This is a film made by the BBC about the history of Malta. It lasts about 50 minutes. Although very short, the film is well done and will put into perspective the things that you see around you during your stay. It's a good place to start your sightseeing.

Somewhat difficult to get to, this is a natural pool which is a good for jumping into the water. Most combine this trip with a visit to Marsaxlokk. You can take a taxi from Marsaxlokk or get a bus and walk (30 minutes to one and a half hours).

A traditional fishing village, Marsaxlokk is most famous for fish restaurants and the Sunday market. However, there is a daily market which is far less busy than the one on Sundays. If you want to avoid the market altogether go after 1p.m.

Highly recommend the Sunset Trip. Due to the terrain, it's a slow horseback trek so it's great for novices and beginners. Experienced riders are likely to find it unchallenging but still scenic.

A very small sandy beach. There tends to be a lot of seaweed here and the beach is only cleaned in high season (July / August).
It's a pretty beach but as it's one of the furthest away tends to get less visitors than the other sandy beaches in the north.

The largest sandy beach in Malta, Mellieha is the best place for weak swimmers. The water is shallow for the first 100 to 200 metres so its great for families and children. There is a little waterpark here (in the sea itself) and plenty of places where you can hire kayaks, sailing boats, etc.

In off season, Comino is beautiful and tranquil. However, the ferry service in the winter months is weather dependent and occassionally doesn't run even in fine weather!

An artificial sandy beach with a shopping mall round the corner. The beach is a popular hangout zone but one which I wouldn't recommend for swimming.
Bay Street offers late night shopping, a games room and jungle gym and just up the road there is also a cinema and bowling alley.
