As its name suggest this now famous cafe is 'hidden' above Porthcurnick Beach. Feast Nights are almost impossible to get into but you can still visit the hut for lunch during the season (its all outdoors so not open all year round).

Innovative, educational and inspiring. Take your time to wander through the outside gardens before heading into the tropical and mediterranean biomes. Look out for the ice rink in the winter and the Eden Sessions in the summer.

Working fishing village with traditional double harbour, crammed with local and visiting fleets. Fish and chips are a firm favourite here but there are good restaurants too including Salamander, Roovrays and Alvorada. If you're feeling energetic its a good walk from Gorran and you can get the bus back.

Tiny, traditional fishing harbour. Home to the renowned Lugger Hotel and the Ship Inn. A rewarding although strenuous walk from East or West Portholland is recommended.

More yachts than fishing boats, Fowey is a pretty town with tempting shops and restaurants. If driving, it's a steep walk from the carpark but you could also get the Fowey ferry from Mevagissey harbour (check the weather first as it tends not to run if choppy).

Beaches

Our main beach - sheltered and safe and with all the facilities a family may need including kayak hire, refreshments and toilets. Look out for harbour days in the summer and the New Year's day swim in winter. Make sure you check tide times as there's plenty of room when the tide is out but it can get a bit squished at full high tide!

Our favourite beach and less than 10 minutes down the hill. When the tide is high head along the path by the methodist church and then down the steep cliff steps. When the tide is low the beach can be accessed via Gorran beach where you can get a cuppa from the Mermaid cafe.

A 15 minute walk around the headland, Vault beach is a dramatic and exposed stretch of beach. If it's seclusion you're after then this may be the beach for you although there are no facilities and the sand coarser than Gorran. Naturists often take advantage of this privacy at the very far end of the beach.
