfect comfortable getaway... The best of both worlds!
    Perfectly suited for a couple, or a small family or group of adults. The house is very spacious and whilst there is room and beds for up to 6, we find it works best with no more than 4 adults. This is also in respect of the friendly neighbours and peaceful area we are lucky to be part of. Facilities include - large smart TV, freeview, fast speed WiFi, central heating and two log fires, double glazing, comfy sofas, fully fitted kitchen including double oven and dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Bathroom has wc, wash basin, bath and electric shower. Sleeping arrangements - The two double bedrooms are of good size, and we have a lovely attic room with almost a sea view (on your tip toes!) We also have a day bed in the entrance room. House layout - This is a period house with original features such as exposed wood beams and cottage doors. On the ground floor, we have a porch, an entrance room, cosy living room and small office area. On the second floor, we have the two bedrooms, bathroom and large airy kitchen-diner with farmhouse door. On the top floor we have the converted attic room. Outdoors - We have a lovely garden with a table for 4, seating and grass area for playing. Food and toiletries - We stock the house with most of the basics you might need for the first day or two (tea and coffee, toilet and kitchen roll, cleaning product, etc). All clean bedding and towels are included. Local area - We are part of a very small and peaceful village and accordingly please respect this. Access - Note that due to the original features of the cottage including uneven and narrow staircases, beams on ceilings and steep inclines by the side of the house, this may be unsuitable for older or less able people. Pets - You are welcome to bring up to 2 well behaved dogs into the cottage, there will be an additional charge of 10 pounds per dog per stay (or £30 if booking for a full week). Please send us a message to confirm. Parking - Free parking outside the property and plenty of space further up the road for additional cars.
    In Penny Bridge village, life is slow, and people are friendly. In this small village, within 5 minutes walk from the house you have ... Two pubs serving real ales and great food, the best bakery in the lakes, a post office, a Butchers, a newsagents, Morecambe bay estuary, a pizza restaurant, an award winning chippy, countless walks and stunning views. We are also on the start of the bay cycle route and there are lots of jogging and walking routes. There is so much to do but this is also the perfect village to simply do nothing! It can be nice to just relax in the garden and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The historic market town of Ulverston is just 5-8 minutes drive from the cottage. Here there are lots of beer gardens, walks, markets, beach, views, shops and restaurants.
