You will find a folder in the flat with general information on activities and amenities in the area, but here are some trips we personally recommend (work in progress!).
This trip (it takes about 40 minutes to get there) brings you to Tourmakeady on Lough Mask, via Aughagower with its medieval round tower. Aughagower was far more important than Westport in medieval times (see link below). The next part of the drive goes, via Bohaun, through wide open country side, largely unpopulated, offering magnificent views of Lough Mask as you drive over the top.
The woods and waterfall at Tourmakeady are perfect for a ramble – and in July/August you can pick blueberries there!
Following the road along Lough Mask (heading south) will get you to Lough Na Fooey – one of our favourite spots, always windswept and dramatic. This will take another 25 minutes.

Burrishoole is an area in West Mayo which includes Newport , Derrada, Tiernaur & Mulranny. Each of the four areas has a series of approved walks ranging in distance from 3km to 16km. The complete package of 12 walks is marketed as the Burrishoole Loop Walks.
