Vinoy Park was named after the Vinoy Park Hotel, which was originally called the Vinoy Park when constructed in 1925 and sits adjacent to the park. Treasure Island has a very nice beach to visit. We enjoy going there to get away from some of the crowds. The hotelier claimed that the chests were filled with "treasure." News of the discovery spread quickly and people began calling the area Treasure Island. The name stuck.
