TTC
The best way to travel downtown, aside from walking is on the TTC. The entrance to the Yonge-Bloor subway station is just across the street on Hayden.
Get a Presto card at Shoppers Drug Mart and load it at any TTC station. For a month-long stay, it is worth it.
