There is much more to do here than ski! This is one of our favorite places. The lodge was built by the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corp) in 1937 and has some of the most beautiful artisan architecture in the country. Every part of the lodge was handcrafted. There are two dining areas, the Cascade Dining Room and Ram's Head Bar and Restaurant. The Cascade Dining Room has a wonderful brunch on weekends. I highly recommend it! In the summer you can ride the ski lift to the highest part of the ski area and back down. There are two gift shops that are very nice. One in the main lodge and one in the ski lodge.

There is the Oregon Film Museum which is dedicated to all the films made in Oregon (Goonies, Kindergarten Cop, The Shining, and Twilight to name just a few). There is the Columbia Maritime Museum in Astoria as well. Lots of great restaurants and great sea food. A great stop on a loop to the coast from Portland.

If you want to see whales this is the place. There is a family of Grey Whales that lives here year round so whale sightings are frequent. You can also go on a whale watching boat or a fishing boat. Great place to see sea life!
