Balintore Castle has been extending her magical hospitality to guests since 1860. The building is located in a remote Angus Glen: offering direct access to hill walking, mountain biking, bird-watching and shooting. The kitchen wing accommodation has been lovingly and newly restored in keeping with the high Victorian character of the building. Professional catering for evening meal and/or breakfast is available: see menus in the photos. Tea & coffee making supplies and facilities are available.
The holiday accommodation is located in the kitchen wing of the castle. This is the first area that has been brought to full habitability in the initial phase of a restoration program that started in 2007. Accommodation costs will be entirely directed towards further restoration of the castle.
Glamis Castle is 10 miles away. The Glenshee skiing resort is 25 miles away.

Set in the Scottish market town of Forfar, only 15 mins from Dundee, this modern and redecorated 1 bedroom flat has everything you need for a relaxing break in Angus, an area fantastically placed to explore Scotland. We are experienced Airbnb super hosts welcoming over 300 groups of guests from all over the world with the aim of making you feel welcome and at home. We hope you consider staying at our flat in Forfar and we look forward to welcoming you and ensuring you have an amazing stay.
Ideal for exploring the East of Scotland, & only a 15 min drive to Dundee which in September 2018 seen the much anticipated opening of the V&A Dundee. You get the whole flat with this booking. The flat is only 5 minutes walk from the heart of the famous old Scottish town of Forfar and set in a quiet cul-de-sac. The flat is a modern 25 year old large 1 bedroom flat, with 1 large bedroom with a good size double bed, a large sitting room with freeview tv, free wifi, and 2 comfortable single camp beds allowing the flat to easily cater for 4 people. Also a large sofa allowing a 5th person to stay. A modern fully equiped kitchen with a table eating area for 4. Good size modern bathroom with bath and powerful shower, and cosy heating through out and plenty of hot water on demand. Free on street parking right outside the front door to the flat. Washing machine, iron and ironing board provided. We also supply a cot bed for infant guests.
The traditional historic market town of Forfar was once the centre of the ancient Kingdom of the Picts in Angus in Scotland. Now it's home to the world -renowned Scottish delicacy the Forfar Bridie (a deliciously crispy meat pastry traditionally eaten by local farm workers) with two big rival original bakers still in the town, Saddlers and McLarens who both claim to have made the original and still the best bridies. Only one way to solve it is try one from each bakers and make up your own mind. For an insight into Forfar's history, art and industry, visit the Meffan Gallery and Museum. Here you can wander through time in an old cobbled vennel, peer into a knockmaker's workshop and see linen being woven. The Meffan also tells the grim history of Forfar's place in the 17th century witch hunts. If horticulture is your passion, then you can't leave the area without a visit to Pitmuies Gardens, with its roses, herbaceous borders and woodland walks. Forfar and Angus has a number of beautiful walks which we provide guides for. Don't miss the monthly farmers' market on the 2nd sat of the month set in the local cattle market which is enjoyed by visitors and locals alike throughout the year with a wide range of gifts and locally produced food and drink. Forfar has a vibrant town centre with many independent shops and cafes both food and gifts, some nice pubs and restaurants, Forfar also has several medium size supermarkets. In the wider Angus/Tayside/Perthshire area there are amazing walks, climbing, & cycling routes. We provide contact details for a local Forfar outdoor shop who hire bikes for the day if you dont fancy bringing your own bikes. In our guide book we also suggest some lovely car drives or cycle routes to places around the local area. We are only a 10 minute drive from the stunning Glamis Castle and Glamis village where the Queen Mother grew up. Close to the beautiful House of Dun, 20 minute drive to the beautiful towns of Arbroath where you can sample the world famous Arbroath smokie and wander around its romantic fishing harbour, also close to Montrose, Brechin, & Carnoustie. Its only a 10 minute drive to the beautiful town of Kirriemuir which was the home of JM Barrie the author of Peter Pan with a museum in the town in his old house, and if you have younger kids there is an amazing play park paid for by the JM Barrie Foundation designed to resemble the Neverland pirate boat. (Our kids love it). Kirremuir was also where Bon Scott from AC/DC came from with a statue to him in the town. You are in the Strathmore valley which is at the foot of the Angus Glens with amazing scenery, walks, climbs and cycling routes, and close to the Cairngorms mountain range and Scottish Highlands with arguably some of the most beautiful mountains in Scotland with in the wider area. Forfar has several outdoor shops if you need to get some last minute walking or climbing esentials. We are also close to some beautiful beaches with in 30 minute drives great places for picnics, one of the best being the beautiful Lunan Bay. Some great fishing is in the area both rivers and lochs, with some of Scotlands most famous fly fishing locations with in 1 hours drive. We can recommend a local fishing shop in Forfar to help you. We recommend a local company about a 20 minute drive away who organise clay pigeon shoots for all expertise levels. Highly recommend if not tried before. For the more adventurous we also recommend a local adventure company who organise wet suit swims in local rivers and lochs. While being in the heart of the Angus countryside Forfar is also still close enough to explore cities like Dundee (15 minutes drive) & Perth (40 minute drive), and Aberdeen (45 minute drive away). Or other Angus towns such as Brechin, Montrose, Carnoustie, Monifieth, Broughty Ferry, Cupar Angus, Arbroath, Kirriemuir, (all about 15 to 25 minutes drive away). If golf is your thing we are close to a number of famous golf courses such as Carnoustie golf course which hosted the Open golf Championship in July 2018, and Forfar has its own highly rated 18 hole golf course. Forfar golf course claims to be the oldest 18 whole golf course in the world which is still open, and was designed by the famous Old Tom Morris and updated by the just as famous James Braid and often mentioned as one Scotland best hidden gems that can compete with some of Scotland more famous courses, and playing fees are excellent value. Then of course we are still only about a 45 minute drive from the home of golf St Andrews across the Tay Bridge in Dundee and a short ride into Fife and you don't even need to know anything about golf to appreciate walking around this beautiful, historic, and romantic old town. If you are staying in the area to attend a wedding we are close to a number of beautiful wedding venues such as Guthrie Castle, Forter Castle, Fingask Castle, Piperdam, House of Dun, Colliston Castle, Forbes of Kingennie, Carnoustie Hotel, Glamis Castle, and many more across Tayside, Angus & Fife.

Sheila é muito adorável e me cumprimentou pessoalmente para me mostrar. Ela ficará feliz em lhe dar dicas do que fazer em Kirriemuir e tem livros e guias prontos no local e alguns DVDs para o caso de o clima ser sombrio. Eu recomendo fortemente escolher este airbnb!

Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, the property has recently been refurbished and is light, bright and welcoming.Accessed by two steps, internally the house is all on one level, with a deck leading out from the living room to the front, which faces west giving views of wonderful skies and sunsets. Guests are welcome to use any of the herbs growing in the enclosed rear garden. Although bordered by a road at the rear, any slight noise from the light traffic is muffled by a fence and trees.
As the house is used frequently by the owner and family members, it is well equipped with normal every day items. The television receives only Netfix and there is a dvd player as well as a small selection of games
A well stocked convenience store is a few minutes walk from the house, with a supermarket less than fifteen minutes walk away. Although there's a hill to climb to return, there's a public bus every hour which will drop you at the bus stop just a minute's walk from the house. In addition to the excellent Co-op down the hill, in the town centre, McLarens' baker shop and Bertrams the butcher are both excellent independent food retailers. A few minutes walk from the house is Kirrie Hill with its camera obscura, a slightly longer walk in the opposite direction will take you to Kinnordy Loch Nature Reserve. The skeins of geese returning there to roost in the autumn/winter is a wonderful sight. There are many excellent eating places in the area. Just up from Bon Scott statue in the centre of town, Three Bellies Brae for freshly prepared light lunches,Glen Clova Hotel or Armstrongs outside the town for something a bit more special to name but a few - guests are spoiled for choice!

This spacious two bedroomed property is conveniently situated in a quiet side street, close to Kirriemuir’s shops, cafes and pubs.
This spacious 2 bedroomed flat is conveniently situated in a quiet side street, only a 2 minute walk from Kirriemuir town centre and a 1 minute walk to the local Co-op. On an elevated site, it has amazing views of both the town and hills to the south from the upstairs lounge. The property forms the upper two storeys of an attractive traditional red sandstone building of the type typically found in the town. Entry is on the left of the property, with stairs leading to an inner door. The lower floor comprises shower room and WC, a large, bright master bedroom, and a further double bedroom which contains a trundle bed, with the flexibility to make two single or one kingsize bed. There is a comfortable kitchen diner. You will find lots of kitchen equipment, condiments, breakfast cereals and preserves if you wish to self cater rather than use the many takeaways in town. The dining area is large enough to contain two easy chairs. Up a further staircase you will find the magnificent full length loft lounge, with 2 large Velux windows giving views to the south. view both the morning sunrise and the moon and stars at night, from the sofa. Just take care of the coombed ceiling if you are on the tall side. Outside the property there is a good sized enclosed garden, with a sunny patio and lots of colourful plants in summer. There is a covered area for cycle storage. The flat is furnished for the comfort of visitors, but also for my personal use as a holiday home. I have a friendly neighbour downstairs. Guests are requested to be respectful of his property and not cause undue noise. Parking on the driveway is not allowed. There is usually no problem in finding a parking space on the road outside.
Kirriemuir is known as the Gateway to the Angus glens, where you can enjoy peaceful walks, view wonderful scenery and see the wildlife. Kirriemuir itself has three museums - a rare Camera Obscura, Tayside Police Museum and the Council run Gateway to the Glens Museum. There are a selection of independent shops, (please support them during your visit), cafes and pubs, parks and an impressive waterfall. It’s a 30 minute drive to Dundee where you can take the opportunity to visit the newly opened, but already world famous V and A design museum. Visit the coastal towns and former fishing villages such as Auchmithie along the Angus coast, or play golf at some of the many courses including Kirriemuir, Forfar and the challenging Links Open Championship course Carnoustie. For walkers, visit some of the Angus glens. Glen Clova is best known but equally impressive are Glen Esk, Glen Prosen and my personal favourite, Glen Isla. As a keen cyclist I can assure you that you will be in cycle heaven on our quiet, scenic country roads. There are a couple of excellent restaurants within easy driving distance, Armstrong’s and The Drovers.

The Bothy is on a working farm and equestrian centre on edge of 'The Little Red town' of Kirriemuir, gateway to the Angus Glens in the east of Scotland.
The Bothy has a simple, modern feel with an integrated kitchen and living area, wood burning stove (with real wood), TV, stereo, etc. Downstairs in the living area it has a very comfy double bed settee and lots of soft furnishings. We want you to be very comfortable. Upstairs we have a compact mezzanine area with a fabulous Kingsize bed. In total the accommodation sleeps 2 but can accommodate up to 4. We would like to bring to your attention that the stairs are steep and may not be suitable for children or people with mobility issues. The Whole house is centrally heated but also has the added benefit of a wood burning stove. Cooking is by gas and the shower is fantastic and an ideal pressure! We will provide a breakfast hamper on arrival for your first morning which includes, porridge, free range local eggs, locally made jam, croissants, milk and butter. Any other specifics can be requested prior to arrival.
Kirriemuir is a fantastic little rural town and is nicknamed the gateway to the glens due to the towns fantastic location on the fringes of Glen Clova, Glen Doll, Glen Esk, Glen Isla and Glen Prosen which is fantastic for country walks and country pubs. Kirriemuir is also nicknamed "The Wee Red Toon" due to the town being built predominantly from red sand stone, giving it a beautiful, original look! The town itself is a 5 minute walk away from "The Bothy". You can visit the local pubs within the town and the many cafes and wee shops. Kirriemuir also has the famous Visocchis ice cream shop and the star rock shop which are both worth a visit and a bit of indulgence....your on holiday after all!!! The Kirrie folk are friendly and welcome visitors to the town. Kirriemuir folk make the most of their claims to fame by hosting Bonfest weekend which celebrates Kirriemuir being the birthplace of Bon Scott rock legend from ACDC. A statue which was unveiled in 2016 stands proudly in the town. Kirriemuir is also famous for being the birthplace of JM Barrie author of Peter Pan. The Peter Pan statue is also positioned in the centre of the town and his birthplace is open seasonally. The stunning Glamis Castle is a mere 6 miles away and regularly holds open days and events. the near by town of Forfar can be reached within 6 miles, Dundee is the closest city and can be reached in 18 miles. St Andrews (home of golf and worth a visit) is 32 miles away. Buses are available every hour to Forfar and Dundee from right outside "The Bothy". There is space for cars if u are coming with your own vehicle. Kirriemuir is perfectly placed to offer a wide variety of experiences and sight seeing opportunities as well as city visits if u so choose.

The Gallery Flat is situated in Kirriemuir town centre. A listed building, the apartment forms the lower half of a 19th century town house. Covering two levels, the apartment has a downstairs kitchen which opens on to a sunny courtyard garden. The flat is comfortable, tastefully decorated and homely. It showcases original art from local artists and makers, which is also for sale. It provides a perfect base for exploring Kirriemuir and the Angus glens.
art lovers, walkers, climbers, ACDC fans, golfers
Kirriemuir is a quaint, unique little Scottish town. Renown for its distinctive red sandstone buildings it has retained much of its historic appeal. It's famous sons include JM Barrie, writer of Pater Pan, Bon Scott singer with ACDC and Sir Hugh Monro. The centre of the town is a conservation area and the buildings still reveal its weaving heritage, but the history of the area is also steeped in an older Pictish past.

Broomhill is a comfortable modern country house located in a quiet Angus Glen with stunning views, 8 miles north of Kirriemuir. We have 3 double rooms and 2 bathrooms. We are ideally situated for exploring this north eastern corner of Scotland where you can enjoy hill walking, golfing, beautiful scenery, castles and gardens, interesting cities and towns or simply enjoy some peace and quiet. To make the most of your stay with us, we would recommend you come for at least two nights.
Our 3 double bedrooms, each with a standard double bed, are comfortable with good views of the Glen, and the two bathrooms are modern with excellent showers. As most of the downstairs is open plan, there is a lovely sense of light and you have uninterrupted views of the garden and Glen from the guest sitting room and dining room.
Our house is in a unique position with uninterrupted views down the glen and across to the hill of Catlaw. The only traffic past the house is the occasional tractor or quad bike so it is wonderfully quiet. Roe deer, rabbits and pheasants share the fields with the sheep, and in the summer we are occasionally visited by a red tailed kite and red squirrels. Further up our glen, a white tailed eagle and golden eagle can sometimes be spotted. In winter, when snow is lying, red deer shelter on the side of the hill across from the house. From the front door you can set out on a wide variety of walks suitable for all levels of fitness, or you can drive to the head of Glen Prosen and tackle the two local Munros, Driesh and Mayar. Kirriemuir is only 8 miles away where there are several tourist attractions: a museum, Barrie's birthplace, the Camera Obscura, cafes, a super market, a golf course and a sports centre with swimming pool. Within 1 hour’s drive there are several castles, National Trust properties and lovely beaches to enjoy, and Glamis Castle is only 6 miles south of Kirriemuir. We are 50 minutes from Dundee where the V&A museum has just opened to much acclaim. The building is simply spectacular and is very close to Discovery Point, the DCA (Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre) which includes a cafe/restaurant and a couple of cinemas. The city centre with its Overgate Shopping Centre is close by and Verdant Works and the MacManus Gallery are well worth a visit. If you are a golfer, there are local courses within easy reach at Kirriemuir, Forfar and Alyth. The well known courses of Rosemount (Blairgowrie), Carnoustie and St Andrews are also not too far away. For skiers, Glen Shee ski resort is just over 1 hour's drive away, via Glen Isla. There are take aways in Kirriemuir as well as several pubs and on Tuesday evenings, live traditional music is played in Bellies Brae pub from 8pm. Within a radius of 15 miles there are a variety of restaurants - or you can book a tasty 2 course evening meal at Broomhill.

Culhawk House is an architect designed converted and extended stone bothy, located in a fine rural setting on the hillside at Over Ascreavie farm steading, on a private estate. It lies at the gateway to Glen Isla, adjacent to Glen Prosen and Glen Clova, but is approximately 5 miles from the major town of Kirriemuir, famous for being the home of Peter Pan. The house sits in an elevated south facing generous plot, with far reaching views of the Glen and open countryside.
All on one level, the spacious hallway leads to a large open plan living/dining room with a wood burning stove as a focal feature. The bright triple aspect kitchen has a range cooker and dishwasher, large upright fridge freezer, and adjacent spacious utility room. 2 bedrooms (Superking with ensuite, double with 'Jack n Jill', both have baths/showers) and a further cloakroom/wc. There is also a study off the welcoming hallway. (BEDROOM 3 IS LOCKED/NOT IN USE) The house has under floor heating throughout - it remains at an ambient temperature 24/7, so you should stay cosy morning and night! A small burn runs through the garden, and views to Culhawk Hill and surrounding fields can be enjoyed, with parking for 2 cars on site. You approach the house from a rising farm track, and immediately behind the steading lies a further track leading to glorious unspoiled hill land, with stunning views to Cat Law, the Pearsie estate and down to Auld Allan - that in turn leads to Balintore Castle. The wildlife here include deer, birds of prey, red squirrel, all the game birds, hares and stoats - there are even local beavers at the nearby village of Kingoldrum. No smokers please, and a maximum of 2 dogs are welcome, but strictly not on the furniture! Please sleep your dog/s in the utility room (a large dog bed is provided). Please also keep you dog under control at all times on the steading - fields will have livestock in the summer months. The hill behind the house is also used for Pheasant shoots and occasional Deer stalking, and sometimes there are sheep or cattle up there, so it is essential you keep your dog/s under control on leads and observe any notices displayed. No party usage please, and no smoking. Please note - mobile phone signal is very poor for most phone providers when in the house (in the garden and on other areas of the steading the signal can be stronger, some smartphones may get Wifi phone signal), Wifi is BT broadband, but the speed is not great! as we are in a fairly remote area, so you may find heavy use like live streaming etc is slow.
This area is ideal for anyone who enjoys walking, cycling, golf, fishing, shooting and is around 40 minutes from the glorious beaches at Lunan Bay (Arbroath) and St Cyrus (Montrose). The nearest village is Kingoldrum, whilst Perth and Aberdeen are all within an hours drive. Nearby Kirriemuir has 2 supermarkets, plus cafe's, shops, bars and banking amenities that you would expect from a large town. There is a Neverland play park on The Hill at Kirrie, and Dundee is currently undergoing a £1 billion investment programme including the exciting new V&A Design Museum on the river Tay. Dundee also provides cinemas, retail shopping and Scott of the Antartic 'Discovery' ship on the Quayside. Dundee is just over half an hours drive from Culhawk House. Glamis Castle is a 15 minute drive away. Glenclova, with access to Loch Brandy and the stunning walks at Glen Doll, including Jocks Road to Braemar, is around 20 min drive. Lintrathen Loch provides our glorious water supply, and is 10 minutes drive away, with the Wee Bear café at the Lodge at Lochside adjacent to the water. The waterfall at Reekie Linn is a 15 min drive, with Peel Farm gifts and café en route just before Reekie. The Drovers Inn at Memus is a must for Angus steak lovers and offers both bar and restaurant dining options (Tuesday night is 'steak night'), and the The Strathmore Arms at Glamis a well regarded and traditional watering hole. The Glen Clova hotel has both a restaurant and Climbers Bar, and often promotes special events like the summer Beer festival. For those wanting something for a special occasion meal, try the Lands of Loyal at Alyth for some Scottish grandeur - around 20 mins drive from the house.

The Elms is a classic Scottish house of the Edwardian period, set in an acre of beautiful gardens. It is located in the small town of Kirriemuir, with a five minute walk to the centre of town where you will find shops, cafes and restaurants, artisan galleries, museums, and bars.
We offer a family/group space of two separate bedrooms with its own sitting/television area complete with Sky TV and Netflix, and private bathroom (with bath) . One bedroom has a super-king bed, and the other has two king-single beds, with an additional infant's cot available should you need it. This makes it an ideal space for a family. The space has central heating throughout, and access to tea, coffee and toast facilities. On the ground floor, overlooking the gardens, we have an additional lounge and dining area for the exclusive use of our guests. We have free off-street parking for your convenience.
Kirriemuir is "A Wee Red Toon" and is famous as the birthplace of J.M. Barrie, the author of Peter Pan, and where the once lead singer of AC/DC, Bon Scott, spent his infancy. It is also the "Gateway to the Glens" and is the jumping-off place for many of the classic Angus Glens walks. There is a network of beautiful walks in and around Kirriemuir such as the Kirrie Den, Kate's Wood and Caddam Wood. It is only a 45 minute drive to Glenshee Ski Fields. Nearby is Glamis Castle with history stretching back to the 1300s and birthplace of the Queen Mother.
