The Royal Standard of England is the oldest freehouse in England and is steeped in history. It is within walking distance from the apartments and well worth a visit. They serve good pub grub at fair prices. Nice to sit outside on sunny days. Popular with locals and tourists alike. It has a rich history spanning over 800 years and was a mustering station during the Civil War! Every Christmas morning many locals meet there and stand outside, whatever the weather, drinking mulled wine (vin chaud), bucks fizz, egg nog or your favourite tipple, as well as a large serving of community spirit.

If you fancy something a bit more crazy and extravagant/ avant garde, then pop into The Crazy Bear. Not for everyone and there is a dress code (although not too strict). Sit in the Moroccan Tent or by the pool (weather permitting). At the time of going to press they have a Champagne Wednesday, where any bottle of champagne is half price! Cheers! Best to book and there are sometimes offers on Groupon - worth a look.
