Tucked away just 300m from Paxton House, Dene Cottage offers 1 double room with luxury bath / shower room in a fairytale setting with woodland walks along the river Tweed. Enjoy this warm and welcoming haven with ample parking for bikes or car. An additional single room is available which is listed separately and is not let, unless agreed, when the double room is taken. This is a ‘b&b’ not a self catering property though guests are welcome to share the downstairs seating area.
Two guest rooms are located in a spacious private annexe. There is a luxury shower room on the ground floor and a contemporary spiral stair leads up to 1 dbl and 1 sgl room and an additional luxury bath / shower room. This listing is for the double room only. You can add the single room by making a separate reservation.
Five miles from the walled town of Berwick upon Tweed and about fifty miles from Edinburgh the area is full of hidden gems and historic castles on both sides of the English/Scottish border. Very quiet roads for cyclists and excellent beaches and coastal walks nearby. The cottage is surrounded by Paxton House Country Park. A percentage of the cost of your stay will be donated to the Union Chain Bridge restoration fund.

    Some great rates and dates for January/February 2020 are still available for a quick cosy sojourn away from the hustle and bustle! Right in the heart of the town centre, our apartment is the perfect cosy pad to explore Berwick and local surrounds. Free Wi-Fi and Sky Channel is also available if you just want to relax your weary legs or watch a movie.
    Use our apartment as a base to explore the delights of Berwick or visit other attractions in Northumberland and surrounds. It is located right in the heart of Berwick town centre, is walking distance from the train station, beaches, the Tweed River and a stones throw from local pubs, restaurants. Our apartment has a pretty view overlooking Marygate, the main high street of Berwick including views of the local church and the town. On Thursday afternoons and periodically throughout the week you can enjoy the town hall bells ringing out over Berwick as well as the Town Hall clock chiming out every quarter hour and then the chimes each hour. In terms of the apartment, it has been freshly decorated and has a very warm and cosy feel, making you feel instantly at home. Depending on the number of guests you have the accommodation is flexible. The master bedroom has a super king sized bed which can be converted into two large single beds, the second bedroom has a king sized bed which can be converted into two single beds. If you would like breakfast we have a couple of delightful cafes and restaurants one under the apartment block which offer delicious breakfasts. If you want to eat out and enjoy one of Berwick's many fine pubs or restaurants for dinner, they get booked out in peak season, so best to book ahead. Let us know if you would like some recommendations, we are more than happy to help.
    The Town Centre Apartment is right in the centre of Berwick-Upon-Tweed. Enjoy all the cosmopolitan delights of the cafes and patisseries as well as the handy shopping, the train station close by and the tourist attractions including the wall, Berwick's famous bridges, town hall, lighthouse pier, museum, art gallery, river and beaches!

There is a large kitchen you are welcome to use and we will provide a continental breakfast (cereals, toast, fruit). We are 4 miles from the beautiful East coast and Foulden is surrounded by lovely countryside. Next door is a yoga studio so you could incorporate a yoga session into your visit. We can provide further details on request.
    We are close to the beautiful seaside town of Berwick upon Tweed with its historic walls and unique shops and cafes. The Berwickshire coast is just a short drive away with pretty villages like Coldingham and cliff top walks at St Abbs. Berwick is just a 45 minute train journey from Edinburgh if you want to explore the city.

    Our cottages are based on our old family run farm- a private road within our family farm. Providing a rural and peaceful location. We are located just outside the small village of Chirnside, which has a small grocery shop, butcher, post office and pub. Short drive to amazing beaches (such as Coldingham), coastal walks along the Berwickshire coastal trail, St.Abbs nature reserve, stately houses such as Paxton and Mallerdiston, Jim Clark motor racing museum, Border Abby and the historic walls of Berwick Upon Tweed. Further drive is Alnwick Castle and Gardens (Harry Potter fans a must see!) along with Edinburgh and Newcastle aprox 60mins drive. Ample Private Parking outside the cottage

    A traditional shepherd’s hut with a modern twist, surrounded by native hedging with uninterrupted views over open countryside. This cosy retreat promises to let you unwind in country style. You can put your feet up in front of a toasty log burner after a day exploring or watch the sunset while barbequing in the evening… and when the night falls, the dark starry skies here are sensational, just the thing before snuggling up in a luxurious double bed, listening to the calls of the tawny owls.
    We believe at the Shepherd's Rest that your holiday with us is an opportunity to unwind, enjoy the beautiful surroundings and reconnect with them. So we don't supply Wi-Fi on site (although a 4G signal is available) and in the Hut we supply a radio. We don’t supply a TV or DVD player as way of a digital detox. We supply plenty of books and games in the Hut for you to read or play, so you can have time to relax, unwind or even be inspired! The Kitchen area in the Hut has the following facilities : fridge, belfast sink for dishwashing, microwave oven, electric kettle for making hot beverages and there is also a gas BBQ with Hob available for alfresco cooking. On site facilities consist of two additional Huts, one with a flushing toilet and sink, the other cabin has a mains electric shower. They are always pristinely presented and beautifully decorated. There is a kitchen building, which has a large sink with hot and cold water, tourist information leaflets, free range eggs for sale, hairdryer and a table and chairs. Cars remain in the car park, and we do not accept dogs. As we have a small farm, you are welcome to meet our animals, including sheep, pigs, hens and ponies, along with viewing wildlife such as deer, buzzards, lots of farmland birds, foxes and badgers.
    We are fortunate enough to live on a small farm in Foulden, a rural village in the eastern Scottish Borders, just 5 miles from Berwick-Upon-Tweed and its mainline train station. It is a secluded quiet location, free from traffic jams and suburban noise, allowing you to unwind and relax with just the sounds of wildlife and farm animals as a backdrop. We are close to some fabulous beaches, Coldingham and Cheswick being our particular favourites, magnificent castles and stately homes including Floors Castle, Manderston and Paxton House. Nearby Ayton, is home to The Hemelvaart Bier Café, a trendy continental style bier café bar which hosts live music, film and comedy events. The Scottish Borders is a beautiful, relatively undiscovered region, the gateway to Scotland, convenient for Edinburgh, the Lothians and North Northumberland. We started our family farm here in 2003, built our own farmhouse and transformed the land into a nature-friendly grassland farm, planting diverse traditional hedges for wildlife corridors and encouraging biodiversity. By grazing our sheep and Scottish native breed ponies on a non-intensive system, the wildlife here has flourished enormously over the years. We enjoy a huge variety of small birds, from robins, yellowhammers, wrens, house sparrows, tits and woodpeckers to buzzards soaring high on the thermals. The summer is very special, with the return of swallows from Africa and skylarks hovering way up in the sky, singing their hearts out! In the autumn and winter, fieldfares and huge flocks of migrating geese pass through. At night, we are lucky that there is no light pollution, allowing fantastic stargazing opportunities – you may hear barn and tawny owls too! In the spring when we are lambing, you can see the lambs with their mums, exploring their brand new world. You can also see groups of deer, pheasants, badgers, foxes and hares on the farm.

The bedroom on offer is a single bedroom with a pullout bed that turns into a double, the price is for a single room so please don’t expect to have the same standard of a double room for the price paid. Towels, hairdryer, bedding provided - bring your own toiletries. Note: Gingie our friendly cat and Pandora our rascal Labrador are part of our family.
    PLEASE NOTE: the price is for a SINGLE bedroom with pullout bed that turns into a double. The price is for a single bedroom occupancy but happy to accommodate a couple sharing the pullout bed AT NO EXTRA COST as long as you understand that this is completely out of kindness as you are only paying for a single person’s occupancy. PLEASE, keep your expectations realistic that this is ideally a single room hence the price as double rooms in town will cost you more!
    Train station, town centre, local shops and tourist attractions, the landscape is the best mixture between country and sea. Meu namorado e eu só fiquei em Berwick por uma noite, mas Juliana foi útil para mostrar como navegar na cidade e sua casa era apenas uma caminhada de cinco minutos para o caminho da natureza que levou a ruínas do castelo ea famosa ponte. Originally built as a Quaker meeting house in 1749, the interior has been skillfully designed to create a pure, pared-back style which is the epitome of understated elegance. Using a colour scheme of gentle whites and tranquil neutrals, there is a sense of flow and harmony throughout this apartment which will quickly ease you into a holiday mindset. The open plan layout has a sophisticated feel with sofas and chairs in natural tickings and linens along with lovely touches and ambient lighting, while the sleek, monochrome scheme of the kitchen and dining space effortlessly blends together the overall look. Outside space Please note the property does not have any private outside space, however there are plenty of lovely spots for relaxation within easy walking distance including the Elizabethan walls with panoramic views of the Tweed estuary, the beaches, the river walks and the town’s recently renovated parks.     Sitting just off the A1, the Apartment is perfectly located for short breaks or longer stays throughout any season and provides an excellent base to explore the wider Northumberland and Borders area. With the main East Coast Rail Line running through Berwick it is also an ideal car-free destination served by good local services. Sitting just a five minute walk from the town centre, the property benefits from excellent amenities right on the doorstep. In one direction, you will find a selection of characterful shops on Castlegate including a book shop, an antique centre, a deli and a fantastic vintage shop, as well as ‘Pier Red’ where you can sip a rich espresso whilst browsing art works and collectibles by popular Northern artists. Also look out for their regular jazz evenings where you can unwind to the smooth, mellow sounds of talented local musicians. For something a bit different, take a boat trip from Berwick upstream to Paxton House, a superb Adam mansion which is home to the largest private gallery of any country home in Scotland with an extensive collection of paintings dating from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, many of which have been loaned by the National Galleries of Scotland. The town hosts a number of events throughout the year including the Riding of the Bounds in May which follows the ancient tradition of riding the town’s boundaries to guard against thieving Reivers; the Seaside Festival in August which includes street entertainers, Punch and Judy, live music, and sandcastle competitions; the Food and Beer Festival in September which is a mouthwatering opportunity to sample all the region’s superb produce; and the Film and Media Arts Festival, the largest of its type in the region. The area has over 26 miles of fantastic beaches just made for lazy picnics and outdoor adventures. Spittal beach is popular with families with wide golden sands, an attractive promenade and fun splash park, while Cocklawburn, Goswick and Cheswick beaches all sit close by. The stunning beach at Bamburgh is a also a must-visit, sitting just a short 20 minute drive from Berwick. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is about a 20 minute drive from Berwick, only accessible by a causeway at low tide. A designated National Nature Reserve, this tiny, picturesque island is often described as ‘The Jewel of the Northumberland Coast’. It is an overwhelmingly mystical place, home to the evocative remains of a ruined eleventh-century priory, a beautifully restored castle and the infamous Lindisfarne Mead. There is excellent bird watching on the Tweed estuary around the town and also further afield at St Abb’s Head and the Farne Islands - home to a resident colony of grey seals in addition to an impressive array of birdlife including puffins, guillemots, razorbills and terns. There are two golf courses close by; Magdalene Fields five minutes from the town offers superb views of the famous Elizabethan walls, the cliffs leading into Scotland and the iconic castles at Bamburgh and Holy Island. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty six miles south of Berwick, Goswick is a highly-regarded links course selected as an Open qualifying course. For a city day out, Berwick Station is about a 10 minute walk from the apartment offering an easy day trip to the magnificent sights of Edinburgh, just 45 minutes journey by train.

    Visit the beautiful Northumberland Coastline with some of the best beaches in the country. We have an abundance of castles nearby with Norham, Ford & Etal, Bamburgh, Alnwick...     The West Lodge is ideally located just within the Scottish Borders and also has great access to North Northumberland. This newly refurbished, dog-friendly, cosy cottage has all of the amenities you would expect for a relaxing escape away. With river side walks just a stones throw away, a great dining pub within walking distance and many beaches to explore within 15 minutes drive, you will never be short of entertainment. Edinburgh is just 45 minutes away by train from Berwick upon Tweed.
    The entrance porch as space for hanging coats and storing outdoor footwear. The main corridor runs almost the length of the building and leads to the kitchen and living space to the left and the bedrooms and bathroom to the right. The kitchen has a large fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave, electric hob and oven with seating for four people. The sitting room has a smart TV and DVD player, a great selection DVDs and also benefits from a wood burning stove. There is one bedroom with a kingsize bed and one bedroom with two single beds - all have feather duvets, Egyptian cotton bed linen and soft and fluffy towels provided. Both bedrooms have in built wardrobes. The bathroom comprises a three piece suite with a rainfall style shower over the bath. Outside there is off road parking with space for 2 cars and a small enclosed garden with a shed to store bikes etc.
    The cottage is located just outside the village of Paxton, about 5 miles west of Berwick-upon-Tweed. It makes the perfect spot to explore further into the Scottish Borders or down the Northumberland coast with easy access to Holy Island, Bamburgh and Seahouses. It’s also just a 45 minute train journey from Berwick to Edinburgh city centre. We are located within easy walking distance of Paxton House and it’s beautiful grounds and gardens, cafe and river side walks. Traditional net fishing still takes place on the banks of the river Tweed in the summer months. Please note, the lodge is located next to our working arable farm which will be a busy place during the summer harvesting months.

    My house is unique. Old stone, large windows, high ceilings, wide doorways - very solid and lovely. I much enjoy having guests to stay and helping them plan their sightseeing days, and advising on good places to eat locally of which there is good diversity.

    Large southwest facing bedroom with two sash windows giving uninterrupted views over the river Tweed. The room has very comfortable king size bed with luxury bed linen. There is a sofa and two vintage deck chairs for lounging in. Decoration is clean and simple in the room and delightfully quirky elsewhere. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided. Towels also supplied. A second double bedroom is available if needed for additional guests - at additional cost.
    Moments away from restaurants, independent shops, galleries and pubs yet quietly located. Many wonderful walks around the historic walls, along the river and to the beach are right on your doorstep.

    Cosy yet spacious loft room 4 mins walk from train station with mainline links to Edinburgh, Newcastle & London. Your comfortable bed will have you refreshed and ready to explore this historic town, all within walking distance of your accommodation!
    The loft room, with full head height space, is an eclectically dressed comfortable, cosy yet spacious room. It has a wonderfully tranquil feel and very private with its own staircase and boltable door. The sea can just be seen between the trees and rooftops and with the window slightly ajar I can promise the sea air will give you an amazing nights rest. With your own fridge, toaster and kettle you can enjoy a lazy breakfast (continental style breakfast included in price) at your convenience. Although detailed in 'Guest Access' it is worth noting at this stage that your own shower room is situated on the ground floor. The family bathroom (on the first floor) is accessible for your convenience for the wc and hand basin only. I have had guests request the use of our bath and I've been happy to accommodate where possible.
    I love my neighbourhood!!! I'm fairly new to Berwick myself, moving here in September 2013, and consider myself very lucky to live in this jewel of a place. Berwickers are friendly and helpful folk. The place is steeped in history, with the river and rolling country views and walks to one side and the sea and coastal walks to the other, Berwick-upon-Tweed is a fantastic location for a break away!!

  • Oh meu deus, é absolutamente amei ficar em casa de Linda. Ela nos fez sentir muito bem-vindos a partir do segundo nós removido na sua encantadora casa. Toda a casa é tão limpo, arejado e absolutamente impecável com alguns grandes projetos pequenos do interior acontecendo. O quarto foi enorme e bem decorado, com área de estar na janela bay sendo apenas uma das vantagens de se hospedar com Linda. Ela passou por um monte de problemas através da criação de um mini-bar-como configurar não apenas com o suficiente deliciosas guloseimas de pequeno-almoço para mantê-lo por um tempo, mas também fornecendo pequenos lanches para seus clientes a ter para qualquer hora do dia completo. Nós realmente queremos voltar ao seu lugar no verão para apreciar o belo cenário um pouco mais. A única desvantagem é que a rua de Linda estacionamento residente apenas, no entanto, você pode estacionar nas proximidades e Linda está feliz em ajudá-lo a encontrar um bom lugar.

    The Sycamores is located close to the village of Chirnside - home of Formula 1 champion Jim Clarke. Situated on a private estate, surrounded by woodland, open countryside and adjacent to the river Whiteadder. The beautiful Scottish Borders have outstanding natural attractions, including breathtaking beaches, hiking, and cycling opportunities. World-class golf courses are also nearby.
    A continental style breakfast is included and there are drink making facilities in each room. There are two bedrooms available with contemparary decour and private accomodation with television in each room. Travel cot available if required, but please bring own bedding. Secure storage for cycles is available if required. Unfortunately we are unable to have pets to stay. This is a non-smoking home, however your are wlecome to smoke in the garden.
    The property is a short drive to Berwick-on-Tweed where the artist JS Lowry enjoyed holidaying, and you may recognise some of the views from his paintings. We are also a few miles from the small, charming town of Duns where you can amble in the lovely grounds of Duns Castle, as well as drop into the local coffee shops. There are a number of good local pubs who provide excellent food in the local area.

    Linnet Cottage is a pet friendly cottage situated on a small organic arable farm 10 minutes from Berwick-upon-Tweed. Linnet has great views out to open countryside and is only a 15 minute drive to one of the most stunning beaches in Northumberland. With secure bike storage this is a perfect place to also enjoy the many excellent cycle ways. The cottage is the perfect base for exploring Alnwick, venturing to the Edinburgh Festival or visiting Holy Island. Our local pub is a 20 minute walk.
    Our holiday cottage has wonderful views of open farm land and you can relax in the morning watching the wildlife from your super king size bed.
    Linnet Cottage is situated on a 600 acre organic arable farm. It is very peaceful. Your neighbours are quiet and have lived here for a long time. The farm has three holiday cottages in total and everyone respects each other's privacy. The beach is 15 minutes by car and there you will find some of the most spectacular unspoilt Northumbrian coastline.
