Food scene
The Old Hall Inn is a 16th Century Manor House now serving fantastic cuisine, craft Gins and Real Ales 7-days per week. It appeared in "The Times - Top 50 Inns in the UK" in 2018 and 2019. The Old Hall is in Whitehough, a 5 minute walk from our House.
Opposite the Old Hall is the "Paper Mills" a gastro sports-pub that also serves street food and hand-made Pizzas (Truffle fries are to die for!) from Thursday to Sunday

Sightseeing
BY WALKING OR CYCLING:
On the doorstep is the Bugsworth Canal Basin Complex (next to the Navigation Inn), leading onto canals that go all the way into Manchester, via New Mills a local town with much industrial heritage. Walking up to Chinley Churn (about an hour to get up it) will give commanding views of Kinder Scout and Manchester City). On the other side of the House is Eccles Pike (about half an hours walk, past the Old Hall Inn and the Paper Mill pub). Eccles Pike give great views of several valleys and reservoirs.
CLOSE BY BY CAR:
There is an abundance of sightseeing spots around the High Peak including Winnats Pass, Castleton (including Peverill Castle and the Blue John Cavern), Ladybower Reservoir.
BY TRAIN:
A 30 minute train journey from Chinley Station will take you to the metropolis of Manchester which has great sightseeing, nightlife, eating and drinking and well as major sports venues and theatres. In the other direction is the City of Sheffield, a 35 minute journey.
Winnats Pass is a 20 minute drive from our house, close to Castleton a charming little town which also has the Blue John Cavern and great pubs and cafe's. Winnats pass is a smaller Cheddar Gorge and is a stunning area of natural beauty

Buxton is a Victorian Spa town and has much to recommend it. Apart from shopping, eating and the Victorian Theatre there is stunning architectural buildings throughout the central area with excellent and varied indoor markers and outside gardens.
