Arts & Culture

Just seven minutes by NYC Subway, and you are transported into different reality: once there, it's hard to believe the bustling city is just on the other side of the fence. You may want to spend an entire day here: admiring the historic Japanese Garden (with it's original art pieces from the monastery), or Rose Garden, Tropical and mountain dessert Conservatories, Lotuses pond terraces, stunning collections of tulips, magnolias in the Spring, or Summer flowers till late November. Comes snowy winter, the place becomes none less but pure magic. Enjoy arts and music on the grounds and in the studios. Many seasonal festivals - from Sakura Matsuri to Hot Chili Peppers Fiesta to Easter festivities

Stunning Neo-Classical building with a 21-st Century twist. Must see. Not only it opens a window into Brooklyn's History and world'd cultures alike, but it is an essential staple of United States story. It is also featuring many festivals, live music/dance/yoga events, late night admissions (open till 11 pm. on certain nights) and cocktail parties.

While easily accessible via Staten Island Ferry (which makes day-trip worthy experience of its own - seeing Downtown Manhattan skyline while crossing the New York Harbor past Statue of Liberty), it takes to to a different time and space: very calm, quaint and truly replenishes ones body and soul. The Museum is just a part of an extensive Art, Culture and Nature area, with beautiful park and Botanical Garden, musical performances and more. Famed Chinese Scholars Garden - the oldest structure in Western hemisphere, is also located there. It would make a wonderful day trip, that not many visitors (and New-Yorkers alike) have had pleasure to enjoy.

Also, outstanding open Ocean beaches, hiking rails, sports/picnics/art&craft festivals/food&craft beers (in season). One secret spot is Community theater (on Summer weekends) that rivals Broadway musicals by quality (not by crowds/ticket prices). Tickets must be reserved well in advance, therefore.

Once again, you won't believe Midtown Manhattan is mere 35 min. away once you step into this prehistoric native America's landscape. Your body and soul will rejuvenate as you hike among grasses and field flowers surrounding the salt water inlet. Plenty of native birds, including hawks and white cranes, to spot.
