In my opinion these are the best Fish and Chips ever! Severed from a wooden hut in the harbour at Southwold, be prepared for a wait to be served.... but they are well worth up... check google for opening hours as they change during the season.

Sightseeing

Southwold is a charming north Suffolk seaside town on the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Almost an island, being bounded by the North Sea to the East, by the River Blyth and Southwold harbour to the South–West and by Buss Creek to the North, there is just the one road in to and out of Southwold, approached through neighbouring Reydon. Southwold seafront with the pier in distance. The town offers much of interest, but it is the sea and Southwold’s links with it that make this a wonderful destination at any time of the year. Sample the Southwold sea air! All the attractions of the working lighthouse, beach huts, award-winning pier, busy harbour, cliff top cannon and of course the beach, comb

Shingle Street is a small coastal hamlet in Suffolk, England, at the mouth of Orford Ness, situated between Orford and Bawdsey. Part of the coast is also known as Hollesley Bay; HM Young Offender Institution, Hollesley Bay Colony, is nearby. Shingle Street was originally a home for fishermen and river pilots for the River Ore. Early in the 19th century a Martello tower was built, which was later a home for coastguards. Many of the original buildings date from this period, also several buildings were destroyed during World War II, including the Lifeboat Inn, the hamlet's only pub. A report from October 2004 suggests that Shingle Street is at risk from the sea and could disappear within 20 yea

Covehithe, on the Suffolk coast just north of Southwold and south of Kessingland. It has a fantastic beach – one of Suffolk’s best kept secrets! This can only be accessed on foot or by cycle. There is on street parking near to the church and a clearly marked footpath opposite which takes you through fields to the dunes, a short scramble down and you are on the beautiful beach. Not an ice cream seller in sight and no facilities as such but well worth a visit if you are after a secluded spot to take in the scenery and paddle in the sea. A favourite with dog walkers too.

Hen Reedbeds is a blend of reedbeds, fens, dykes and pools created in 1999 to provide new breeding habitat for bittern and other wildlife. In summer look out for bittern, marsh harrier, heron, bearded tit, Norfolk hawker and even hobby hunting over the reeds and dykes. Reed and sedge warblers sing to their hearts’ content alongside clouds of iridescent damselfly and nimble dragonfly such as the four-spot chaser and hairy dragonfly. Far more secretive are the otter and water vole which also live here. For the best views of the largest mere follow the way-marked trail through the reedbed and across the road to the viewing platform overlooking Wolsey Creek Marshes, a good place to spot wildfowl
