This beautiful, hand crafted wooden cabin on wheels has everything you need for the perfect getaway. With direct access to footpaths leading on to the south west coast path, this is an ideal bolthole for walking or surfing holidays or just the perfect excuse to get away from it all. The tiny house sits in a quiet corner on our family farm in North Cornwall, just over 2 miles from the coast.
Our Tiny House is a beautiful wooden building 2.5m by 7m, situated on our small family farm. The walls, floor and roof are fully insulated and windows double glazed for winter stays. Inside there’s a full kitchen, living room area with a sofa bed and bathroom complete with shower and toilet. A ladder leads to the sleeping loft with a large double bed. The Tiny House was built 3 years ago as a ‘zero-footprint’ mobile studio on wheels and is powered by solar with gas for hot water. Our aim is to make it as eco-friendly as possible. The property is wired for 12 volt only, but we have now added the option to charge smaller 240v items like laptops etc via an extension lead to the house. There are also six USB points for charging phones and two cigar lighter sockets for other 12 volt equipment if required. Our Tiny House is a simple, comfortable retreat away from all the hustle and bustle of modern life. It has a cute private garden with deck and BBQ. Set away from the house, a 200m walk across the next field is a large deck and hammock looking out, down the valley which is perfect for enjoying a sunset drink, with a fire pit area perfectly positioned to sit and watch the sunset over the sea, and when dusk gives way to night, the fantastic display of stars. Whilst the tiny house is located on our remote farm surrounded only by fields, it is just 5 minutes from the A39, giving good access to the rest of beautiful Devon and Cornwall. The unspoilt nature reserve adjacent is the perfect place to walk and explore – a 2.5 mile walk will take you to the beautiful Marsland Mouth (where the Cornish coast path begins). A 40 minute walk across the valley sits the picturesque old village of Welcombe and fantastic pub, The Old Smithy. There are plenty of other amazing walks, beaches, pubs and places of interest nearby. Clovelly, Bude, Hartland, Tintagel and Boscastle are all within 40 minutes’ drive. Please note that any reviews before June 2019 refer to where the tiny house was previously located. This spot (only 200m away) is still available to use, exclusively for guests staying in the tiny house and has a driftwood deck, fire pit and hammock area. The tiny house is now found on the edge of the farm itself. You will still have the benefit of your own private entrance and private garden, but you may hear more farm type noises during the day! The description and pictures have been updated to reflect this and the pictures you see in the listing with sea view are of the old site which you are able to use.
The house is situated on our family farm, at the end of a small road. We are surrounded by green fields and woodland on all sides, with fantastic views looking west down the valley out to sea. Just 200m to the North is Marsland Valley Nature Reserve, which forms the north Devon-Cornwall border. Welcombe (Devon) and Morwenstow (Cornwall) are both quiet, friendly villages with rugged coastal walks, great cycle routes and cute old pubs.

Blow away the cobwebs with a coastal walk, then relax in the indoor hot tub and snuggle up for a film night in front of the wood-burning stove. This stone, single-storey cottage looks onto the former farmyard; there are views over fields and the tower of St Nectan's church to the sea from the picnic/play area.
The Linhay Cottage is a stone built, single-storey cottage with a double and a twin-bedded room. It has a well-equipped open plan kitchen/dining/living area with wood-burning stove. Pippins is a gorgeous shepherd's hut in a romantic and magical location. There's everything you need for a relaxing and memorable stay. A bathroom with shower and compost loo (don't worry it's fine!). A kitchen area with hob, microwave and fridge, in case you decide not to pop along to The Bush nearby! The wood burner will keep you toasty warm. There’s also a BBQ for al fresco dining. Last, but by no means least, we heat up the amazing wood-fired hot tub for your own exclusive use.
Pippins is set in a quiet corner of a beautiful 1.5 acre garden with stunning views over the wildlife pond to the surrounding valleys. Nestled beside the pond is an amazing hand-built Hobbit House built of straw bales with a grass roof and a wood burning stove it is a wonderful place to relax in the evening with a glass of wine on the comfy sofa. We supply enough wood to get the hot tub up to the right temperature so you can have a relaxing soak under the stars. Additional uses of the tub are charged at £20. There are also logs available to light the wood burner in the hut should you wish. We have teamed up with the village coffee shop across the road where you can purchase delicious cooked breakfasts and lunches using local ingredients. All our guests will get a 10% discount on all café purchases.
Morwenstow is a beautiful little corner of Cornwall that borders North Devon. There are some gorgeous woodland walks as well as the stunning coastal path. There are plenty of beaches nearby, our nearest is Stanbury Mouth recently featured in the Times as one of the 5 best secret beaches in the country! Just a 10 minute drive along the coast road gets you to Sandymouth with miles of gorgeous sand, if you time it right at low tide you can walk all the way to Bude. A new shop has opened just across the road so you can now get supplies without having to drive 5 miles!

A romantic hideaway. Welcombe Coastal Barn sleeps 2 (+infant and/or one dog) with its own large garden and a short walk to the Atlantic beach of Welcombe Mouth. Total peace in a wooded valley of outstanding beauty. AONB listed and part of the globally important UNESCO Biosphere of North Devon. Self-catering, green oak framed barn. Walk; surf; swim;ride; cycle;chill. Walk the S.W. coastal path for miles; swim & surf in the sea and cycle the traffic free green lanes of the Hartland Peninsula.
A green oak framed barn with wood burner, beautiful garden for exclusive use, and set in 18 acres of private land. Sleeps 2 with double bedroom; spacious, light filled sitting/dining room; galley kitchen and shower room with power shower. The barn is situated in an AONB in North Devon and is a short walk to the Atlantic coastline at Welcombe Mouth, and the south west coast path. The magnificent beach is totally unspoilt and managed by the National Trust. A truly peaceful hideaway. No traffic, no street lights, no bustle, only the natural world and starry skies, fabulous sunsets and the sound of the sea to enjoy. You can walk, surf, swim, cycle, ride and fish by day and enjoy good pub grub at night if you don't want to cook. Welcome hamper on arrival. If you need to keep in touch with your work place or have access to the internet whilst you are on holiday with us we offer free Wi-Fi access.
Cranham House and Coastal Barn stands in its own setting in beautiful countryside, with woods and hills of outstanding natural beauty. It is a short walk from the garden (about 20 mins) to the beach at Welcombe Mouth on the North Devon/Cornwall coast. It is part of the parish of Hartland and Welcombe is just a valley away. Welcombe itself has a small fine church, great pub and a community run shop. The whole area is called the Hartland Peninsula and is just a network of green lanes, farms and tucked away houses with the Atlantic ocean an ever present influence on all our lives. The woods are carpeted with bluebells in Spring and the succession of wild flowers in Summer is breathtaking. The sense of space and freedom to roam along foot paths and on the magnificent stretches of the coastal path, (south to Morwenstow and Bude; north to Hartland Quay and Point), cannot be rivalled. Perhaps, it is only the Highlands of Scotland or the deep interior of Wales which can match it for a sense of British wilderness. The nearest towns are Bude (15 miles) and Bideford (20 miles). Clovelly is about 10 miles away and Hartland is 9 miles from us. The surfing beaches are too numerous to mention. Water sports of all kinds are available. There are fabulous gardens to visit including the only RHS garden in the West Country - Rosemoor - which is a easily drivable in a day. There are golf courses in Bude and Westward Ho! (the oldest links course in England). Cycling along the quiet green lanes of the Hartland Peninsula is a joy and virtually traffic free. Of course, there is always the option of doing nothing. Of sitting on the beach and completely chilling out with nothing more strenuous than a book and a picnic.

You'll never forget your trip to Miss Trimble's Cottage! Miss Trimble's Cottage is named after the first ever resident Elizabeth Trimble who lived here in the 1850's. It's the wing of Dene Lodge House, a beautiful Victorian "Gentleman's residence" in the parish of Morwenstow. Just a few minutes from the dramatic Coast Path it is fabulously placed for exploring this stunning area. Endless walks and gorgeous beaches are all very close, so dogs are welcome to join you on your holidays.
The cottage is fully equipped and we live on site in case there is anything we haven't thought of that you need. You have your own kitchen and amazing bathroom with a sumptuous freestanding bath and a separate shower as well as a beautiful bedroom and living room with open fire. The living room also has a comfortable double sofa bed for extra guests. As well as the house you are welcome to enjoy the extensive communal gardens and relax in the Hobbit House! We have recently installed a wood fired hot tub in the communal gardens which guests are welcome to use, we ask for a £30 contribution towards the cost of firewood each time the tub is heated. If you want to use it please let us know and we'll get it ready as it takes a few hours to fill and heat up. In case you don't feel like cooking we have teamed up with the village coffee shop across the road where you can purchase delicious cooked breakfasts and lunches using local ingredients. All our guests will get a 10% discount on all café purchases.
A 5-minute drive will reach the dramatic Coast Path, while 10 minutes by road will reach Duckpool and Sandymouth beaches. Morwenstow is a picturesque corner of Cornwall that borders North Devon, and there are numerous woodland and cliff top walks nearby. A new shop has opened just across the road so you can now get supplies without having to drive 5 miles! There's also a traditional Cornish pub and a wonderful tea shop just five minutes away by car or 30 minutes by foot.

Little Barn is close to an amazingly beautiful beach in a very quiet and stunning part of the world just on the border between North Devon and Cornwall. There is excellent walking along the South West coast path straight out of the back door as well as picturesque valleys, hills and woods away from the sea. There is a wonderful local pub within walking distance serving good food. Great for families, surfers, swimmers, walkers, couples, anyone wanting a rural escape.
The house is well kitted out with dishwasher, oven, halogen hob, washing machine and tumble dryer. All bedding and bath towels are provided, but not beach towels. You can sit out in the garden and enjoy the sunshine; we have garden furniture if you want to eat outside as well as comfy, foldaway chairs for lounging. There is a fire bowl for barbecues and toasting marshmallows. We are in the small village of Mead on a very quiet road with maybe 10 or 12 properties in the hamlet. As it is in quite a remote spot, you need a car to get to us and there is parking at the property. For those who want to stay connected, we have unlimited fibre broadband Wi Fi and a television with all the Freeview channels. There is also a bluetooth speaker to connect to computers, phones and i-pods. There is a good library of books which we have accumulated over the years, a file with lots of local info and suggested walks. There is local art and photography on the walls and quite a lot of board and card games for you to use.

Large, comfortable open plan cottage with outdoor living areas. Sleeping four in two large bedrooms and two bathrooms it is ideal for a family or two couples. Shared large gardens with outdoor sauna 5 mins from the beach, in rural surroundings.
A comfortable and well designed modern home with great attention to style. 5 minutes from the beach, nearby pub, and great outdoor living. First class quality throughout.
Situated on the South West Coast Path there is lots of exploring and walking on some of the finest coastal scenery in the South West. A path leads to a beautiful beach with waterfall, and the nearby village has a pub serving good food.

The Granary is a cosy cottage for two in a beautiful hamlet that is part of the North Devon AONB. The stunning beach of Welcombe Mouth is within walking distance, starting from the public footpath at the bottom of the garden. Tucked behind Linton farmhouse, overlooking farmland, with distant sea views it is a great place for walking, surfing, mountain biking or just relaxing and watching the magnificent sunsets and amazing starry skies free from any light pollution.
The Granary was converted from an old stone granary barn, tucked behind the main farmhouse, and is set in its own garden with pretty patio area. Stepping inside from the patio there is a light filled country kitchen well equipped for both cooking and dining. A spiral staircase from the kitchen takes you to the cosy sitting room with warming log burner, freeview tv , distant sea views and a comfy sofa to curl up on in the evenings. A sumptuous bedroom with super king bed can, by arrangement, be made up as twin beds and has an ensuite WC. There is a spacious bathroom, with WC and large bath with electric shower overhead, just along the hallway. Also, off the hallway, there is a cupboard housing an automatic washing machine for your use, and the boiler providing central heating and constant hot water. We hope that here you are able to get away from it all, enjoy the beautiful walks, the birdlife, the unspoilt beach of Welcombe Mouth and viewing the rugged Atlantic coastline from the South West Coast Path but, should you need to stay in touch we do provide free wi-fi access. Please be aware however, mobile phone signal is generally poor in this area.
Linton is one of a small number of tiny hamlets that make up the parish of Welcombe. Spread across steep valleys, connected by lanes lined with Devon banks abundant in wildflowers, Welcombe has a lovely small church a traditional thatched pub (The Old Smithy Inn) with food, quiz nights and live music and a village hall hosting community events such as a regular cinema night and bridge club. All of which, with your walking boots, can be reached along the footpath or lane from the Granary. This area, known as the Hartland peninsula, is renowned for the untouched natural beauty of its wind swept oak trees, ancient wooded valleys, its rugged surfing beaches and the stunning coastal paths linking Devon and Cornwall. The local beach, Welcombe Mouth, is a beautiful rugged beach that is a five minute drive away and has a small car park, but can equally be walked to down the beautiful fern-lined lanes and paths. For essentials, the Welcombe Community Shop is 2 miles away and is open six mornings a week. Larger supermarkets are available in the seaside town of Bude (11 miles) and Bideford (17 miles) and closer still, Kilkhampton (7 miles) has a small Co-op supermarket, an excellent fish and chip shop, tea room and a number of local pubs.

Wetherall Cottage is the perfect escape from the hurly burly of modern living. If you are looking for tranquility, to listen to the birds and really see the stars, this is the place for you. We are located in a totally secluded spot, with no immediate neighbours. A 20 minute stroll from Welcombe Mouth, a gem of a beach, off the tourist track on the English Heritage coastal footpath and popular local surfers. So pack a picnic and spend time to enjoy breath-taking scenery and enjoy the sunset.
Our cottage was built in 1955 by my sons great grandparents, Jack and Simone Haywood and is a special place for the family. We have all spent many happy years coming here for weekends and holidays. We hope you love it as much as we do. Weatheall cottage is in a unique position, in about an acre of its own ground with countryside as far as the eye can see. It sits on a sloping site with 12 steps from the gate to the front door. As guests you have sole use of the ground floor consisting of 3 bedrooms – two generous doubles and a single with additional cabin bed – great for children. The comfortable lounge has a gorgeous open fire place. The original hand-built kitchen has been refurbished with granite work tops and Belfast sink and is well equipped. The renovated bathroom has a fabulously powerful shower. There is also an additional external shower/utility room adjacent to the back door with washing machine, shower, wash hand basin and 2nd toilet. All rooms are individually furnished in a traditional retro style reflecting the 1950's era of the building. For your entertainment we have good collection of DVD’s and board games. The garden consists of a grass terrace area at the front of the house with a secluded barbeque patio on the level below leading to a small wooded area with a stream running through it - a perfect place for den building. This area is left natural and is a little wild. There is a small greenhouse at the front of the house containing deck chairs, garden table and chairs and a parasol for your use. We have parking to two cars in the layby we created to the side of the lane at the entrance gate and a single garage at you approach the house from the church. In renovating the cottage we were very keen to utilise green technology as much as possible installing photovoltaic and solar thermal panels, air source heat pump central heating, exterior insulation and replacing the crittall windows with wooded double-glazed ones. At the same time it was important to us to retain and enhance its period character and features.
There are not really any neighbours. The 14th century inn, The Old Smithy is the local gathering place. With large fireplace and a lovely garden it is dog and family friendly and serves good food, wine and local ales. The local shop it just of the main road as you turn of for Welcome Village. Only open in the morning, it has the essentials. Open all hours is the Co-oP in nearby Kilkhampton.

The surrounding area is a rich mix of Farmland, hidden valleys, woodland walks, quiet beaches and beautiful countryside. All within easy reach of Down Barton. Check the local tide tables to be sure. The Marsland Valley - Ancient Oak Woodland walks inland or towards the coast are easily accessible from the house. Some beaches have full facilities including lifeguard cover for surfers and swimmers, refreshments, and toilets; others have almost total seclusion but involve a long walk down — and even longer up! North of Bude are Northcott, Sandymouth & Duckpool beaches. All except the latter have Lifeguard cover. Bude is Cornwall's most northern town and has been a favourite seaside resort since Victorian times. The coastal scenery surrounding the beaches is quite beautiful, boasting some of the finest sandy beaches and the best surfing in England! The town has excellent facilities and a wide selection of interesting, independent shops. This idyllic area has a large amount of birdlife for the dedicated twitcher and some wonderful, scenic walks along the South West coastal path. The town has a host of pubs, cafes and restaurants to suit every palate and there is a new Visitors Centre in the Crescent car park, a large children's play area, a 19th-century canal and a small wharf amongst many other attractions. Bude is also home to the internationally acclaimed jazz festival which takes place each August. Further along the coast is Sandymouth, a large beach ideal for families due to its lovely sand, rock pools and tea rooms. A short drive north over the border into Devon leads to the quaint village of Hartland which has a magnificent church with an amazing painted ceiling and one of the tallest towers in England. Hartland Quay has a hotel and Wreckers Bar as the coast here is littered with wrecks and is a lovely spot for some lunch. Also well worth a visit is the world-famous fishing village of Clovelly. The cobbled, traffic-free, high street is built into a cleft in a 400' high cliff and tumbles its way down past whitewashed cottages festooned with flowers to the tiny working port. Kilkhampton, which dates back to before Saxon times is the location of the remains of a 12th-century motte and bailey style Norman castle and the church of St James the Great, which is over 450 years old. Both of the two pubs in the village the New Inn and London Inn serve food, there is also a Co-op, Spar, Post Office, electrical retailer, hairdresser, a chippy, both Chinese and Pizza take away establishments.

Barton Hurdle is a 2 bedroom cottage sitting in a beautiful wooded valley on the North Devon /Cornwall border. Just a 10 minute stroll to a breath-taking beach. Perfect for friends, couples and families who like stargazing and the sea.
Our wood-lined cosy cottage is a magical place to escape to - set in a beautiful woodland garden, with a stream passing through and a local family of buzzards to keep you company. It's a short walk (10mins) from a stunning beach, and the South West Coast Path. The cottage has large living/dining room kitted out with some great holiday reads, paintings and art works by local artists and even our Gran's old piano. Our newly installed kitchen has been made by a local carpenter and includes a washing machine, fridge/freezer and electric cooker. The bathroom has just been re-tiled and a new shower fitted. We have two bedrooms - one with a double bed and one with twin beds. We have electric heaters in the living room, kitchen and bedrooms. There is a new wood burner in the living/dining area. Outside there is a large garden to explore but because there is a stream running through the garden children must be supervised. We've recently added two stone outdoor seating areas and a firepit.
Welcombe is, unsurprisingly, a welcoming village made up of a handful of sprawling hamlets and a wonderful community. It is known for its (two!) breath-taking National Trust beaches (Marsland Mouth and Welcombe Mouth) which are both within walking distance of the cottage. The village has a community shop (open 6 mornings a week) staffed by volunteers. We also have a very special village pub that has a reputation for its friendly staff, great food and some lovely beers and ciders. There is also a pottery in the village (next to the pub) which is well worth a visit during your stay. We are a 10 minute stroll from the South West coast path making us an ideal place to rest if you're enjoying a walking holiday. Welcombe is 25 minutes in a car from Bude - a lovely seaside town complete with spectacular beaches, a sea pool, indoor pool, bowling alley, supermarkets and some great shops and places to eat. Also within 25 minutes of Welcombe is Hartland Quay, Hartland Point, and Clovelly. In 40 minutes you can reach, Boscastle, Appledore & Instow, Bideford and RHS Rosemoor

The kitchen downstairs is large and homely and has a rayburner. Bude town is less than 10 minute drive away where you will find everything you need including beaches and shops, but our most local shop is co op which is 5 minutes away. Great local farm shop and cafe just down the road from us and a beautiful cafe at the Sandymouth National Trust beach. Very good pub 5 minutes drive away.
