City/town information
It's a beautiful, old city, full of great, kind people. The streets are filled with life and even that is so, it seems like no one is ever rushing anywhere. You can choose from a variety of beaches, visit our park-forest Marjan or enjoy rustic streets of the old city and Diocletian's palace. Social life of the city is also very much alive and you can pick from a variety of caffes, restaurants and clubs.

Buses, taxies and bikes.
Buses and taxies are the fastest way to get around, especially if you need to go to a remote area of the town. However, I recommend semielectric and electric bikes and scooters- it's definitely the most fun way to get around plus they are really cheap and you can rent them all over town.

Don't miss seeing the Diocletian's Palace and Bačvice beach.
Diocletian's Palace is a must, but I guess you already know that. And Bačvice is a beach where a special kind of game was invented- it's called picigin so think to take a small, light ball with you and learn from the locals. We also have anual world cup in this game :)

Where to spend money and where not?
You won't save much money by going to a museum, but I can recommend that the best places for an affordable drink and a meal are those not situated on our coast, which is definitely the most expensive part of town. Or you can learn it the hard way, like I did :)

Here is something that you can't find in the dictionary:
Split has many unique words and phrases, existing only here, but which, in time, spread to other parts of Dalmatia:
FJAKA- a word for psychophysical state of mind with aspiration for nothing. A little bit more elaborated: complete absence of wish for anything, especially for any kind of work :)
PROMAJA: the term used for the cold draft generated by opening two windows in a room. Older people fear this more than the devil himself; when they feel it you can often hear them screaming, shouting and running for their lives!
PRIŠA- rushing somewhere, being in a hurry.
POMALO- the opposite of PRIŠA
