Chesil Bank is set in the stunning countryside just 2miles ( and on a bus route) from the beautiful market town of Monmouth. The Wye valley is on the door step with the rivers Wye and Monnow brilliant for water activities. A hop over the back field will take you to the glorious Buckholt woods, brimming with flora and fauna. This area is renowned for cyclists and we are actually on the John O' Groats to Land's End cycle route!
Our rural working home is perfect for walkers, cyclists and those looking for a warm, friendly and homely atmosphere.
Buckholt is a linear hamlet just two miles on the Hereford road outside Monmouth. The countryside is wonderful- hilly in places! There is a pub a mile along the road. Monmouth is full of history, delightful shops, pubs and cafes with the river running through it.

Pen y Fedw is a private light-filled cottage accessed via its own driveway & entrance. Recently refurbished it's a luxurious modern bolt hole for couples seeking peace and relaxation. People love the incredible views from the bedroom, the super comfy super-king bed and the wonderful slipper bath as well as the luxurious furnishings and fresh flowers. Downstairs there is a shower-room, kitchen and cosy sitting / dining room with log fire and access to your own private patio.
There is a supply of DVDs, CDs and a CD Player and board games and books. The bedroom has a large screen TV with FreeView, as well as the luxurious slipper bath and has incredible views over the Monmouthshire countryside from every window. The kitchen is sleek and well appointed with a Delonghi coffee machine and has all you need inc. oven, hob and microwave. We also provide all the essentials - tea, coffee, sugar, olive oil, salt, pepper & washing up liquid so you don't have to bring them. With beautiful walks from the door its the perfect place to bring your dog(s). We can accommodate up to two of your four legged friends for £20.00 payable on arrival. The garden is not 100% dog proof. We can also accommodate an infant under two and have a travel cot, high chair and baby bath should you need it. Just let us know on booking.
We are in between the beautiful Wye Valley and the Brecon Beacons, with the beautiful river Wye and Symonds Yat nearby. You can rent a canoe on the river or visit one of the ancient castles in the vicinity (Skenfrith, Whitecastle, Grosmont and Raglan). Plenty of walking also available in the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons. If golf is your thing, the famous Rolls of Monmouth Golf course is in the village.

  • Esta é uma acomodação maravilhosa. Os jardins são lindos, com um rio que flui pelos jardins e uma pequena passarela para atravessar para o outro lado. Existem muitos lugares para sentar e ler ou apenas ouvir a água borbulhando ao redor do antigo moinho. Há boas caminhadas que você pode fazer desde a porta da frente. O caminho do dique de Offa atravessa a área não muito longe. Uma curta viagem de carro leva-o a bares / aldeias para refeições à noite. Denise e Simon são adoráveis, realmente acolhedores. Você vai se divertir. Vou ficar aqui novamente.

    This is a one bedroom, first floor apartment in a converted sandstone barn. Situated in a quiet rural location it is perfect as a relaxing retreat or a base to explore the wonderful local attractions. There is one double bedroom with ensuite, open plan living space with fully-equipped kitchen and lounge area. Wi-fi is included.
    Llangarron is a quiet village with few amenities and we are situated at the end of a short country road approximately 3/4 mile from the centre of the village. We can offer a peaceful and relaxing place to stay yet we are only a few minutes from some excellent road links. The neighbouring village of Llangrove has a friendly country pub that serves food and welcomes visitors. The accommodation retains the original roof timbers and beams. Whilst the ceilings are high there are 2 beams which give are only approx 5'8'' above the floor. Previous guests invariably viewed these as part of the character of a traditional barn conversion.
    We are in a quiet rural location and guests frequently comment on the tranquillity despite being close to good road links. As a consequence we generally have a good range of song birds, quiet lanes and traffic free footpaths to ensure you can relax and enjoy your stay. The market towns of Ross on Wye and Monmouth are equidistant in opposite directions and are approximately 5 miles away. The Lower Wye Valley region is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for very good reason. The traditional holiday activities of walking, cycling, canoeing, fishing, golf etc are all available locally. Places to visit - The Royal Forest of Dean with its wealth of wonderful scenery and social history. You can visit some local locations used to film some recent movies such as - Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens, which used Puzzlewood near Coleford or Coppett Hill which featured in a Harry Potter film. - Symonds Yat with it’s magnificent river views and famous Peregrine falcons, it also looks spectacular viewed from a canoe. Canoe trips are easy to organise from Ross on Wye or Monmouth. - The Dean Heritage Centre......... is worth a visit - The cathedral cities of Hereford and Gloucester. Hereford Cathedral houses the world famous mappa mundi Gloucester Cathedral was used as part of the set for the Harry Potter films - The Malvern Hills. - The River Severn (with its famous tidal wave – ‘The Severn Bore’). -The Welsh Borders, including the 'Book' town of Hay-on-Wye and the Brecon Beacons. -Goodrich Castle, plus other historical sites.

    We offer luxury bed and delicious breakfasts in our contemporary, stylish home. Our en-suite guest room is perfect for one or two guests as we’re just 15-20 minutes walk in to Monmouth town centre. We are dog friendly and can offer dog-sitting in the evenings if guests wish to visit our local theatre, cinema or restaurants. Ideally located for walkers, cyclists, canoeists and all visitors to Monmouth and the Wye Valley we are also situated fairly close to Monmouth’s excellent schools.
    Coronavirus Pandemic Following government instructions we are no longer accepting bookings until it is recommended that it is safe to do so. Stay well and healthy! The spacious en-suite guest room has a beautiful antique French king size bed with a modern comfortable mattress and pure cotton bed linen. There is a wall-mounted TV/radio, fresh coffee and tea making facilities, biscuits and bottled Welsh water. The large bathroom has a walk-in rain shower and a separate free-standing bath. Large towels, hand towels and facecloths together with aromatic Neal’s Yard bathing products are provided for guests. The private balcony has a table and chairs and on warm, dry days our guests can enjoy views of the garden as well as the Brecon Beacons in the distance. In summer breakfast can be served on the balcony, but is usually served in the kitchen - especially at this time of year! Breakfast includes fresh fruits, yoghurt, cereals, toast (homemade bread) and a range of delicious preserves. Freshly cooked breakfasts change according to availability of local free-range produce. Wholesome vegetarian, vegan, low carb or gluten-free breakfast are also available. Ground coffee and organic leaf tea is served at breakfast. Two course freshly home-cooked evening meals or light suppers can usually be served on request. Please ask for a menu to be sent ahead of your visit.     Liz’s place is 15 mins walking distance to Haberdashers School for Girls and 25 mins walk from Monmouth School for Boys and the Comprehensive School - ideal if you’re coming to view the schools or visit boarders. We’re close to Offa’s Dyke path and the beautiful Wye Valley (AONB). Monmouth is a lovely town to visit with a magnificent Shire Hall, historic court, a museum and a Friday market. There are some excellent restaurants and pubs serving great food both in the town and within a short driving distance. There is a charming old cinema (The Savoy) and a modern theatre (The Blake) and the Queens Head pub offers live music on a regular basis.

    Purpose built annex (30 sq m), with its own entrance and central heating, in idyllic village location. The Annex is attached to a period stone-built house in large and interesting grounds (3.5 acres) set on a south facing slope with 2 ponds and a variety of specimen shrubs and trees. It is perfect for the solo traveller (tourist or business person) as a relaxing rural retreat, or a base to explore the wonderful local attractions, being only 2 miles west of A40. Basic price quoted is for 1 guest.
    Llangrove (see www.llangrove.org.uk) is a quiet village with a church, primary school and a friendly country pub (within walking distance) that serves food and welcomes visitors. We are situated on the periphery of the village but less than 0.5km from the centre and the village hall. The Annex has its own entrance, sitting room with mini kitchen, bedroom and shower room. The mini IKEA kitchen includes microwave, refrigerator, and electric hob. Bedding and towels are provided including kitchen cloths etc. Robin and Francesca offer a peaceful and relaxing place to stay yet we are only a few minutes (2 miles) from some excellent road links, particularly the A40 with ready access to the M4 and M50.
    Llangrove is almost centrally located between the 3 market towns of Ross on Wye, Hereford, and Monmouth; each being 10 to 20 minutes by car. The area has many attractions including the Wye Valley (eg Symonds Yat), the Brecon Beacons, Offa’s Dyke, and plenty of history and castles (eg Goodrich, Wilton, Skenfrith, Grosmont etc) to explore. There are, within the area, a plethora of pubs and restaurants to suit most tastes and budgets.

    The Little House on The Priory is sat in the picturesque Welsh border village of Skenfrith, just 15 minutes from Abergavenny, Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye. The Little House sits just beside our home (though has it’s own driveway and entrance) so we’re not too far away if ever there is a problem. Within walking distance is The Bell, a Conde Naste awarded pub/restaurant, a beautiful church, historic castle and the river Monnow. The Little House is a strictly No Smoking property.
    The property is all yours! It has three double bedrooms and is presented to a high standard. The walls are raw lime plaster providing a cool contemporary look, but it remains really cosy. For guests who want to remain connected whilst in the countryside, the property benefits from a large TV, wireless broadband and telephone line. If you’re bringing kids we also have a Blue Ray player for their collection of films. After a long walk, why not use the hot tub to relax? After each set of guests, the hot tub requires draining, re-filling, heating, treating and maintaining. As you can appreciate, this costs time and money, so we apply the following charges to the use of the hot tub: 2/3 days £45 4+ days £65 There is also an outdoor seating/dining area and a lawned area.
    Skenfrith is a characterful village, set in beautiful Welsh countryside, complete with a volunteer based community shop, an historic Church, the remains of a Norman castle and The Bell, a lovely country pub. Known as The Gateway to Wales and renowned for it’s excellent food, nearby Abergavenny boasts many excellent eateries, including The Hardwick, The Walnut Tree, The Angel Hotel and The Chapel Cafe. Not forgetting the historic city of Hereford and the lovely market town, Monmouth. Skenfrith is perfectly placed to enjoy all the area has to offer.

    This spacious, single-storey property is all about space, freedom, light & fresh air! It's so large you won't be on top of one another, and there's lots of space outside to run around & let off steam. Visitors are greeted with a 'welcome pack' of essentials, including tea, coffee, milk and sugar. Keen cooks will find salt, pepper & a selection of herbs & spices, & we also supply basics such as washing up liquid, washing machine powder & cleaning materials.
    Set on the edge of the valley above Monmouth, the property boasts breathtaking views stretching across the Wye Valley and to the Black Mountains. The cottage sleeps 6 in 'proper' beds, plus there are 2 double sofa beds, one in the main bedroom & one in the sitting room; a travel cot is available by arrangement. There is one spacious double bedroom with TV & en-suite bathroom with large corner shower, WC & basin; one twin room made up of two adjoining single rooms with an open doorway between them; & one large twin with a standard single bed and a 4ft bed (small double). Each bedroom has French windows opening into one of the secluded courtyards that surround the cottage. There is also a family bathroom with a shower over the luxurious corner bath, basin & WC. A sunny entrance hall/breakfast room leads into the spacious sitting room with a range of family games, books & DVDs for all ages & tastes. There is wifi internet throughout the property. The kitchen is the hub of this home. It’s well-equipped with electric oven & hob, microwave, large fridge, freezer, washing machine & tumble dryer - and both a cafetiere & coffee filter machine! The outside area can be secured so that all but the most determined escape artist-dogs can run freely throughout the yard & large lawned area in front of the cottage - although we still need owners to ensure that they do not break into the fields with the livestock, of course!
    The tiny hamlet of Welsh Newton Common is situated between the beautiful Monnow and Wye Valleys amidst the borderlands of England and Wales. It is close to Offa’s Dyke and the attractive market town of Monmouth with its mixture of elegant Georgian mansions and Victorian courtyards, offering excellent shops, pubs and restaurants. For the more energetic there is great walking and cycling available from your door, including walks along Offa’s Dyke, the Wye and Monnow Valleys and the Forest of Dean, as well as horse riding and canoeing along the beautiful River Wye nearby - something that is very popular with many of our guests, from complete beginners upwards; some people even take their dogs with them! The area is also rich in heritage, with many castles including Monmouth, Goodrich & Raglan Castles, and numerous beautiful churches including the remains of the stunning Tintern Abbey just half an hour away. Other attractions include Clearwell Castle and Caves, Puzzle Wood, Symonds Yat, Monmouth Activity Centre and Hereford with its beautiful cathedral, excellent shopping and of course the Mappa Mundi. A bus runs into Monmouth or Hereford a few times a day from Welsh Newton village at the bottom of the hill (about 20 minutes walk). The nearest pub is in Llangrove village - a pleasant, if occasionally muddy, half-hour walk downhill to get there but sometimes a bit of a struggle on the way back!

    Explore Part-Y-Seals Gardens which surround our Country House.The 4 acres of mature gardens make for an interesting walk. Late winter sees the first of the flowers with a covering of snowdrops over the lawns and woodlands, followed by spring bulbs, flowering cherries, azaleas and rhododendrons. During the summer the kitchen garden suddenly comes alive with naturally grown fruit and vegetables of every description from chillies to grapes. If it can be grown, we try growing it here!

    Our delightful, refurbished country cottage is perfectly located on the Welsh borders, close to the historic town of Monmouth. Sleeping up to 6 people it has stunning views over the Wye Valley (AONB) and our vineyard. Guests will enjoy the peace of being in a rural area, with the convenience of being able to walk in to town where there are good restaurants, pubs, independent shops plus M&S and Waitrose. The river Wye , Offa's Dyke and the Forest of Dean are on accessible from our doorstep.
    The cottage is extremely well equipped and furnished to enable our guests to enjoy a luxurious country break away. A welcome hamper of our own Estate wine , Welsh cheese, bread, butter, milk and eggs awaits you - along with those essential store cupboard ingredients such as salt, pepper, tea, coffee, sugar, oil, vinegar, etc. The cottage has a large lounge with a desk area and a bright and airy kitchen diner leading out on to the west facing patio with gas BBQ and garden furniture - a gorgeous sun trap! Upstairs are three good-sized bedrooms (one is en-suite) and a bathroom with a walk-in shower. Two of the bedrooms can be made up as double or twin bedded rooms. Walkers, cyclists and other adventurers will appreciate the utility room complete with washing machine, dryer and heated drying rack. Outside is a cycle rack for up to 4 bikes. Parking space at the cottage for two cars - additional parking can be made available very close by. Tennis players will be delighted to be able to use our all-weather tennis court.
    Whichever way you look from the cottage there is natural beauty around you. To the west is Wales and the Brecon Beacons. To the east is the Forest of Dean which can be reached by crossing the river Wye and past The Kymin (NT). Go north and you'll be in the rolling green farmlands of Herefordshire and turn south and you'll find Tintern Abbey, the lower Wye valley and Chepstow. In 10-15 minutes walk you can be in the centre of Monmouth where you'll be able to eat, drink, shop and admire the birthplace of Henry V and Charles Rolls (of Rolls Royce). If golf is your favourite sport then you'll already know about the prestigious course at The Rolls of Monmouth - there is also Monmouth Golf Club and the Forest Hills Golf Club a short drive away. If you want to play at the Celtic Manor where the Ryder Cup was held back in 2010, then you're only a half an hour drive away.

Large farmhouse style kitchen/breakfast room. In beautiful countryside yet only 15 minutes from the M50 Motorway at Ross on Wye. Easy parking on the drive. Automatic gate. Shop and petrol station with great mechanics only 150 metres. The Garway Moon pub only 1 mile, super food and beer. Large garden and sofas under the verandah to relax on and take in the views. Breakfast not included and not normally available but do ask. Living room generally off limits. Guests can prepare food in the kitchen and eat it in the kitchen/breakfast room but generally expected to leave the kitchen once cleaned up. But we may occasionally both fancy a beer together! Bus from the house to Hereford 3 times a day or a 1 mile walk/hitch will get you to the more regular Monmouth to Hereford bus. 5 miles away is the Hereford to Ross on Wye to Gloucester bus - bus stop at The Red Lion, Peterstow. Gloucester is best for cheap trains and coaches to London. Hereford and Abergavenny are the closest railway stations at 12 miles. Hereford best for Birmingham and Manchester trains. Everything is easier with your own car but pick ups can be arranged from bus and train stations. No smoking in the house. If you like the occasional cigarette we can agree on a space outside. If you wish to smoke a lot at my house I don't think it is the house for you.
    Full of interesting people. A lot of musicians, artists, writers, tradesman, business people, farmers and alternative lifestyle types. Darkest county in England. No street lights in the countryside - as it should be. Beautiful scenery Great cider produced in local orchards. I can point you in the right direction there... Vibrant music scene. Again I can tip you off about gigs locally. Flicks in The Sticks - monthly cinema in our ancient village hall. The monthly pub quiz on last Sunday of the month - 'hi brow' and not like your typical pub quiz. Newcomers always welcome Only 45 minutes from the outskirts of Cardiff, 55mins from Bristol, 1hr 10 from Birmingham. All above airports about 1hr 15mins. Heathrow 2hrs 30 to 3hrs depending on traffic/driving style.

  • Dennis e Gaye farão parte da família assim que você chegar! Fabulosa hospitalidade, conhecimento local, comida brilhante e novos coquetéis para aprender;) Assim que encontramos a pista da direita, onde ficava a casa, fomos recebidos com chá e vinho e o balido dos cordeirinhos. O quarto amarelo foi muito acolhedor eo banheiro bem abastecido. Minha tarde mergulhou no banho foi uma felicidade. Foi um prazer jantar com Dennis, Gaye e Mark e depois sentar junto ao fogo à noite. Eu recomendo reserva!

  • Acabamos de voltar de ficar a noite na bela casa de Dennis e Gaye no campo, e não paramos de falar sobre isso desde que saímos! Que experiência. Das mensagens iniciais na reserva para o telefonema para se certificar de que sabíamos onde estávamos indo, Dennis foi muito minucioso e atencioso. Quando chegamos e vimos as luzes cintilando pela janela, sabíamos que tínhamos escolhido o airbnb certo! Dennis e Gaye nos receberam como velhos amigos, com grandes abraços e taças de vinho. Eles nos regalaram com as histórias mais incríveis! Nós ficamos no quarto vermelho e senti como realeza, em uma cama tão confortável era difícil sair - entretanto o café da manhã surpreendente de Gaye era mais que valor que se contorce fora de nosso ninho acolhedor para. Ela gentilmente atendia vegetarianos com deliciosos cogumelos e tomates recheados, iogurte grego, mel Manuka e frutas frescas. Nós nos divertimos muito na companhia deles / delas, nós acabamos gastando a tarde inteira com Dennis e Gaye, enquanto indo para um mercado de veg fantástico, apanhando algumas plantas novas bonitas, e então sobre o local deles / delas para um meio copo antes de encabeçar atrás. Dennis e Gaye são duas das pessoas mais maravilhosas, bondosas e perversamente engraçadas que já conhecemos.   • A casa está situada em um local bonito e é muito quente e acolhedor dentro também. Dennis e Gaye são anfitriões maravilhosos, pessoas adoráveis e nunca deixarão de se divertir com suas histórias hilariantes e surpreendentes! Foi realmente um fim de semana maravilhoso e eu recomendaria a ninguém. O único conselho que eu daria a alguém esperando para visitar é obter instruções para a parte final da viagem, pois pode ser um pouco difícil de encontrar, se você não sabe para onde vai, mas para mim isso foi ainda mais beneficiar como você realmente está no meio da natureza!

    Part-y-Seal is a peaceful and relaxing haven set in the beautiful Monnow Valley. Our rooms are en-suite with a choice of super-king, four poster, twin beds or family rooms. Within our 4 acres of mature gardens is a large kitchen garden where all our produce is naturally grown. Guests are welcome to take breakfast outside in summer, where you’ll see the vast amount of birds and wildlife around, or by log fires in winter. This truly relaxing break starts with a complimentary cream tea on arrival.
    White Castle is a large double room with 4 poster bed. There is the option of 2 extra single beds making the occupancy up to 4. Guests have use of all the properties facilites including free wifi, free parking, breakfast, use of the gardens and more.
    Explore Part-Y-Seals Gardens which surround our Country House.The 4 acres of mature gardens make for an interesting walk. Late winter sees the first of the flowers with a covering of snowdrops over the lawns and woodlands, followed by spring bulbs, flowering cherries, azaleas and rhododendrons. During the summer the kitchen garden suddenly comes alive with naturally grown fruit and vegetables of every description from chillies to grapes. If it can be grown, we try growing it here!
