Worth a visit to appreciate the scale of the bay and the ley wildlife sanctuary behind the beach. Great for a walk and perfect for swimming, fishing, kayaking. This is the beach that was used to practise the D-Day landings - there is a memorial in the first car park by Torcross. There is a selection of cafes along main seafront and the Start Bay Inn - famous for its fish & chips! At the far end is Strete Gate which has a car park and a great little cafe.

Beach side cafe/restaurant

Situated at South Milton Sands, National Trust beach with parking (does get very busy during peak holiday periods)
Beach side restaurant/cafe with beautiful views over South Milton/Thurlestone Sands and the iconic Thurlestone Rock. Very popular and therefore very busy during peak holiday times, booking a necessity for indoor dining but you can turn up and queue to eat outside or for drinks, ice creams, etc. Great for seafood. National Trust car park - so not cheap and good idea to turn up early if coming for the day - fabulous family beach!
